Cho Dang is a place of value, for sure. Who can beat those specials?! I’ve been to the Ala Moana location quite a few times, and I’ve never been disappointed. I mean, the food isn’t spectacular, but for the price you’re paying, daaaaaamn. It’s hard to say no to that price, even after they raised it(if they raise it any more though, I’d maybe have to reconsider). My only complaint is the lack of cleanliness… it was a bit dirty in here. But the price I paid wasn’t quite the price of a bussed table, so maybe that’s why.

Location: strip mall on Farrington Hwy in Waipahu. 2 doors next to Nanding’s Bakery. On a Saturday at about 1:30 there was ample parking in the lot. Interior is small but clean. Six 4-seat tables, one 6-seat table, and one 4/5-seat counter if needed. Service: gal was very cordial and attentive. Food: the entire family chose from the all-day specials menu… regular items at a lower price(and smaller size I think). I chose the yukkyejang(hot shredded beef soup). I liked this more than the one at Mililani BBQ. It had more of everything in it than Mililani BBQ and was flavorful and spicy enough for my palate. If there was MSG in it, it didn’t bother me. You might wanna double check before ordering or even going there if you’re allergic to MSG. Hubby had the meat jun. It was pretty basic as far as meat jun goes. Jeenerz had the soft tofu soup. There was a lot of tofu in there and a few mushrooms. It was flavorful but the spice level probably could be kicked up a notch. The server didn’t ask how spicy we wanted, she may have assumed not spicy since it was for my tween. Banchan was included.

Surprised this location has just an average rating. My experience has always been great with tasty Korean food and friendly service. My go to dish here is the spicy pork.

I don’t understand why people give this place bad reviews. Their food is good. They also offer an all day special menu at a real affordable price. Very generous amounts if you ask me. Soondubu(soft tofu soup) is winning for a hang over :) I’d take that over phở any day of the week. 5 stars for this place

I’m always pleased whenever I come here. Their customer service is definitely better than the Ala Moana location. Don’t be discouraged about how short staff or how slow they may seem sometimes. It’s family owned and the food is worth the wait anyway.

Haven’t tried it here yet, really wanted to try it out today, called twice and phone rang for over a minute no answering machine whatsoever explaining hours or that they would be closed. Drove down anyway to just order in person and get take out, come to find out they were closed! At only 8:16pm? On a Monday… Alright well awesome way to care about the customers. I rather much prefer the town location even if that location isn’t really a 10⁄10 either… hopefully I can update this review based on it’s actual food maybe when they’re actually open as listed.

Don’t know what to say except I used to love these different korean spots, but as always quality and portion eventually goes downhill, it’s like bait you and then… you know what I’m trying to say, then after they run the customers out they sell, you say really go ask all these places just how long they owned it, most of them will say about two years . For some reason that’s the average time just like Korean bars… hhmmm could that be some kind of business scam. Hey if it’s your first time here and never had real korean food, you might get lucky…

I was so happy to find out that we have cho dang in Waipahu and they have all day special for certain dishes like one in Ala Moana. I had my usual soon dubu and my hubby had his usual meat jun. We also tried mandoo. They were all pretty much the same as Ala Moana but I think Mandoo was bit pricey. If I crave for soon dubu, I will go there because it’s close-by, but I prefer Ala Moana one for some reason.

I love Cho Dang Waipahu! The staff is always friendly and helpful with explaining what each item on the menu actually is. I’ve probably came to this location 10+ times and the dishes are always consistent and delicious! I can’t seem to wrap around why folks on here are giving them low stars. My friend and I always get our usual: Kalbi — So ONO! They have a King Kalbi for all you hardcore Kalbi lovin peeps! Kimchee Soup — Another one of my fav dishes! I’ve had it at the Waipahu and the Ala Moana location, both taste the same. For all the reviews saying that it tastes different, stop fooling yourself. Spicy Rice Cake with Mozzarella — One down side to this is that the Mozzarella is an additional $ 2.00 extra. The last time I went to the Ala Moana location, there wasn’t a charge because the Mozarella came with the dish. However, I wish they would add more fish cake. Meat Jun — No description needed because meat jun is meat jun. Mean Jun is good EVERYWHERE. Overall, I always walk out satisfied and stuffed! I’m not too sure if this is owned by the same family members of the Ala Moana location(I’m sure it is) but either one you go to, expect authentic delicious korean food!

