Hadn’t been to a Souper salad since I was very young. They recently closed down the locations in Houston. I decided to go there with my fiancé when we recently moved here. I wasn’t very happy and neither was my fiancé. It wasn’t as I had remembered. The salad bar was pretty good but the hot food looked old and the soup had a skin on top of the soup. The bread didn’t taste homemade like I remembered. I really wasn’t very pleased with this and we both ate something when we got back home.

I tried Souper Salad today for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised! The salad was green and crisp; not a single piece of wilted lettuce to be found, and the apple walnut tossed salad was the star of the evening for me tonight. It was delicious and fresh with just the right amount of dressing and incredibly flavorful. The bakery items were hands-down better than what you’d find at 10x the cost at a high-end coffee house, and my favorite items tonight were the blueberry scones and the pumpkin spiced muffin, although the cornbread was also really yummy… I am personally not a fan of their soups; maybe I’m just not a soup person, but they seemed to be lacking in flavor, and both the pasta salad and red potato salad had no flavor. The seating area did look outdated, but I ended up eating at home anyway, and the plus-side of such a simple and open seating area is that it’s hard to lose track of your kids(this place is definitely kid-friendly). However, everything on the buffet line was definitely fresh, the service was fast and very friendly, and for under $ 5/meal was very budget-friendly(I had a coupon from the mail), and I would definitely go here again. I give this place a solid 3 stars.

I love this place. I eat here at least once a week. Always fresh. The soups are good. Haven’t tried the tacos or lasagna but everything else is great!

I felt like I walked into a nursing homes cafeteria, there was absolutely nothing special about this place and the quality was of lunch food you find at something basic.

The salad part is ok. Everything is fresh. The soups, however, are awesome. All of them, although the chicken noodle is the best. The pizza looked good and I will probably try it eventually. The staff is very nice, cheerful and prompt. The place seems very clean and tidy. Great value for the money.

This place could use an upgrade… staff is usually quite friendly in a non-forced way. The food is ok and the main attractions are always almost low like pizza, regular lettuce, and breadsticks. I wish they had vegan desserts section since it is a salad bar.

Good lord, where to start with this place. So, to start off, we waited at the front counter for maybe 7 – 8 minutes for a worker to notice someone was there. I wonder how many people just walk in and sit down, since no one is manning the counter, but fortunately we are not those kind of people. They were out of THREE varieties of soda(Diet Coke, Sprite, Root Beer), so that was fun, we eventually got our drinks about 10 minutes after ordering them. There were 3 visible workers there that evening, one girl sat in the corner and played on her phone the entire time, another guy played on his phone in a back hallway, and the third fella was actually working. The Caesar salad serving bowl sat empty for nearly half an hour, and if you look at the picture I submitted, you’ll see this place looks like it hasn’t been cleaned or updated since the Carter administration. All in all, it was a fairly atrocious dining experience, complimented by a staff of people who clearly would rather Facebook and text than serve a customer. I pray to God one of those 3 workers were not actually part of management, but to be honest, it wouldn’t surprise me. Will not be back.

I am so surprised that you could get such a great variety of salads for only $ 6.79. Seriously! I had never been to a Souper Salad before today so I thought I’d try it. It seemed like a CiCi’s kinda place so I was really hesitant, but since it was Sunday and most places in Waco are closed, we decided to go there anyway. The salad was great. There was a longg line of fresh cut veggies and then a separate line of dressings. In addition there was a section with fruits, one with mac&cheese, lasagna, pizza, garlic bread and baked potatoes. We had not even come close to the soups and dessert yet. There were 5 different kinds of soups and they even had ice cream for dessert. Now the dessert wasn’t all that but it was pretty darn good for under 7 bucks. Good lunch place. Would go there again.

I’ve become more of a fan of this place in the last couple of months when I started considering healthier options when eating out. If your in the mood for a soup and salad then this is a pretty good place to stop. If it happens to be a Wed. you will save a couple of bucks off your bill as well. The food is consistent on the salad bar and always seems to be pretty fresh. The soups are usually tasty. They have baked potatoes and some bread selections. Their selections are not as extensive as other buffets but I find that as less temptation to over indulge. I liked their spiced bread. The only things that bugs me about the restaurant is sometimes after I’ve gotten my plate of food it takes the server some time to get my beverage. I would prefer if my drink was already at my table when I got back form the salad bar.
