AWESOMESTUDENTDISCOUNTS: D I frequent here a lot, especially to study, but mostly to buy a 20 oz iced coffees(which cost a little under $ 2 with college student ID). The ambiance when i go is usually good but night times can be a little louder because that’s when a lot of customers tend to come in(especially for different events or group things going on). Mornings are great for studying because everything is just really quiet and they play good music during those times too. They have lots of seats, a decent amount of wall outlets, and a great selection to choose from as far as drinks and foods. OH, and their pesto bread thing with the ham, tomato, and vinegarette sauce is amaaaaaazing! I forgot the name of it, but I’m sure the awesome crew here is more than open to helping you out with that. :)

First time here so I ordered Taro Milk Tea«BLENDED» large $ 5. It was Ono… sadly they don’t serve coconut jelly and I don’t like boba(tapioca) in my drinks. this was way too sweet to finish I literally dumped half of itnext time I’ll ask them to control the sweetness. Nice Dessert selection but they are a bit pricey.

I love the vibe and ambience of Island Café. I had a hard time finding it, at first, but I was glad to venture out to the west side for a change, in order to enjoy some coffee/smoothies. My friend lives in Waipahu, so we met out closer to her one Saturday morning. She had been to this café before, but I hadn’t; her experience was good – she said she loves to study here – so I was down to check this place out. Despite going into the wrong parking lot at first – and being rather unfamiliar with the area – I finally found Island Café. There’s ample parking outside, and for a Saturday morning, the café was relatively empty. This was good, since it took me forever to decide what to order. There’s lots to choose from on the menu, and there’s a good number of seats within the café as well. My friend and I had no problem finding a small table by the window, where we enjoyed our drinks. I would definitely love to return to this café again – it has a homier vibe to it, and I really liked the friendliness of the workers there. Here’s what we got: «Thai Milk Tea»: My friend doesn’t like her drinks too sweet, so she opted for this Thai milk tea, which features Thai tea, cream and honey tapioca. She said the flavor was light and subtly sweet, and she would definitely order this again. She seems to alternate between Thai and Taro, but during this trip, she was craving the Thai flavor. «OREO Brain Freeze»: I always go for the chocolaty drinks, and since I love cookies and cream flavors, I chose this«OREO Brain Freeze,» which is similar to a Frappuccino. I go the 20-oz. size without whipped cream, and I also asked for almond milk/soy milk. I liked chewing on the OREO chunks, which I could taste in the liquid, but I just wish the drink were blended slightly better. I got a lot of ice crystals, so I had to constantly stir my drink. Still, I liked the sweetness and taste, and it was refreshing as well. «Mocha Mac Nut»: This was the other Brain Freeze flavor that I had contemplated getting, but OREO won out. Still, I would love to try this flavor one day, since I love chocolate, coffee and macadamia nuts. «Toffee Milk Tea»: If I got one of the milk teas from this café, I would probably choose the toffee flavor as my first one. I don’t often see toffee-flavored milk teas, so I’m curious to see what it tastes like. «Caramelicious»: This was the other Brain Freeze flavor that sounded appealing to me. One day when I’m really craving caramel, I’ll definitely want to try it.

This is a great spot for studying or catching up with a friend. I love the relaxed atmosphere and the varied menu, which includes flatbreads, bubble tea, coffee drinks, smoothies, and sandwiches. There’s free wifi and lots of outlets and seating space. I tried the Italian flatbread($ 4.95), which I enjoyed. I’ve had the Thai Milk Tea and House Milk Tea($ 5 each) as well. I liked the Thai Tea a lot. The House Milk Tea was fine, but not my favorite milk tea. I asked for it to be less sweet, and I think I wish there was a stronger tea flavor.

The only place I know in Hawaii that serves mojito latte’s. I tasted it for the first time at Philz coffee in the Bay Area and thought I’d never have it again until my next trip. It’s no longer on the menu but they’ll still make it if you order it. The coffee is strong and there’s always seats and tables, outlets, and parking. They also make milk tea and bubble drinks. The food is pretty good too. They have sandwiches, açaí bowls, flat breads, and a few breakfast items. The wifi is free. The only thing that would make me love this place more was if it was 24 hours.

First of all Unilocal you need to be more clear where this place is. My friend and I were in the first floor area by Jiffy Lube because it said it was by the Wendys. Anyway, came in on Veterans day to find it a bit crowded. We found seats around the corner by the windows and sat in the black leather seats next to the very hot black out shades. I ordered the toffee milk tea and my friend, the grape oolong. We shared a chicken pesto flatbread. We sat back down to start working while waiting for our drinks. We tried to connect to the complimentary wifi but it wasn’t working-the guy sitting next to us said it works when there’s not as many people. By the way you have to ask the workers to write down the password. We got our bubble drinks. Its a little bit on the sweet side by I’m not complaining. My friends oolong was too sweet for her love of bitterness. It tasted like the grape jelly cups you buy in Bear containers. OMGTHEFLATBREADWASREALLYGOOD! Not a bad price either ~~~ We decided to leave after eating since wifi was what we needed most. As we left, Augie T saw us with our drinks in hand and said«Thank’s for the support. Spread the word.» Will do man will do.

