Zippy’s Waipahu

Showing my age, but I remember coming to this Zippy’s when it had open air seating and they served their plate lunches on paper plates covered by a piece of paper and placed in a white box. I’ve dined at Zippy’s pretty much all my life. What can I say about this location that makes it different from other locations now? Well the most obvious thing is the very limited parking. You can easily turn in to the parking lot from Farrington Highway going west bound or if you’re coming in from Ewa Beach/​Kapolei you’re going to have to turn left at the light where Chevron was and where McDonald’s is right behind it, then turn right into the parking lot of Don Quijote’s and go past the store then turn right again to get to the restaurant. Parking is tight so you’ll be paranoid that you’ll find a dent or paint swipe on your car from other cars. Also, this is WAIPAHU. You will find suspicious individuals hanging out in the parking lot or sitting on the wall behind the restaurant so it would be best to walk out from and to your car as a group or with someone who can kick someone’s ass trying to mess with you. You will find the same food as other locations. I’ve never had an issue with service there the times I’ve dined there. Most of the time the servers are nice and will fulfill requests when asked. When you get inside, it’s all good. It’s the outside that you need to be wary of for your safety.

Hello Monica! I appreciate you taking time to follow up on my review of your restaurant. I was there around 9 o’clock yesterday morning.
Our server didn’t seem too hospitable at first. I understand sometimes people may have a difficult time to start up in the morning, that’s totally fine. I get that. When she bought our utensils to the table, she just dropped it on the napkin.
When, I asked about the hotcakes, she said that the regular order consisted of 2 pieces and the short stack had 1. If I wanted a 3^rd piece, it would cost me 2 dollars more. She said she wouldn’t be able to key in something. I didn’t understand what she was saying because it seemed like her voice sort of trailed off into a mumble.
This was Tuesday, January 5, 2016.

Was gonna eat in restaurant we got to the sign to be seated first and this other couple came and the worker isa sat them first and didnt acknowledge us… thats how i base how i tip customer service

Always always I mean so good, especially after a long day with the kids grandchildren. So yeah when it’s time for some good grinds in the middle of the night, this is the best better than 711 for sure and way better than Dennys, why cause always have local kine grinds, you know stuff mom and dad used to cook the when the wife makes stew or son makes oxtail thus is the next best thing and the price is good too… oh they have great deserts and good service, did I mention deserts. .so check by them out forget the drive thru… just a couple dollars more you get good cooking and said with desert… lol.
So good yeah.

We ate there on Sunday, November 22, 2015 and waited for 20 minutes to get our food. The two small chili and rice bowls were cold and barely filled up half way. In addition, the grilled cheese we ordered on wheat bread came on white bread and the cheese wasn’t even melted. I ordered fried rice with my meal and basically got shoyu with rice. There was nothing in the rice so I paid extra for shoyu which I could have gotten for free. The best part is that the place wasn’t even busy. That should have been a sign not to eat there. Lesson learned.

This place is the most unorganized take out place. Get your act together…
I waited 25 min for my order then got home to Realize they forgotten half my order… this is unacceptable.

Haven’t eaten here in long time, as always food isnt highest caliber but what can you expect from a coffee shop. I did enjoy my hamburger steak. And my waitress Beth was a sweetheart. Very attentive and fast. That why the 4 stars

I love zippys! this was my second time at this location. The food is always good. I’m giving this place 3 stars because the first time I came here I had a good experience but this last time I came it wasn’t that great.
Service was bad. Our waitress came and asked what we would like to drink, simple, we all wanted water (all meaning just a party of 4) she stood there waiting for another answer, and my bf had to look at her and say «umm.that’s all» until she walked away, without saying a word. She came back to take our order, and this is what went wrong.
My nephew ordered a Portuguese sausage omelette, and usually omelettes here are pretty big but this omelette was flat and plain, looks like one 1 – 1 ½ eggs were cracked into it — if he didn’t put ketchup on it it would look like a really sad omelette lol. I ordered a small portion loco moco and I NEEDED a over medium/​over hard egg because I’m pregnant and eating raw things aren’t the best for me right now. My egg came out over easy… I asked to have it cooked a little more so my egg isn’t runny, she came back, with the egg literally just cooked maybe for 20 seconds more and right when I poked into it, it was runny. So I had to give my egg to my BF that ordered a chili cheese frank.
Idk if it’s my server that was messing up my request or the cooks but every time we asked our server for something, she did not say a word. She didn’t come back to check on us at all after that, just to refill our water once. We came in at around 9:30pm on a Monday, and there was only 2 – 4 other tables in the dining area. We were done eating and just sitting there for a good 15 minutes and again no one came to check on us and no one came with our check so we had to go up to pay… Im a server myself so yeah I’m real quick to judge other people on their customer service sometimes.
Got some donuts and long johns to go from the bakery section and the guy was very nice, friendly and helpful so I won’t rate this place 1 – 2 stars for one workers bad service.

