I’ve been here a few times, and was underwhelmed. Tonight I was SO happy with my order that I had to update my review. I had the grilled teriyaki chicken. It was $ 10.95 and I will definitely be ordering this more often. The chicken was seasoned so well, with a nice teriyaki sauce, and the chicken itself was moist, and the skin cooked a little crispy. It was so good, even my picky little eaters wanted me to share with them! A must try, if you haven’t had this!

Ippy’s Hawaiian Barbecue Waikoloa Queens Market Place food court is a Great Place too eat! Everything on the menu is so «ONO» with taste of Hawaii! BTW If you ever get a chance to meet Ippy at one of his Resturants, he is a very nice guy! Johnny P

Good food. Cheap prices. Considering the area your in. They give you huge portions. We ate here twice while staying in the village. Would eat here again. If your hungry and don’t want to get food at the resort. Give this place a try.

The shrimp and ribs were amazing. Probably the best thing I’ve had on this island. And the cashier and server were extremely helpful

Lot of good tasting food for the price. Really the best deal in the pricey Waikoloa resort area. Its located in the food court of the Queens market place. Portions are huge, can easily share 1 plate with 2 people. We usually picked up a plate to go and brought it back to our hotel. Nice, fast and affordable meal after long days out on the island.

Couldn’t find any other joint for Hawaiian food but this place was definitely good! If you need your food fix, drop by this place!

Good Hawaiian Bbq at a reasonable price. Had the shredded pork, a little on the salty side, but good flavor, and the Bbq chicken. Also very fresh and good. Mac salad was on point, and 2 scoops rice. Would eat there again if I was going to a food court.

Ippy’s should be called Icky’s. This was the worst plate lunch I have ever had. I took one bite of the mac salad and pushed it away. It was not Hawaiian style mac salad. All I could taste was tuna. It was dry and bland. The teri chicken was all fat. Once I peeled it away I took a few bites and it was horrible. My husband and I spent $ 28 on dinner and we both tossed everything in the trash and got a sandwich from somewhere else. We read the bad reviews but also read a few good ones. Don’t be fooled!

Ippy’s is very good and hit the spot when my family wanted something simple and Hawaiian. Yes, it’s more than you’d pay on the mainland but everything here is expensive so you’ve gotta throw the cost out(for the most part). We had kalua pig and teriyaki beef and it was very good. You sit in the food court and eat out of styrofoam containers. Only downside was the guy at Ippy’s who took the orders looked like he’d just come off an all night bender and he acted like taking our order was the most difficult thing in the world. But… we’ve all been there at one point or another. Good place!

Most of the people on Unilocal who claim this place to be the best probably aren’t local. Us local people have different standards for how our plate lunches should taste and Ippy’s is no exception. I’ve ordered here several times and I’ve almost always gotten more fat than meat(especially the kalbi and teriyaki meat) and the flavor, which should remind you of the hanabada days, does not do the Hawaiian BBQ any justice… is it horrible? Nahhh, is it the best? Nahhhh. Update: had beef stew last night, it was curiously sweet. Not how beef stew is supposed to be.

Average take-out Hawaiian, decent price versus competitors. Food: 3 stars A little hit and miss. My first purchase was an ahi bowl. Fish was good, but a little light on seasoning. My second purchase was the karage(fried chicken). This was delicious. The seasoning was strong, the batter crispy and the chicken juicy; but they forgot to gave me the macaroni salad that comes with it. Price: 3 stars Compared to other options in Waikoloa Ippy’s is quite cost efficient. Waikoloa is an expensive town. A bowl will cost you about $ 10(incl tax and tip); while a set meal will cost you about $ 12. Still though not a great value for money for what is essentially fast take out food. Overall, if you are craving local Hawaiian dish while in Waikoloa, this is probably your best bet out of a very limited list of options.

Ack! It’s been months since I dropped in for lunch… today I once again ordered the asian chicken salad, trying to be healthy. Sad to report the chicken was fatty, all dark meat, and the lettuce was not thoroughly cleaned, and some of it yellowed and otherwise less than wholesome. And unclean lettuce is a no-no; google«big island rat lungworm». I’ve given them their last opportunity; next time in the food court it will definitely be Lemongrass for me.

Not what I was expecting out of a food court. I had the choose two with mahi mahi and garlic shrimp(which had large pieces of garlic on them) with fries and a sesame garden salad. My fil and hubs had the mahi burger(on a Hawaiian roll) and fries(think thick cut actual potato) and my mil loved her Burger that had onion rings on top.

I went to the register to place the order and the skinny guy at the register completely ignored me for a few minutes. He was arguing over something with the cook in the back — the owner? Food was not bad, not great either.