Service great! 5.95 Son Du Bu if that’s how you spell it! Lol it comes in a pot and it’s hot and bubbly! Small but I don’t need anything fancy… lots of veggies. Good place that’s not your cookie cutter Korean restaurant. It’s good for when I don’t wanna drive far!

Cho Dang has all the usual dishes you’d expect – Meat Jun, BBQ Chicken, Kaibi, Spicy Butterfish, Spicy Pork, and more. They also have combos and specials. We had a Soft Tofu Soup and Yellow Corvina Combo and a Toppoki and Meat Jun Combo both come with Rice and Ban Chan. The Soft Tofu Soup was the best of all the dishes. I love soft tofu to begin with. The soup has good flavor, not really spicy, with bits of beef and kim chee. The Yellow Corvina wasn’t fresh, the texture of the fish was mealy and it had a fishy taste. The Toppoki was okay, I just wish the sauce had more flavor. The Meat Jun was also pretty bland, even dipped in the Toppoki sauce, because the meat was so thin, it was more oily than anything else. Ban Chan was skimpy and basic. Prices are okay and servers are there to bring you your food. You can get in and out and on your way.

Good food and good service. I always order their meatjun which is tasty & tender. I’ve also had their oxtail soup which is pretty tasty. We don’t have much good korean restaurant nearby but I can say that this is one of my go to place for some yummy korean food! ^_^

Limited combo choices and no option to change up the combos, plates have VERY small servings, and prices are too high for what you little you get. We ordered the meat Jun/BBQ chicken combo(and paid $ 13 for it) and the servings of the veggies and rice were NOT comparable to what other Korean take-out places offer. You also can’t pick your veggies. Maybe if the food were extraordinary, it’d stand out from other places, but unfortunately it wasn’t. I won’t be eating here again…

The food was good and the service was good also. I have frequented the Ala Moana location many times and was happy that they have a location in Waipahu now. I had one of their daily specials, which is reasonably priced. I had their Kim Chee Jun and the serving was a generous portion. For people on the Leeward side that are looking for a Korean Food Place to dine, I would recommend this place. No need to dress up, come as you are type of place.

My family and I really enjoy eating here. The space is small and nothing fancy but they turn the tables fast and have good service. Also, being in Waipahu and away from town, there’s isn’t any wait time to eat in, so it’s great for those of us who live out west. They have all day specials on various dishes just like the location in town which is exactly what we come for! Their meat jun and soon du bu(soft tofu soup) is the best and very tasty! If you’re looking for good Korean dine-in restaurants(not just take out like Yummys or Pearls), then go to Cho Dang in Waipahu!

I was so excited to find out Cho Dang was opening a location close to home… So disappointed that this location is not as good as the Ala Moana location. Not saying the Ala Moana is great but atleast their entrées actually had taste. I ordered my usual soondobu, it was so bland that I had to add my order of side kimchi into my soup and even that didn’t do the trick. Our sides were icky and took 15 minutes to even be served to us, water tasted icky as well. Place looks run down already. Definitely not going back! Sticking to Millions!

This is the sister store to Chodang off Piikoi street. Do NOT expect the same quality of food as the Piikoi location. I came in late, about half an hour before closing. Yes, it’s late. I did not have a big order and your store doesn’t close for another half hour. I ordered my usual Soondubu and I got eye rolls and angry korean talk. The Soondubu wasn’t even HOT. It was near room temperature WHEN I GOTIT. How is that possible?! I will be sticking to the Piikoi location.