The food is great! Try the desserts too! Wish they would open early; I would come here instead of sbux and Jamba anyday!

My new intern Ben suggested we meet at Island Café since Starbucks is ridiculously packed to the brim with students. Located above Times Supermarket in the Kunia Shopping Center, and the café is much bigger than you’d expect on the outside. Ben told me this used to be a 3rd Cup Café which closed and the counters at one time were lined with gambling machines. Weird to say the least. My visit here was on a Monday early evening around 5pm and thankfully Island Café is a ghost town in comparison to its corporate competition down the street. We had no problem finding a table and I ordered a green tea latte from the counter. They have a full menu of drinks and food, including coffees and bubble teas, but at the end of the workday I have zero energy to make complex decisions. It took me forever to decide on my one drink and I apologized to the barista for my inability to pull the trigger on my order. My drink was okay as you could taste the powdery matcha in every sip and it was a bit overwhelming. Maybe I should have ordered a bubble tea? There’s free wi-fi and they give you the 007 level spy code at the counter. Hoping the next time I visit Island Café I’ll get a drink I really enjoy and be able to upgrade my experience to 4-stars. I want this place to succeed as we really need a solid alternative to Starbucks in this ‘hood!

Come here almost every Saturday for breakfast. It’s such a great environment in the morning and I love the food! They have a wide selection of drinks and food and I have not been disappointed with trying something new.

From 3rd Cup café to Island Café and Amusements, this venue is a great place to relax, catch up with some friends, or be productive when the Starbucks down the road is packed. The ambiance is ok, it’s a cross between an art museum to a fun factory. I’ve had a bad experience coming to their soft opening. Their menu was very minimal, and it seemed like it was just a pop up coffee shop. There were only two workers and they did not look like they wanted to be there(LOL). It was pretty funny because I was more excited to be there then them! I asked what kinda tea they served. And how unprofessional was the service it was. The worker said they don’t have much because their waiting on shipment from the mainland. any who I ordered a lychee tea. I saw it and thanked the people there and left as soon as I could. It wasn’t a plain tea. They tried to be fancy and made it a lychee MOHITO! LOL. So after that experience I didn’t want to come back! Come to a few days ago to my first time back in awhile. Oh what a huge upgrade. The staff is really nice, they know what’s on their menu! And the drinks are not that bad! Let me try their food next time and do an update. Definitely not disappointed with this place!

New place worth a visit! Running errands and remember seeing some check-ins here so tracked it down with my friendly Unilocal app. Friendly service, willing to wait as you ponder the choices. I could smell the fresh coffee cake baking but too hungry to wait so I ordered a bagel with cream cheese… I know, boring you say! Not, the owner April, added a small cup fm of Ube butter which sent that bagel to the next level. I’m still tasting the flavor. Oh the coffee cake is done so I’m taking home two for the family. So many choices from baked in store pastries to salad to sammies. Prices are less than elsewhere. I expected to pay $ 3+ for the coffee cake but $ 2 only for one. My large Cappuccino and bagel was $ 6.25, quite a deal. Art classes available and call for availability. Mahi Mahi drawing next on the 25th. Quite popular.

This is my GOTO study spot. Ample space and it’s not cold and cramped like SB. Food is alright, drinks are alright. And they are pricey. Sometimes the drinks and food can be on point but it just depends on whose making it. Staff, for the most part I feel like they give you the MEANEST looks if you don’t buy something RIGHTAWAY. I mean I get it, it’s an establishment that needs business but please don’t stare me down. IT’S RUDE.(I’m talking about this slender man who wears sunglasses on his head and had a blue plaid shirt on/this dude always wears plaid and has braces) I’ll buy something when I want to. The younger girls are nice and sweet but the older staff especially the ones from the previous café(3rd cup) look mad all the time. Idk if it’s just because they were having an off day but every time I come, they all look mad. But you know even with the negatives, I’m having high hopes that this café doesn’t close down. Everyone on the west side needs it.(Especially students!)

Love the chill environment of this café. It’s laid back and inviting, fun artwork posted everywhere. There’s a lot of tables and there is even other seating areas if you’re with a group of friends and just wanna hang out and talk. It never got too loud or rowdy which I liked. Ordered a 16oz cappuccino($ 4.45) which is usually my go to drink, coffee quality was good, not the best I’ve tasted, but not horrible. Prices of things are a bit high but not crazy. Will return!