We’ve been in the island for a week, looking for some good good and a decent price and we found the queens court market right out in front of our resort! Imagine our surprise when we saw the choices at such a small venue! I ordered the Masayo’s plantation style pot roast which was amazing! An abundance of meat, carrots, veggies and even potatoes!(Personally I could have had a few more potatoes-they were melt in your mouth!) I had to salt and pepper to taste, which is fine, not everyone likes the amount I do in my pot roast. I couldn’t finish it, it was so big! I saved it and reheated for dinner the next night, which turned my $ 10.95 dinner into 2-$ 5.50 meals! Such a bargain and it filled me up both nights! My bf had the Mahi Mahi and pork platter for $ 14.95 and it was also just a good. The portions were plentiful and for someone who didn’t know what they wanted(me) the young man at the counter was most helpful. We Will eat there again!

Flew into Kona for 2 hours, and decided to grab a quick lunch. Went to Ippy’s because always wanted to try it. We ordered the BBQ Ribs and the Pulled Pork sandwich. Both were incredibly tasty, and the prices were very reasonable. For plate lunch, it’s great. Good size portions(what Hawaii is known for). They had a lot of things I would like to try, so need to fly into Kona again for lunch.

Hawaii is known for their plate lunches so the dining is not very sophisticated. Sure you can get good seafood here and there but the preparation is very primitive. So we came here for a plate lunch and it was awful. The hamburger on the loco moco was overcooked and burnt on the edges and the pork had a lot of the nasty fatty pieces and was soggy. The smoothies are ok but a little icy.

Back again for that grilled Mahi burger. Super delicious. Vegetables are fresh, I love how juicy the Mahi is The one question I have is «why charge extra to have fries with the burger?» I’ve never been charged extra to have fries included. I got the Mahi burger with fries and a water. The total came to $ 14.01. Holy hell!!! Prices are ridiculously high. I love this place but I honestly think the prices need to change and re-do the menu. **include the fries*** please!!!

Last week while I was on the big island, I found myself driving a lot & upon reaching the Waikoloa resort area, I thought I’d drop by a Starbucks for some hot coffee for a «pick me up»…as I was kinda tired. Upon walking around the Queens Marketplace in the Waikoloa resort area, I came across a food court. I had a little time, so i decided to walk in to see what’s what about this food court. After scanning the food shops, I came across — «Ippy’s Hawaiian BBQ». I made a mental note of this place, as I figured the next time I’m in the area, I’d come back for a meal. Ippy’s caught my eye, as he was the guy that was on the Food Network Stars show(season 8), as well as winning the«International Iron Chef» competition in Toronto in 2013. Well, today was the day as I found myself working in the Kailua-Kona area, as well as the Kapaau area. Upon finishing my last job in Kapaau, & heading back towards the airport… I decided to stop my Ippy’s today. Funny thing about BBQ, as I just had BBQ last week in the Kamuela area… but you know what? I guess I like BBQ a lot, and just can’t get enough of the BBQ meats!!! Noms! Went back to the Queens Marketplace, parked my rental car, & made a straight bee-line to Ippy’s at the food court. Upon scanning the menu, I decided on the Baby Back Ribs today, with brown rice, & a garden salad. With the Baby Back Ribs, they do offer fries instead of rice(brown or white), & mac salad if you don’t like the garden salad, but you know me about mac salad,…and I passed on the fries. For the Baby Back Ribs, they do offer two types of BBQ sauce — Ippy’s Special BBQ Sauce, & a Teriyaki Sauce. I picked Ippy’s Special BBQ Sauce. What can I say about the grub — The plate was all so generous! Lots of food at a reasonable price! This Baby Back Rib plate I had was just $ 13.49(with tax). The ribs were very meaty, very soft & coming off the bone(I like that!). On the down side… if there was no sauce, the ribs would be kinda bland tasting but I had to keep in mind, these ribs were not smoked(guess I’m spoiled). The BBQ sauce that is dressed with the ribs can either make the meal, or break the meal. In this case… it was not to my liking, so it broke the meal. So others may like the taste of the BBQ sauce, but as for me… I’d had better. Maybe I should have taken the Teriyaki Sauce instead? There was a lot of other neat local items on the menu, so it’s still worth it to stop by & try the other items on the menu. There is tons of free parking in the Queens Marketplace. The food court can get pretty crowded(like today), & I was barely able to get a table for myself. Very clean & well kept food court I must say!

For a restaurant in a food court, the food was really good, and the prices were very reasonable. Ippy’s was one of the few places that I ate at more than once. The dishes that I tried were: Half chicken dinner: This dish was huge: big enough to share. I got the dish with barbecue sauce, as well as fries and mac salad(not a fan of mac salad with tuna fish, though). For $ 12, it is pretty hard to beat. Grilled ono and Korean chicken wings combo: the wings were nicely fried, but the star of the dish was the grilled ono. I like how they put a mixture of chopped garlic and ginger on top of the fish. Surf and turf combo of grilled shrimp and short ribs: the shrimp were big and garlicky, and the ribs were sweet and juicy. If you are tired of overpriced resort food, you should try out Ippy’s for some good and reasonably priced food.
