This is a really cool idea for a food truck. Who doesn’t want a snow cone on a hot humid day in the summer?! You can either order what flavor snow cone you want or get to do it yourself! The do it yourself option is creative and adds a little fun into ordering your snow cone. Also, I love just getting a mixture of flavors and having them all blend together! The ice does melt fast in the summer heat so make sure to also eat this fast or get inside where it won’t melt as quick. I got the peach mango and red raspberry flavors and they were very good and refreshing. If you see this food truck around, I’d recommend stopping by and cooling down with a snow cone!

Carina and her crew are top notch. We had Kona Ice at our neighborhood event for about 100 people. It was a hit for the adults and children! Great service, great product and wonderful people. Pricing was very reasonable.

What a neat idea! Kona Ice is self-serve shaved ice! Think your fro-yo store moved to a food truck and with shaved ice in a cup and syrups that you pour over it! What a great idea! A small cup of ice is $ 3 and you can add whatever type of toppings you want, which are handles from the side of the truck(they have about 10 flavors, you can get others put on by request). I did the self-serve, and it’s harder than it looks! At first, I didn’t put nearly enough syrup on, then I went back and doused it with too much. If I go back, I will definitely order one of the menu flavors that they put on(I was just too excited and all the flavors mixed together and didn’t go over right). The service was great! I dropped my first cup of ice and they replaced it. Definitely a kid-friendly food truck and an awesome idea!

really this is more towards a 3.45 for me… but i can’t give half stars, so 3 it is! with the potential for a 4 someday. I’ve never been a huge fan of snow cones, until i had the kind of snow cone that was shaved ice. It was like eating flavored snow, and i found it to be icey heaven in a cup. Unfortunately though, Kona was not that little heaven in a cup for me. in fact it was the kind of snowcone that for me, gave snow cones a bad name. They take ice and pulverize it into tiny ice pellets. Little crunchy bits of ice. It’s not my favorite. Another issue I had was the syrup dispenser is on the side of the truck. So basically they give you a cup a pulverized ice(for a fair and reasonable price) and then it’s up to you to put your own syrup on it. This in theory is a cool concept b/c YOU control how much syrup you get, which is pretty cool. The down side to this is you end up leaking syrup all over your hand and down the side of the cup as your trying to make sure the ice is covered, this in turn leaves you with an icky sticky mess. And when they gave me my ice, no handy dandy napkin came with it, so i had to go back and ask for some napkins, which they only gave me 1. It might be helpful to have some wipes available to the masses to help with this issues. The other issue is tracking the truck down. They have a facebook page with a calender with their public events. Currently nothing is listed on the calender. However it is still«winter» so it might be more up to date in the summer time. Their probably just running out to popular places(like Shelly Lake where we found them) on pretty days to catch some business, which is a great idea! My husband loves them dearly and is addicted to their sour grape, so being able to find them is very helpful! But before you call me debbie downer I will highlight their positives 1. Priced well! 2. A good selection of flavors but not an overwhelming list, i think there were like 8 available? and you can mix and match at will. 3. It’s a refreshing treat and the syrups are good quality. 4. They will come to you! I’ve heard that you can request them to drive through certain areas and they will when possible. You can also book them for a party. What a cool idea?! Snow cones on demand! Overall a solid snowcone if you like the ice pellet method of snowconeness. Good flavor options, you can control the syrup level, it’s fast, refreshing… now if there were just some napkins and wipes available it would be 4 star for me!

Yum! Sour Grape! This is my FAVORITE Snow Cone! Sour Grape BEATS the Competition and that is NO Sour Grapes! Advantage Kona! Lost on my way to a Thrift Store, I found Kona at an Event I was NOT invited to at Shelly Lake! So the disadvantage is, you must FIND them which is probably easy once you practice looking at their Website! Shaved Ice as Fine as Snow! Not like some where the ice is in chunks, this is FINE! Some SnoBall places Close for the«Winter» it was pretty warm today, near 70, and half the kids I saw wear in swimwear = Snow Cones? I think so!!!

We had Kona Ice come and serve at our company picnic. The employees — and especially their kids! — LOVED it! They enjoyed the novelty of a food truck coming to the party, they thought it was great that they could dispense the flavors themselves, of course, they enjoyed the yummy dessert(These are not even in the same league as your typical snow cone!), and the person running the truck was personable and professional. And as the person who had to do all of the set-up, the Kona Ice people were delightful and easy to work with. I can’t say enough. The only reason why I did not give it a 5 star is that it does seem a tad bit expensive. But then again, you are paying for more than just ice and syrup — you are paying for novelty, quality, and convenience.

#1: Snow cones are not difficult to make. #2: Snow cones are inexpensive to make. #3: The best part about snow cones is the flavored syrup. With that said, I am a fan of Kona Ice. Their ice is actually shaved, not just crushed, which makes a big texture difference. They have tons of different flavors to choose from(probably at least 40). They have a fountain drink-like dispenser that allows you to put your own flavors(or combinations of) and how ever much you want on yourself, which is awesome. The only reason why I gave them 4-stars(as opposed to 5) was that it is kind of expensive($ 3-$ 5) for ice and sugar… This ice-mobile is perfect for a hot, humid summer North Carolina day.

When the Kona Ice truck is a rockin, come a knockin! When we hear the music and see the colorful truck come turning on to our street, the kids go crazy. Kona has a great way to attract kids to it and make adults smile. The flavors of syrup they offer for their ice is awesome. My personal favorite is the sour apple, but the Birthday Cake is amazing. My daughters cannot get enough of the personalized spout area to make their«suicides» they like to drink. A great alternative to the summer ice cream trucks, Kona is always welcome!

Food truck. Shaved ice. Cinnamon. Raspberry. I like pretty much cinnamon or raspberry anything. So I was pretty stoked about seeing shaved ice with cinnamon and nothing but cinnamon. It was awesome. It was served in a perfectly shaped dome of ice. By the time I slurped my way to the bottom of the cup it was nothing but slightly diluted cinnamony syrup. The hot cinnamon really isn’t real cinnamon; it tastes like those small red-hot candies common around valentines day or that you get in boxes at the movie theatre. But that’s okay. Cold ice and hot cinnamon make a perfect conflation of flavors. And the sugar rush from all that syrupy sugary flavoring helped me make it through the boring afternoon meeting. Kona has lots more flavors, and I can also recommend the raspberry daiquiri. It’s a viable alternative to the real ones. And, when the weather gets warmer, this will be a perfect respite from the heat. The Kona truck also has flavored water available from the spigots in a small cutout near the back of the truck. I can understand why this is a popular truck for kids parties.
