Daylight Donuts

Always a great experience. My kids are infatuated with the holes, but it would be prudent to call ins an order as opposed to picking them up on a whim. You will invariably be disappointed since they disappear so fast

This place is totally underrated and underutilized, in my opinion.
Daylight, for those in Wake Forest is revered as having THE best doughnuts. They have a huge variety of baked goods, and can even make a cake for you if you call and order it (learned this recently and came in handy in a pinch).
I have visited for meetings and had coffee and doughnut holes, and been one happy camper. I love going by and grabbing a dozen to deliver to someone to brighten their day, because they always say, «Oh, I forget about Daylight Donuts», and it is a fresh reminder that they are in WF.
Their location is sort of hidden. I wish it was facing the street so it would get more traffic, but maybe they want it this way. My only issue is that the hours are not consistent. I have been in the mornings, and midday when the hours clearly say they are there, and the doors have been locked and no one is there. I always worry that they have closed the doors permanently, and then they are open the next day. Sort of strange.

Angel Cream Filled Donut is RICH!!! Rich and Wunderful! Compared to their Bavarian Cream filled [more of a Custard], still very Rich, HEAVVVY and Full of Flavor!

They close Early afternoon and run out of most flavors most of the time, so it is good to get here early!

Great donuts! Get there early for best selection and gotta love their coupons. A bit cluttered at the counter but overall a great place. I have had better donuts but for wake forest area they are the best!

Great made from scratch donuts and very nice helpful people. Much bigger than DD and more original with their selection.

Best donuts in town! My mom just brought me some donuts from there today and the dough was so soft and delicious on its own, the the cream and icing just top it off! All tasted superrrr fresh and made that day! Beats ANY other place around! Why go to a corporate crap place when you have Daylight Donuts as an option?!?

We loved going to this place until Dunkin Donuts finally moved in. Donuts are better than Dunkin, but they run out of high demand donuts quite often. But the bigger issue is the size of the donuts have decreased significantly over the last 5 years. We have given up on this place after 3 different attempts to get the donuts we prefer. We prefer to go to local businesses, but when you cant get what you want and have seen cutbacks in quantity, then we have no choice but to go elsewhere. I wish it would go back to how it was early 2000’s. i miss those days! By all means, i suggest you do try this place.

Donuts or doughnuts? I do not know. I will say its nice to eat these delicious «fat pills» from a place not named Dunkin or Krispy. Love their gourmet donuts and while they are usually done with their sales by 2:30pm, it means the donuts you are eating are made same day. And are as a donut can be. Great selection and better ingredients.

My son and I typically go here every Saturday morning. Last weekend we happened to be near Creedmoor Rd so we tried that DLD. I was really surprised at the difference. Wake Forest DLD tastes a whole lot better. This location rocks.

The donuts are awesome! The staff is friendly, though the customers were not. They have to realize they are doing the best they can when it is busy. I got there around 9am and it was halfway sold out. This shows you how good these donuts are.

Best glazed doughnuts!

Best donuts around. I don’t like to give away my secrets because they run out of donuts. Their blueberry donuts are the most amazing donuts on the planet and their plain old fashioned are a close second. I drive in to Wake Forest on the weekend, passing by 2 Dunkin Donuts and the new Krispy Kreme just to get my fix of these donuts. Heck, I’m only 10 minutes away from the other Daylight Donuts in N. Raleigh, but I go out of the way for these donuts.
It is the crust on the cake donuts that keep me coming back. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfection. If you go, make sure not to be a greedy gut and take the last blueberry donut. I call dibs.

This place is amazing! Krispy Kreme has always been my favorite donut shop. There was never any comparison. Then I tried Daylight Donuts. I would venture to say that all of the «specialty» donuts I have tried at Daylight beat Krispy Kreme hands down (blasphemy I know). That being said the original glazed at Daylight just can’t compare to the hot fresh original glazed at Krispy Kreme.
Have been here two times in the past week and service is always friendly. The lady at the front counter was very friendly and highly entertaining. My first visit she asked me if I had a donut card and when I replied no, she handed me one and said now you do! She gave me a few punches to start me out and explained that if you purchase 10 dozen donuts the 11^th is free. When loading me up with sugary goodness I was ordering my donuts in pairs and she even asked if I needed the chocolate sprinkle donuts to be the same to prevent any fights at home. I would never have thought of that but of course if my wife wanted to fight over what her sprinkles look like she could just have her pick.
Today when I arrived and ordered my dozen I was eyeballing the lemon filled ones but got down to my last two without picking them. She asked me if I wanted to try the lemon and the blueberry and then gave me one of each for free telling me to have a happy Easter. Who can complain about getting 14 donuts for the price of 12? She also remembered me even though I had shaved the beard and made a comment about not recognizing me at first because of it.
Every time I had been here before they had sold out of donuts if you didn’t arrive super early. I mean if you got there after 9 am forget about it. However, lately they seem to have more in stock and often if they don’t have what you want in the case they have some in back that were just made but hadn’t yet been put out.
Even though the last time I went the donut box attacked me and gave me a nasty cardboard cut as I eagerly tried to break the tape on the donut box holding me back from sugary heaven, I won’t hold it against them and will definitely return!

Nobody’s reviewed DLD in WF? Get outta here!
Well, just because nobody’s Unilocaled this place, does not mean that 1 000 000 people aren’t rolling through these doors every morning to get their sugar fix! If you come in here too late you’ll be greeted with a giant sign on the door that says «SOLD OUT». You really don’t want that to happen!
We rolled in just after 10am this morning and found the case about 70% wiped out. Not a surprise since it’s Valentine’s weekend and its late for donut breakfast. However, all of their donuts are good, so you just have your selection narrowed down to make it a little easier on yourself this way!
We selected a random assortment of donuts and both particularly loved the Valentine Sprinkle and the Cheesecake Donuts! Yum, yum, yum!
Only recommendation is to make sure you go downtown to Wake Forest Coffee Shop to get your coffee, since the coffee at Day Light Donuts just doesn’t do it for me!