I live in the area and this was my first time in here. I was pleasantly surprised! It is huge in there and very well equipped with seating and computer stations. I was in there to meet a few people to talk about Tupperware and someone recommended this location and I was glad. I asked the cashier if this place gets busy and she said no. I thought, wow, this would be a fantastic place to meet my team mates once a week. There is free wifi but for some reason my macbook wasn’t connecting. I inquired about the computer stations and they are only for gaming. I thought, this would be a great place for me to hold hands on training with my team mates when they need help navigating the back office for Tupperware. I would be happy to pay a small fee to use the stations for 30 minutes to an hour for training. While there I tried the white mocha brain freeze and it was DELICIOUS! Better than Starbucks. I also had a sample of the jasmine green tea with lychee jelly and it was very refreshing. Now that I’m home and its blazing hot, I wish I had bought some to take home. I will definitely be going back again and look forward to making it a regular meeting spot with my tupper gal pals! Staff was great!

I like this place. The people are very nice. The big window makes it a pleasant space. I ordered an Oreo Brain Freeze and a Big Kahuna Pastrami. Nothing special… But pretty good. As far as the amusements? There were a couple grabbing hand games, a couple slots, and a wall of computers… So… Guys… Not sure I would put«amusements» in the title unless you are planning on beefing up the amusements. Hey owners! Let’s talk about the Pastrami sandwich. I love that you are using Boar’s Head, and I like how it is served… But here’s a suggestion: replace the cheese with swiss, replace the«white or wheat» with rye… Now you have a real reuben… Something that this Island is lacking. I think I speak for not only myself, but the other incognito Jews on Oahu when I say that a real Reuben(Rye, pastrami, swiss, kraut and thousand island) would bring us back multiple times a week. Thanks though. I’ll be back.

I keep seeing their lights from their second floor window on my drive home, so I thought I’d stop by sometime. I heard they just opened not too long ago. I came here with my husband on a Friday night. There was only one other guy watching a show on one of the big screen tvs and two workers. I had the specialty bubble drink house milk tea blended with boba. The cashier was really friendly and brought our drinks to us when it was ready. It was okay, but not the best. Maybe I should have asked to make it sweeter. What really intrigued me is that they have Ube cheesecake. Unfortunately, they had run out :(there are also other fancy desserts available for take out. There are some other specialty bubble drinks on the menu, with names like Virgin Lychee or Toffee milk tea that sounds intriguing so I will definitely be back. You can also create your own bubble drink with your own level of sweetness but I felt overwhelmed looking at all of the choices. They also serve sandwiches, flatbread, and breakfast sandwiches. and don’t forget coffee and smoothies. I’m not sure how they taste, so I’ll just have to go back and give it a try. what is cute about this place is the art hanging on the walls which you can purchase if you have a lot of moolah in your pockets. They also have merchandise such as hats, notepads, and little drawstring bags for purchase. There are also some crane games in the back and on the sides of the walls if you want to try your luck. I really like how there are lots of places to sit. I feel like this place can be a hub for activity nights like art and crafts, card game tournaments, trivia nights, movie nights, live music or whatever comes to mind. I thought they had open mic night tonight but I guess there wasn’t really an audience to talk to since I saw no one on a mic. I give this place 3.5 stars just based on the tea, but I really want to try the other items on the menu especially the cheescake!

Although the first time I didn’t get great customer service from these two workers that just stared at me when I entered, I enjoyed the lilikoi flavored bubble tea with lychee and lilikoi jelly I got. I like how you can choice the level sweetness of the bubble tea. They offer great choices of food and drinks. If you don’t like the drink choices, you can make your own bubble tea or smoothie. The second time I came here, I was automatically greeted by two workers. One of the workers was very helpful with helping me decide what to order with the many selections they have. I ended up ordering the hawaiian tropical smoothie w/o lihing mui. It was like a pina coloda smoothie with jelly. I also got an acai bowl that took at least 30mins for them to make and that ended up being very watery. One of the workers was apologetic for waiting long, which at that time it didn’t bother me. But after realizing how long I waited and ended up getting an a not so satisfied acai bowl, now I know why she was apologizing. Hopefully, the next time it’ll be better.

The old 3rd Cup in Waipahu turned into Island Café & Amusements! I’m so excited that they opened back up, relaxing yet upbeat place to enjoy a cup of Java! The first and biggest difference between 3rd Cup and Island Café is the Amusements. «Skilled games» line up the main wall where players can win gift cards-$ 25-$ 100. Also crane games in the rear. They revamped the menu to add a greater selection of food, desserts, and bubble teas. The desserts look outstanding! Can’t wait to try them! They kept the open mic sessions that run weekly, every Friday, I think. There’s a sign up sheet at the counter. I hope this time this Café survives and thrives! This is a recommended spot to take a break from the standard Starbucks in Waipahu.
