Overhyped. We stopped in on our way back to Houston and were very displeased. Bakery items tasted like pure sugar and the sandwiches were bland. They best thing was my canned coca cola.

Overpriced for what you get. I got the colin street club, which was a basic turkey bacon sandwich, drink, and chips for $ 11 The staff was nice and helpful though and I received my food quickly. This restaurant is close to my work and offers free wifi so it was a good place to stop in for my homework assignment. Wouldn’t stop here for just a meal though.

I had to wait a little bit to be served because it was pretty busy but the cashier apologized sweetly and gave me a discount. Reasonably priced to begin with. $ 2 for an egg and cheese sandwich

Collin Street Bakery has a beautiful storefront and wonderful baked goods. However the service is some of the worst I’ve experienced. The employees seem like they would rather be anywhere else. I spent long periods of time standing at a counter asking to be helped while multiple employees ignored me. Instead they stood looking down at their feet or chatting with each other. They even looked up at me multiple times then resumed their chatting. It sucks because CSB is such a nice place and has genuinely good products. The only problem is the employees make you feel like a nuisance. This has happened every time I’ve been. If this problem wasn’t so prevalent CSB would be 5 stars.

Stopped in for lunch and a dessert. Sandwhiches were good, if a little over priced. The pastries were delicious but the cookies were dry. Their famous fruitcake sells for $ 30 for a small size, no thanks! The staff was very friendly but most likely won’t return.

I always get really excited about this place, I hear great things and I love the idea of it. I have tried them many times and have been disappointed. I got an iced coffee from there and it was lackluster. I’ve gotten a few lunch combos from there and I find the sandwiches extremely dry and uninspiring, and the soups tasting unfinished. The cookies are dry yet not crunchy. I keep going back wanting to love this place, but each time am severely disappointed. Who likes fruit cake anyway?

Happy to see a Colin Street Bakery on our trip to Waco. Had to stop in for a few cookies and pralines, but was really hoping they had my cheese spritzes. They were OUT as usual, BUT sales person said a dozen were held for someone who didn’t pick them up. Lucky day. Clean place, but pricy. My cookies and spritzes lasted for a week and were still delicious.

I have to question the validity of the bad reviews. We stopped for a late lunch today– my first time here. Had a Club Sandwich and Sweet Tea. The sandwich was great! Bread was very fresh and the tea was fresh and sweet just like southerners like it! I got a chocolate chunk cookie and asked for a sample of the deluxe fruit cake. She gave me a whole slice! It was wonderful– and I don’t like fruit cake. Well, I didn’t think I did before today.(To the person who was criticizing the fruit cake but admitted they had NEVERHAD fruit cake– you could have asked for a sample and you really shouldn’t criticize things you know nothing about!) The cookie was excellent as well. It was nothing like a «store bought» cookie and had depth of flavor and rich chocolate. Crunch on the outside and soft inside. The staff were busy but certainly not rude. I bought a Fruit Cake to take home and a Triple Chocolate cake for my son in laws birthday(New Years Eve). As we were leaving he said, «Best Mother In Law Ever». I will have to order my Mom a fruit cake. She likes fruit cake– I know she will love this one!

This is a Waco area staple. Very busy, but the staff is skilled at rapidly attending to large groups and the line moves quickly. Good customer service. They sell fresh, delicious pies, cookies, coffee, cake, sandwiches, soup, breads, and more. Free cookie samples, if you have trouble deciding which to take home. The cherry ice box cookies are my fave. Lots of fun gift options. Also, there is a cute little gift shop area with a large selection of souvenirs. As I mentioned, they have both a bakery and a café under the same roof. If you decide to stay for a meal, I recommend the tomato basil soup. Very nice dining room area, large windows and lots of natural light. Good place to sit and relax if you’re stopping off on a road trip. Free WiFi. Excellent wait staff. Although this place is bustling and can get packed at times, there is plenty of seating and a good parking situation. Worth a stop.

How can you rate it anything other than 5 stars! For those that complain about service, it’s busy so relax. For the past 30 years we have been visiting the shops across Texas and began our adventure at the factory store. From the fruit cake, banana nut breads, cookies or their sandwich shop. I really enjoy shopping and grabbing several items for the family during the holidays Take the exit, park and head in. Grab a coffee, walk around and enjoy!

Our family has been going to the Collin Street bakery for many years as a fun stop between McKinney and Austin. I have to say, the quality of fun desserts has gone down hill, and the customer service horribly SUCKS! They were SO completely rude… with every customer. We have decided not to EVER go back there again.

in comparison to the original CSB in Corsicana this location isn’t nearly as good. Do yourself a favor and visit the original CSB in Corsicana! The coconut macaroons are our favorites but since the CFO got busted things have went downhill tremendously– the macaroons are ½ the size they use to be 5 years ago and the prices have increased! YOCFO keep your hands out of the cookie jar! CSB bring back the good olé days and the big fluffy macaroons! This place does have the best Fruit Cakes on the planet! My fav is the apricot! Thank you for the free samples so I could try them all!

