McAlister’s Deli

This is probably the worst McAlisters I have been to. The young lady that was taking my order never once looked me in the eyes. She looked down or looked past me. She never said please or thank you. It was actually unsettling for me. The service is always really bad here.

I love McAlister’s and come here quite often. I have had a few not as great experiences which it why I gave 4 stars, but overall I love this place. The employees are usually quite pleasant and the food is always good!
The reasons I am giving it 4 stars: I am a vegetarian and one time that gave me real chili on my Spud Olé instead of the vegetarian chili. I have been about 2 – 3 times where they completely forgot about me. Everyone at my table would have their food and I wouldn’t have mine and would have to tell them and basically they forgot about my order. These instances sucked but they don’t keep me from going back. I have been so many times and have only had 4 negative experiences. They are always nice about fixing their mistakes too.

The reason I’m giving them a 2 is not because of their food which varies each time on how well it is but because their service just seems to keep getting worse each time I go. Just today I went (1:30−2:00ish) and was rushed through my whole order when there was no one in line behind me; I barely had a chance to breath before she was already trying to complete my order. And just this past Monday my boyfriend ordered me something to go and after sitting there for half hour he went to check on it and they had given it to someone else without calling his name.
We’ve had to stop going for weeks at a time so that we can get a break from the random bad days of food and the service of the workers. I will say this their attitudes aren’t as bad as the one on South 6^th Street by Baylor. I love their food but I’m just tired of getting disappointed.

This is a chain, but the everyone behind the counter is always nice, and the staff is always friendly.

I went there the other day. I placed my order online. I got an email confirmation and printed out the confirmation. Thank goodness I did because when I got there — they did not see my order on their computer for who knows why. Like no one did, after 3 people later.
So luckily I hand over my printed receipt because they were about to say I DIDNT PAY, excuse me? This was an order for 3 people. They used my printed receipt to make my order.
The original girl taking my order may need some brushing up on customer service 101. She never made eye contact, never smiled, never said «oh I’m sorry about this» and never said anything to me but «I don’t see your order». I will give her the benefit, that she maybe young, new to the place and new to the world too.
So instead of a quick run-​in to grab food and go. I waited for them to make my order after I got there. Then it’s crowded as heck b/​c everyone’s moving slow. Then someone brings me my order and looks at their feet to say ‘sorry about that’. I was by the door because it was so crowded now. I head home and fail to check my bag before leaving… because I ordered for 3 people, paid online for 3 people and left with an order for only 2 people.
Sidely, I saw a person with gloves on in the back who bent over to adjust a floor mat with gloves on too.
Takeaway — instead of acting like I didn’t pay, ask for my order confirmation number since I said I received an email on my phone plus I had printed the receipt page. Then try to maybe pull up my order by confirmation number — I mean it is 2013 right? even thought this is small town Waco.
Next, for the inconvenience you better make darn sure my order is correct! It also wouldn’t hurt to throw in a pick-​me-​up like sorry about this your order is on us today or here’s a coupon for next time.
I will try your competitor around the corner next time…
