Fastop(or Freedom) is perhaps the least talked about food place on the westside, maybe because Fastop isn’t just a food place – it’s a gas station. Upon seeing the reviews for Fastop’s fried chicken on Unilocal,I had to go visit. I was surprised by the lack of brand names in their food cases. The fried chicken sat in the warmer like the fried chicken at the Foodland deli. I ordered the mini chicken plate, which came with a scoop of rice and potato salad. Their spam musubi also seemed to be made in-house. The fried chicken plate was decent. The rice was good, the potato salad was okay(a little bland), but the chicken redeemed itself. Crispy and well-seasoned, the chicken well exceeded my expectations. The musubi was okay too, but I felt the musubi rice was not adequately salted or seasoned. It seemed bland and dry compared to the rice in the 7-Eleven musubi. The teriyaki sauce was just okay too. Maybe with a recipe change and better-seasoned rice, the musubi can become a knockout. I gave Fastop four stars for exceeding my expectations as far as a gas station goes. There is real potential here to make Fastop into an up-and-coming takeout eatery.

Somebody told me had one place that sold DABESTCHICKEN on the westside. OK so we had to check it out. Thru research and investimagating we finally found FASTOP in Nanakuli before Sack N Save at the Freedom Gas station. The chicken was tasty, big, and ONO. The potato wedges was Da BOM too. Gave a 3 star cuz it IS a gas station and only the chicken was worth it.
