Chameleons consignment shop seems upscale in its new location, but don’t be fooled. The store is disorganized, the owner doesn’t return phone calls, has a laundry list of excuses, no idea where items a customer dropped off for consignment might be: umm storage? ooo no, maybe the Westerly store? oops can’t find… nope, don’t have it. I am still waiting for clothes to be returned to me from 6 months ago. I did want them returned if not sold, not donated which they will do anyway it seems. If you do decide to do business with Chameleons, my advice is leave nothing with them of any value(designer items) and be certain to get a printed list of the items you wish to consign *before you leave the store*. Then check in every other week. Read the filtered reviews as well.

I love the new location right on Main Street. It feels larger and is much brighter with all the windows. I have not had the negative experience that 1 reviewer wrote about consigning here. I have brought a variety of items(clothing, shoes, purses, & jewelry) and they have been wonderful to work with. I drive from Providence to this shop because I think they are easier to work with than the shops in PVD that are expecting all designer brands. You, like most consignment stores, have the option to donate unsold items or come back to pick them up yourself. You have the option to spend dollars earned(like merchandise credit) or be paid by check. New consigners should make an appointment. If bringing in 15+ items, they do ask that you schedule an appointment too. This store has every day-type items with a mix of designer items too. I will keep bringing my items here and looking through what is available.

I donated a few boxes of beautiful designer clothes here before I moved away. On returning back to RI for a visit, i went to see what had sold and to pick up a check from them, since at other consignment stores where I had left things before I moved I had checks waiting for me. When i went by this store there was not only no check but they had completely lost any record of me. nothing. not only did they lose or not remember all i had brought by they didn’t even have the courtesy to call me back. i called three time and they never returned my call, bad business

Don’t ever sell anything here! They lie and are disorganized — they don’t take responsibility for their own actions and don’t respond to communication. If you want to consign in the area, go somewhere else or to Wish in Newport.

I have been here on 2 occasions I LOVE how the shop is set up Really nice items MANY name brands They have a $ 2 rack, yup… all items on the rack are only 2 bucks!!! Tons of shoes, jewelry, purses, jammies, shirts, skirts, pants & dresses. It is like a little hidden gem on Robinson Street. They are always doing a fundraiser of some sort and I have to say, the items that you can get in here are a fraction of the cost you would pay elsewhere. Highly recommend a stop in :) I might have to later in the week!!!
