This is in regards to the review above from Beth K. Hi Beth! First I would like to apologize for the delay in addressing your review above. It was only brought o my attention this morning by a new client who was signing on with my company. Honestly, I am shocked! We managed your mother’s unit from 2008 until your mother informed us that you needed a place to live and that you would be moving into her unit in June 2012. Your«reputable source» was correct when he/she informed you that the previous tenant was MY daughter. My daughter lived there for 6 months. My daughter DIDNOT receive special treatment from me or my staff. In fact she had been held to a higher standard. Maui is a small island and I never intended to hide the fact that my daughter had been renting the unit. I have owned Home Managers, LLC since 2003 and it would be foolish of me to allow anyone, more so my own daughter to destroy your mother’s unit and jeopardize my reputation. Upon occupying the unit, my daughter introduced herself to the resident manager as my daughter and they got along fine. Upon receiving keys back to her unit, your mother and I discussed the carpet cleaning bill of $ 89.00 from PWC who did a horrible job. The bill was being disputed but in the mean time your mother stressed that you were in a rush to move in so we agreed that the $ 89.00 would be credited to your mother and she would be seeking another company to clean the carpets. Her June 2012 Closing statement shows that credit. She was very happy with that and I never heard anything else form her until 1÷15÷2013 when she sent me an email(which you were copied on) letting us know that she received her 1099 form from our office. It read: «Hi, I was able to print it. Thank you for sending it to us, Rae. Save the trees, as they say. Have a prosperous New Year.» It appears that you lacked communication from your mother as it was my understanding that she was extremely satisfied with the management and turn over of her unit. I do not know where you came up with screws, fist shaped dents in the wall and I never spoke to you ever during the management of your mother’s unit so I did not tell you to replace the clips for the alleged hanging curtains yourself. I view these unsubstantiated complaints as harassment and libel slander of my good name. I now need to expend time replying to these baseless claims. Because your allegations have been published almost a year ago and made public It is imperative that I make it clear that your complaints are false and without any basis in fact. While you have the right to an opinion(and by looking over your reviews, it seems you have a pattern for writing bad reviews all over Maui) you DONOT have the right to wrongfully slander me and publish false claims about my management services. Any further false and baseless claims will be met with the strongest action in order to protect my name an reputation. Legal action will result in a demand for Attorney’s fees and costs. Sincerely, Home Managers, LLC

I would not recommend Home Managers, LLC to anyone. This review is based solely on my experience with them — if you had a better experience than I did then that’s great. My mom hired Home Managers to manage her apartment in Wailuku and gave them twice the standard percentage for commission, having been under the impression that they’d been doing a great job. After she canceled her contract with them, I moved in. The unit was not in good condition — there were holes(from screws) and fist-shaped dents in the wall. The carpet was filthy and despite vaccuuming 3x after moving in, the bottom of my feet turned black after walking around. The curtains were hanging off the hooks and I was told that I’d need to replace the curtain clips myself.(It’s a cheap fix, why didn’t they use the deposit from the previous tenant to replace them?) The apartment was in such a state of disrepair that I don’t know where my list would end. Finally I also found out from a reputable source that the previous tenant was the daughter of one of the property managers.(Perhaps that’s why repairs were not made from the deposit?)

This is a terrible management company. They do not return phone calls to tenants. We ask for maintenance problems to be resolved and in some cases we have been waiting for over a year to get one item fix. Their maintenance man scheduled an appointment with us and did not show up. When we gave him a call, he stated he forgot about the appointment. If you are considering doing business with this company, you many want to reconsider it. They are not interested in anything but collecting rent payments on time. They are slumlords.
