I guess my first review was somehow deleted. This diner is a very strange place. The food is alright but my two experiences here have been largely negative. The first time, the waitress was extremely cold, which was fine. The second time, the same waitress was extremely rude, screamed and made a huge scene when she had made a mistake. It is a shame that my experience has been so bad because I live locally and love diners. Fortunately, there are plenty of diners in Guilderland.

They don’t accept cards, which is okay because there’s a Stewart’s with an ATM right across the street. So I took out 100 dollars. I took a friend of mine out. We weren’t ready for the waitress the first time she came by, and I felt badly. We were ready the second time. The crowd was moderate. She was friendly enough. The food was fine; your typical diner food. The bill between the two of us, the bill was low. Roughly 19 dollars. I reached into my wallet, and pulled out two crisp twenties out of the five I just withdrew from the ATM. «Give me 10 back» I said. «A 50% tip; this will make my server happy» I thought. She came back with $ 10 and thanked me. Then, two minutes later, she returned. She accused me of giving her only 27 dollars before she gave me 10 back. She made a scene in the restaurant, and said«it’s okay, I will just eat it.» I was embarrassed, to say the least. Here I just rewarded her service with a tip that was over half the bill in the first place, she gave me change and thanked me. Then accuses me of short changing her, and in the process, tells me «I thought you gave me two twenties too, but…» Ummmmm ma’am, I gave you two twenties, my friend saw me give you two twenties, you thought I gave you two twenties, and gave me change for two twenties with the assumption of receiving a large tip. We all have bad days, but my experience with this place validates the old saying: no good deed goes unpunished.

The place to go with your young son or daughter to watch the trains through the big glass window!

Good, small town breakfast fare. Outdated décor, but that’s intentional and in a lot of ways, the way it should be. Pleasant breakfast.

we always stop in on the weekends. we have become a regular to this place, atleast we seem to think so. Service — some days its great, some days it on & off. depends on the waitresses mood I guess, we’ve seen the worse out of them depending on the people being served Food — usually on point, Over Medium eggs can be hard I guess? Times to visit — would not recommend during busy times, before 9am & after 1030 for breakfast.

First, the food. We’ve had breakfast here a few times in the last year. The food, consisting of typical small-town diner breakfast fare, in the past(several years ago) was fairly good — not the greatest, but certainly more than adequate. Unfortunately, the quality seems to have gone downhill recently. Certainly not bad, but not really memorable. If this was being rated solely on the food, it would get 3 stars. Now, the service — certainly a 1-star experience. Our party of 4 arrived in that in-between period well after the breakfast crowd, and well before the lunch crowd. When we arrived at 10AM, we were the only customers there. The waitress was having coffee and reading the paper, and made it very obvious that she was totally disgruntled that we dared to come in during her ‘quiet time’. When we asked for ordinary things like water, decaf tea, even coffee refills, we were answered with snorts. The bad attitude just oozed off her. Interestingly, a lone male, obviously a regular, came in around 10:30. He was greeted very civilly, much like an old friend, and was served promptly and courteously. If you eat regularly at this diner, you might want to add another star onto the rating; otherwise, there really are much better places nearby.
