We recommend you visit this place for healthy, vegetarian treats. We came by for lunch about 1:30PM, but they were out of today’s lunch. Not to worry, the cashier went back and spoke to the kitchen, and they rustled up something for us. A tasty veg-burger on a roll, with chips and hummus. The owner Nancy was busy working, but her husband, «Doctor Bob» invited us to sit with him. We chatted through lunch and coffee, Nancy joined us, and we enjoyed getting to know this friendly couple. The tables were populated with locals enjoying an early afternoon dessert and coffee.

This is my favorite space in Waco — I feel better when I walk in the door. Nancy, the owner, is a multi-talented pillar of Waco along with her back-up supporter, Bob, retired physician that treats customers with same compassion he gave his patients. And the food — it is obvious that everything has been mixed, stirred, and baked with love. I always leave feeling nurtured and satisfied.

The most loveliest and tastiest of places. Without Lula Janes, Waco wouldn’t be home.

I wanted to provide some additional information for anyone who is considering eating at Lula Jane’s in East Waco. Yes, the food is awesome whether you decide to have breakfast or lunch. In addition to that, where they also excel in my opinion is their customer service. The energy inside their door is angelic. There’s always plenty of smiling faces there to welcome you. Darah and Bonnie are two of my favorites and they have always treated me well. Even if the food was awful(and it’s not) I would still go there to bathe in their energy. Meeting employees who actually love their job is rare these days and I credit this to Nancy Grayson because the kind of employees that you hire always flows from the top job. Mrs. Grayson is super nice to me as well and is always smiling along with the rest of her staff. This is by far one of the best eating establishments in East Waco. I highly recommend you try it out and thank me later.

Cute bakery that uses ingredients straight from their own garden! The staff is very nice too. Definitely will be going back for more.

Y’all… I don’t even like chocolate pie, it’s a texture thing, but the fudge pie. It was like heaven. The pearl cake is to die for, and the chocolate chip cookies!!! Droooollll. So the food is amazing, but I just love the atmosphere too. Homey, clean, friendly staff and as a tourist, I felt right at home.

This place is AWESOME! People here are really friendly. This is definitely not a place for people who love wide range of Options. They have one item on the menu for lunch along with breakfast goodies. I loved the fact that everyone gets to eat the same thing. We went there for lunch and they had Power Bowl on the menu. I don’t know how they did it, but with 6 ingredients they have created something magical. I had the combo which came with a pastry and drink. I choose Ethiopian Coffee which was bold and smooth. To top it all, I have not had a better Buttermilk Pie ever than what they served. This is definitely on my list of places to visit again.

I go here regularly, and I’ve yet to have anything that was less than exceptionally good. I would say that not only are they capable of out baking my own mother, but probably your mom too. Probably all of our moms combined. Also, you can’t beat the prices here. Not for the absolute 5 star quality you’re getting. If you have a bad experience here you’re(a) Satan’s long lost child or(b) the planets aligned and you have shit luck(sorry pal). Shout-out to Bonnie and Dara who always provide excellent service!

I was super excited to actually get to visit this cute little bakery with my sister. My only experience eating their cookies was from Baylor line camp and my sister buying me a cookie a few weeks ago. So we went late morning and they only had chocolate chip cookie and oatmeal raisin cookie left in the case. My sister and I purchased 3 chocolate chip cookies and 1 oatmeal raisin cookie. The chocolate chip cookies were really special and it’s really obvious once you bite into it that it is so special. Definitely recommend the chocolate chip cookie The reason for such a low review is because of the oatmeal raisin cookie. Oatmeal raisin cookies are my favorite cookie, but when I bit into the cookie, the middle was burnt. I have absolutely no idea how the middle could have been burnt when the cookie around it was completely fine. I will hope to give Lula Jane’s another chance. However, I’m hoping that this was just a one time mistake because it just blows my mind how they burn a cookie in the middle.

Love this place! Everything is very homemade and delicious! Possibly my favorite Waco spot. It’s cozy with plenty of reasonably priced comfort food. It’s a great place to study or to chat with friends.

I love everything about Lula Jane’s: The coffee(.50 refills), the lunch, the pie, the outdoor seating, the green space next to the porch, the garden, the staff. The only complaint I have is that they close at 3pm, which I completely understand from a business standpoint, but from a selfish why wasn’t I consulted standpoint, I regularly wish I could go work there in the evening.

Came in for lunch and had the ratatouille. Fantastic dish, super fresh ingredients with tons of flavor. Followed that with two cookies for dessert. The chocolate chip is incredible. Moist melty chocolate and delicious dough. Can’t beat this place for a fresh farm to table meal and delicious baked goods. Staff is very friendly and helpful as well.

Off the beaten path for out of towners is Lula Jane’s. It is a cute bakery that serves fresh pies, cookies, and a few specialties(veggie burger & baked oatmeal). The lady at the front gave us great recommendations for breakfast: banana nut bread, baked oatmeal, buttermilk pie. The favorite of the group was the banana nut bread. Very moist and packed with banana and nuts!

My son and I in town from So CA visiting Baylor. My son was a little annoyed that I had to have breakfast at Lula Janes all three days. First, everyone super warm and friendly, secondly all the food definitely had that homemade taste. I LOVED the baked oatmeal. The only thing was I wished it didn’t have as many walnuts! A side of walnuts would have been nice. Her chocolate chip cookies are the best I’ve ever had. My son liked the breakfast cookies, and the cinnamon rolls were awesome!

The pies are huge. Baked oatmeal: I thought it was okay. Maybe because a lot of reviewers recommended this so I had too high expectations. Buttermilk pie: Tastes on the sweet side. But you can definitely tell it’s homemade. Lemon Raspberry pie: Same good texture as buttermilk pie, and you can still taste the buttery taste of the buttermilk pie here. A lot better than processed desserts only if it weren’t so sweet.

This is a tricky one to review. Somehow I didn’t discern from the Unilocal reviews that LJ’s didn’t offer a breakfast menu of more than 2 items(breakfast pie and baked oatmeal). Since hubby doesn’t count pastries as an acceptable breakfast food group we didn’t stay. It was probably good that we didn’t as about 10 of the 12 or so tables were occupied by one person each with a laptop obviously settled in for the long haul. However-we waited in line for a couple of minutes as I was not going to pass up a chance to try the chocolate chip cookies. Glad we waited cuz they were wonderful! To sum up-Lula Jane’s is a glorified Starbucks, not a place to sit down and have a hearty breakfast.

This place was absolutely wonderful. Everyone there was so warm and friendly, felt more like having brunch at a friend’s house than at a restaurant. We had the breakfasts pie — super tasty with the most deliciously buttery crust ever. And let me tell you — the Buttermilk Pie was magical. Crisp on top, gooey in the middle and soooo tasty. Highly recommend this place. The only thing that could possibly make it better would be if they had mimosas.