They have been around for 125 years. Obviously they are doing something right. I like the cherry ice box cookies, sugar, the sugar with a dollop of chocolate icing, the pecan sandies, the sand tarts, It’s super clean inside. The bathroom are large and kept up with. The staff is friendly. I like to stop here on the way back from Austin or San Antonio. My dad is a fan of the pecan bread so I usually pick up a loaf for him.

My small experience was a good one. My Apple cinnamon muffin was yummy and for only 95 cents. My coffee was great too!

We stopped by here yesterday to grab some cookies and the $ 5 pecan brittle that they advertised in their billboard for Friday… When we got there at around 11am, we were simply told«if we have any, it’s over there…» Instead of helping, they simply pointed to a spot that didn’t have what we were asking for. The fact that they ran out was not the issue, the lack of service was… The staff, including the«manager» acted like we were bothering them rather than wanting to help their paying customers. I wouldn’t recommend this place…

Basic cafeteria food served in beautiful architecture. Staff are a bunch of inflexible a – holes. Tuna was dry. Bread was dry. They charged $ 2 extra for basic sandwich toppings. Broccoli Cheese soup was good. Portions are very small.

So… I don’t understand why everyone raves about this place. I guess the fruitcake is good, if you like fruitcake. I’ve never tried it. Their selection is a bit disappointing, mostly cookies, which are flavorless, dry and crumbly. I like turnovers, croissants and breads. However, they were out of turnovers, had no croissants and had a very limited selection of breads. I do have to say that the white cupcakes with buttercream frosting were very good. Super moist and nearly perfect buttercream, not paste-like, like so many other places. I probably would only stop here for the cupcakes. The cookies are pretty bad and way overpriced. :(. Huge disappointment.

This place sucks. The service is slow, bad. The coffee is watered down and disgusting. And the pastries are mediocre. Even the environment is so-so because of all the different things they’re selling out in the middle area. I came here around 4 pm on Friday with one other person. Food: I ordered a macaroon, a chocolate chip cookie with pecans, a chocolate chip cookie without pecans, a cheesecake that I cannot recall, a regular latte, and a regular cinchona coffee. The macaroon was decent, but its taste was too strong, almost as if the macaroon tried too hard to make itself taste like a macaroon. The cookies were alright, but 60 cents a piece, I expected more from a place known for its treats. The cheesecake was extremely creamy with 85% cream and 15% something I could barely taste. Both the latte and the cinchona were extremely watered down and literally tasted like hot water. My cinchona was at least drinkable, while the latte was absolutely disgusting. Upon opening the lid, we discovered a thin sheet of plastic film rising to the surface of the coffee. After spending 5 minutes trying to scoop it out, we gave up because we noticed chunks of(what looked to be) paper that had broken off the side of the cup where the edge is(see picture) and so we deemed the coffee undrinkable. Service: The service here was extremely slow. It looked as if there were 2 people working the whole building. After being asked if we were ready to order(we said no because we were not), we ended having to wait a looooonnngggg time for one person to go in front of us. Also, the worker was not very friendly and looked uncaring. In addition, the worker who was making the coffee was clearly not very well-versed in making coffee because she made it hastily and without much thought or care(resulting in the fiasco mentioned above). Environment: The environment would’ve been nice if there wasn’t a huge grocery store in the middle of the building selling fruit cakes and bread. Adding a couple comfortable couches and tables would’ve really solidified the building’s overall cookies and coffee look, but the jumble of stuff they were selling definitely crowded the place and made it less friendly to a customer that just wanted to drink some coffee and talk. I ended up paying $ 9.21 for this(dare I say it) garbage. Just kidding, it wasn’t garbage, but I would never ever come back to this place ever again in my life. I would rather drink the overpriced, oversweetened, fake coffee Starbucks sells than this junk.

I guess I just don’t get the fuss? The cookies are good, but they are all of the same texture — kind of dense, kind of gritty, very flat with not even a spec of fluff or chewiness — so if that isn’t your thing then don’t even bother with the cookies. There are about half a dozen different kinds of fruitcakes, all priced at a higher price than I was expecting but something has to pay for all those billboards. Sandwiches are either very tiny on pecan bread for $ 5 or a normal size on not-pecan bread for $ 7ish. The sandwiches are unremarkable and the turkey had a weird, gooey rim around each slice. Meatier than some of the pictures I saw, so it looks like they’ve stepped that up, but still relatively bland. I’m glad I tried it because I’ve been driving past it for years, but I’ll go elsewhere next time.
