One of my favorite lunch places, I’ve been going to different ones since high school and often get a craving for it! A few of my favorites: Cesar salad, grilled chicken sandwich with pesto instead of mayo/mustard, Debra pizza, and tomato soup with grilled cheese

It was a pretty average place. Similar to a Panera bread. Just average. The atmosphere is nice and the menu is a little different but not much else I could say.

Great food, but that bathroom! It smells like straight up sewage. Has since the day it opened. Owners clearly don’t give a $&#+. You can even see the sewage seep out of the foundation along the sidewalk out front. They should be ashamed. Sometimes you see customers come out of the bathroom with the neck of their shirt pulled over their nose. It’s that bad. For real. I would gladly give 5 stars were it not for the stench.

The restaurant is nice, the food is good, but the service is TERRIBLE. My friends and I went one night and although the restaurant was basically desolate, the service was a hot mess. I understand that not every night is perfect so this is something I can get over, but what I can’t get over is being berated by the staff. An older woman was straight up rude to my friends and I after we had experienced many complications with our food. She was sassy and certainly did not seem to care about our happiness, only proving her own authority.

Great healthy food. We eat here frequently, a nice value for healthy food. We have ordered about everything on the menu and can say(excluding fish, don’t eat that) everything is consistently great.

The place is clean, but the food is not good, had the grilled steak sandwich, the meat was very dry & had a strange taste to it, & the roll was toasted too much, my husband got the Margherita pizza, it was rubbery & gummy & it had 3 specks of basil on it, sent that back & he got the chicken salad sandwich, the chicken was dry & had no flavor, there was no sliced grapes or pecans pieces in it. Won’t be back

I had never heard of Newk’s until I visited Waco one weekend with my boyfriend and his family. I would compare it to something like McAlister’s or Jason’s Deli… but with even fresher products. I had the half turkey sandwich and salad, and it was really wonderful. The bread was chewy and crusty, the salad was crisp and fresh… and the vibe of the place was very relaxed. They also have pizzas if you aren’t in the mood for a sandwich, soup, or salad. The staff were very helpful, seeing that I took a few minutes to peruse the menu(I had no idea what was on it), and they answered all of the questions that I had with a positive and friendly demeanor. Just really nice folks. I’ll definitely be back.

They have axing salads. The Newks salad is great. Ask to have dressing on the side. They give you a lot of dressing.

This place is really good. I’ve had pizza, sandwiches, soup, and desserts. They have all been very good. Their ice tea is also better than most. It’s always fresh.

Very tasty Italian Sandwich on freshly baked bread. Great service despite a big lunch rush. Just as many people ordering salads as sandwiches. Convenient location just off I-35. Nice Waco stop on the south side. Part of newer shopping center. More upscale than Jason’s Deli.

I was very happy to see a Newk’s in Waco. They have a lot of different food options. From sandwiches to salads to soups and pastas. The service is usually pretty good at Newks, and Waco is no exception. They were very friendly here. The food is very fresh and they have a lot of healthy options and unhealthy ones too. They also have good kids meals as well. I had the shrimp po boy and the crab and lobster bisque. Both were very tasty. The lady at the counter, wished I got her name because she was very helpful and friendly. I would make this a regular place while I’m in Waco.

I usually like Newks except is can be pricy for the quality of food, with the exception of today’s visit. They were a little shorthanded for being so busy and then the girl behind the counter taking our order got it wrong. I like the place so I was patient with her and when our food came, we were short a bowl of fruit and there was no cheese on the salad. I simply went up to the counter and ordered another bowl of fruit and a side of shredded cheddar cheese. You would have thought I asked them to make water into wine in three seconds. The guy taking my order said to the girl next to him, «Please go in the back and shred some cheese; we’ve been out for a while.» I paid for the cheese and fruit and then went and sat with our number. The man brings me a bowl of fruit and says the cheese is on its way. 20 minutes later my daughter asked if the cheese was ready. The manager rudely says, «You didn’t order cheese, you only ordered fruit but I will bring you some cheese.» five minutes later the girl who had to go shred the cheese in the first place brings us a whole salad bowl full of treader cheese and practically throws it on the table. I don’t think I’ve had service so bad at this place before. So discouraging!

The salad was a good size but WAY too much dressing! It was swimming in dressing– ask for the dressing on the side.

Driving from Austin to Fort Worth is a long enough drive and worthy of a food stop. There are millions it fast food places, fried chicken, burgers, you name it. But we fancied something healthy. After searching Unilocal we came across this place but outside Waco. It doesn’t look great inside, and it’s very basic, but they have a great selection of dishes, from pizzas, sandwiches, pasta & salads, all fresh and made there & then. The margarita pizza was ok, the salads were HUGE! Super fresh meat and shrimp. I even had to take some of my salad away. There is an endless supply of breadsticks and crackers, along with salad dressings and free refills on drinks.

Excellent, just really expensive. I prefer this place to Pandera, more food for your money and I always leave feeling full but not gross like I would after eating a burger. I can’t go here enough, but my wallet can :/

VERY good! Tho my husband & I couldn’t spend $ 30 every day for salad for lunch! That’s really the only reason for 4 stars. This was our 2nd visit here when passing thru. First was in June. Very good salad choices. Also have sandwiches & pizzas. See pic of menu I posted. Menu is on the wall when you walk in. Table with serve yourself O&V, shredded parm, breadsticks, banana peppers, & more. Only issue is the bowl size for the half salad. It’s TOOSMALL! But the salad is not! Got the ½ Caesar. Good dressing! Added a dozen shrimp for $ 6.50-couldn’t get a ½ order on the ½ salad. We will definitely go back when passing thru Waco.

Sign up for their birthday club! They will email you a coupon for a free meal and drink for your birthday. My son and I went for my birthday lunch and they gave us the entire meal for free because I had the coupon. And their pickles at the bar are the best. Not too sour, a little sweet.

I enjoy Newk’s enough, because there has to be somewhere to get a good salad in Waco somewhere that can appeal to those of us who do not regularly eat salad. Pizza? Got it. Sandwiches? Got it. My salad had gratuitous amounts of meat and bleu cheese, and was great. As for all of the pizza and food and trash on the floor on the tables nearby? Not so great. We were one of maybe 5 groups of people in the store when I went last, and the employees looked like they were having a pretty hard time standing around(obviously not cleaning the mess children left all over the floor). Everything else this trip was fantastic, but the amount of food on the floor would potentially push me to Panera or something else nearby if I wasn’t specifically hungry for a Newk’s sandwich or salad.