Should be 3.5 I guess since I said 3 and my husband said 4. It was quick. His scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns were good. My egg white omelet, even without cheese was a bit too greasy for my taste. The rice was perfect.

Our waitress was very rude & I wish I got her name before we left!
While she was taking our order, she wasn’t writing anything down. I figured, she has good memory & thats a plus! BUT NO. My sister orderd saimin w no eggs. And what does she end up getting in her saimin? EGGS!
Like really, if you don’t have good memory you should have paper & pen w you!
She forgot to hand out our forks and everything! When we asked for it, she literally just walked away w out saying anything! She took almost over 10 min just to come out w it. Imange just starring at your food, when your hungry, while your food is getting COLD! When she handed it to us, she just threw it on our table!
We also, asked for condiments like ketchup and hot mustard which came when we was ALMOST finished w our food. **ROLLS EYES**
Our waitress didn’t smile what so ever, nor wasn’t she very welcoming/​friendly. Hated her attitude towards us.
My food was pretty good, which is why I gave them 2 stars.
But, damn! No tip foooo yo a$$!

Always received the best service dining in. They are always very friendly and on top of things. I never run out of water and they always make sure i’m doing ok. Best thing about this place is that the workers seem to all get along and offer a helping hand to one another. This place saved my Zippy’s experience after receiving the worse service at another location (ahem.Waipio).

Always a place for me. Especially when I was away for college. Korean chicken all rice is the automatic choice. If I feel like eating something else, the next choice is a zip pac.

Our waitress was Ede. We had the Worst service I have ever gotten at a zippys… The employee just don’t care, No smile no nothing, my food came out cold. And it was just a very bad experiences. I personally work in a restaurant and some days I have to start work at 5 in the morning. Your at work to make money you need your job so you be the best you can be and smile even when you want to be sleeping. You as an employee are represent your company. I don’t think zippys wants to be portrayed as a lazy company who doesn’t care about they’re customers.

How disgusting! FroZen chicken in my chicken salad? Stale won ton chips. Wow. It wasn’t busy either. Come on now, how do you mess up salad? Seriously?! Never going back to this Zippys ever again.

Zippy’s is a Hawaii staple. All of my friends know that once I land, the first place I want is Zippy’s.
My favorite things there are, but aren’t limited to, zip pack, korean fried chicken, and chili with rice.
This particular location is clean (a)s they have been renovated a few years back, and the service was friendly and fast. I haven’t eaten in the dinner area for a while, so I can’t speak to that, but the fast food portion was great!
I also like to get the zip pack on my way somewhere and eat it at the beach or park! Can’t get any better.

Ordered a surf pak to go, service was ok. But then i wanted a doughnut cause i liked zippys baker. So i walk over to check it out and there is a FLY hanging out in the show case, so i let her know and then she just shakes 1 try from the top and 2^nd shelf with out lookking in. I say its on the 2^nd from the bottom and she just looks at me??? So i am pointing where its at and i look at the bottom left there are more bugs flying in there. SMH! I let her know and then she wipes the out side of the case and carrys on selling like no bugs was hanging out in there.
And breakfast is good all day long. Breakfast would be nice if it was sold all day. That was my reason to go to zippys that bento breakfast… yummm!

Made sure I get my order quickly and everything was exactly how I ordered it.
I was skeptical because Waipahu this late at night isn’t the safest place but… The restaurant was very clean and the staff provided excellent service! They greeted me as I entered and always had a smile.

I always have awesome customer service here! There was never a time that our food didn’t come out fast. I always enjoy eating at Zippys and it’s always my favorite when I take a long trip and come back home to Hawaii.

Our dinner tonight was delicious. We had no problem with our waitress. She was on point with everything. From drinks, to dinner, to deserts. It wasn’t that busy tonight especially for a Friday. We had a good family bonding with a cousin we didn’t see for a long time.

Back again 2 years later. Lol. Same thing after work this time about 1am. Funny I ordered the same thing, hamburger steak and a large orange bang. My gf wanted a glazed doughnut but they were out so I got a dozen glazed doughnut holes. Wait wasn’t that long this time.
Food was good. About the only place open late with real food. Actually 24hrs.
