I am so disappointed with Nick’s. My family has been buying from Nick’s for over 40 years. They have always been a favorite for meats and liquor. Until recently, I bought some of their stuffed ham. It looked wonderful but tasted awful. When I confronted Nick on this he replied that it tasted good to him. The customer service is horrible. If you buy something don’t expect to get your money back. I read some of the reviews and see that most people are happy with Nick’s , that is until I started asking around. They have alienated many of the locals. And. I have been told the crabmeat and meat is being processed outside the country. I will never spend my money at Nick’s again.

I loved Nicks of Clinton! I was able to get fresh pizza dough and breaded oysters to fry. This grocery store has so many specialty items other stores don’t have. The only downside is that basic grocery items are pricier here.

I think 4.5 stars would be closer to real but I love the place and it will be my go to for sausage and meats. I stopped here a few days back to check it out. I was going to stop in for lunch with my oldest son, but didn’t happen. I came back two days later with my wife to just look around. I bought some polish, hot italian and brats. They had like 7 other kind that I will be back for. When I got home I did the brats on the grill after a soak in some beer and onions. I did the italians in some sauce with onions and peppers. I love their sausage.(Insert joke there) There is no chunks of gristle in there, their sausages have a lot of flavor, and they eat smoothly. Meaning the texture is good. And price wise, they are cheaper than Johnsonville(taste WAY better). The liquor part of it seemed alright. I do my liquor purchases at a Class VI so… But they offered growlers of beer there? The question mark is because there was no one there so I assume I have to ask. The selection seemed pretty large, so I will be back there for that alone. The market part seemed ok. They carry their own brand of spices and sauces. Plus the butcher counter reminds me of old school grocers. The deli prices compete with safeway and the like too. They have a large selection of italian goods, but I wished it was larger. Give me an inch, I will take a foot if I can get away with it. Their lunch counter was alright too. Nothing that was show stopping, but it was good. I got a steak and cheese sub. Tasted good and was not greasy. Win-Win if you ask me. I am going back again and again. I found my go to polish sausage(I miss Chicago) here in Southern Maryland!

THISSTOREDOESNOTSTANDBYTHEQUALITYORTHESAFETYOFTHEIRMEAT. THEYSELLROTTENMEATTHATSMELLSLIKEDEATH. ABSOLUTELYHORRIBLE!!! We have been going to this store for over years. My husband and I have been purchasing our meat from Nick’s for years. On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving my husband purchased the two packs of beef short ribs. We actually would have liked to buy three packs but there were only two left. We were so happy that we able to get those two packs because it is one of our favorite products to purchase at Nick’s. On Wednesday when my husband opened the packages of meat so that he could marinate it in preparing for Thanksgiving, the smell was SOHORRIBLE, it literally smelled like DEATH!!! He had to open all the windows to air out the kitchen and then wrapped the meat up. The smell was just rising into the air. ITWASCLEARLYROTTEN and/or tainted meat. We were so disappointed because it was the dish we were supposed to serve for Thanksgiving dinner and by then it was too late to replace it before Thanksgiving. My husband wrapped the meat in several layers of plastic and we kept it the refrigerator until Friday, the day after Thanksgiving when the store reopened. My husband returned to Nicks to let the manager know that they sold us ROTTEN meat and to request a refund. The store manager was RUDE, NASTY and so DISRESPECTFUL. He refused to refund us the $ 25 we paid for the rotten meat. He showed no concern or care that we couldn’t use the meat because it’s a healthy hazard. He said he will only refund $ 9 for one package of meat and that it was our own choice not to cook and eat the second package of meat. Who in their right mind would cook or consume the second package of meat when the first one is clearly a health hazard. The manager admitted himself that one pack of meat was«very bad» and«rotten» but then said that we should have eaten and used the second pack because it’s probably ok. Then he said we would have to call the owner and see if he will refund the rest of the money. The owner also took no responsibility. It’s not about the money, it’s about how a business treats its customers and the safety of food that you distribute to the public. We have no issue paying top dollar for organic meats at stores like Wegman’s. And now we will NEVER be back to Nick’s of Clinton. We have referred so many friends and neighbors to Nick’s over the years and now it’s really sad to find the type of owner, manager and business Nick’s of Clinton really is. What if we contracted E-COLI from their products!!! Obviously they wouldn’t care. THEOWNER of the STOREREFUSESTOREFUNDFORROTTENMEATTHATIS A HEALTHHAZARDTOTHEPUBLIC. Best place to go for fresh meats. Get the prime rib steak and cheese from the deli with everything on it. So good!

After having the worst corned beef sandwich ever from subway a few weeks ago, I decided to try a corned beef sandwich from Nicks. It was sooo good! And pretty cheap too. I will definitely be back!

Ordered the Prime Rib steak and cheese with provolone fries and Nicks did not disappoint. I finally can say I have a local spot to go to for great cheese steak subs!

Nick’s is amazing! So much better than your normal neighborhood store. They have the best fresh meat to choose from! Their deli is amazing, though some of the ladies that work there aren’t the friendliest. I know it’s busy and it gets hectic, but keep in mind, if it wasn’t busy, they wouldn’t need you to work there. Grumpiness aside, the cream of crab soup that they sell, is AWESOME! They also make really good subs and their prices a great! Back to the fresh cut meat… we have never been disappointed with the meats we have purchased. The prices are very comparable to grocery stores… and you’re getting freshly cut meat! No brainer, really! They have a small but nice fresh fruit/veg area and a very extensive liquor selection! I recommend stopping by and checking it out! Keep in mind, the deli section is usually ALWAYS busy, so make sure you have time to wait a few minutes!

This store is always very clean and well stocked with items that you may not find in your traditional grocery store. I enjoy the subs but be prepared to wait during the lunch hours because of the popularity. I can never eat an entire sub in one sitting. The meat is piled on high and all the additional fixings and condiments one can ask for only 4 bucks. You will not be disappointed at all with the meat selections. You want steaks for dinner then come here!

This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star. I can not believe a business with such awful customer service is still in business! I will never, ever step foot in this place again. Last Saturday, on my way to the bay for the weekend, my friend and I stopped in Nick’s to get some beer and grab some sandwiches. The minute I stepped in the business, the Maryland Trooper latched his eyes on me and continued to watch me for the 10 – 15 minutes I grazed their selections. Did he ever ask for an ID? Ask my age? No. Just disturbingly tracked my every move. I am a 25 year old female, and I completely understand that I look younger than I am. I would’ve been happy to show him I was of age if he would’ve just used his big boy words. About 20 minutes later, after waiting FOREVER for our dang subs, my friend and I got in line to pay for our purchases. My friend went first, and the cashier politely asked her for ID. After accepting hers, she put her hand up on her hip and asked me for mine. I quickly handed her my Virginia license. She barely looks at it and says, «We can’t take it, sorry.» Turns out, this business rejected my Virginia drivers license that doesn’t expire until 2017, because it was vertical. It even states on my card that I received it in 2010, 3 years after I turned 21. If the store simply had a scanner, they wouldn’t need to discriminate against their customers like this. Worst part is, the cashier then very rudely told my friend that she couldn’t purchase any beer either, because she was WITH me. SERIOUSLY? The cashier began to joke and blame it on Virginia’s license laws, but it was BS and I wasn’t laughing. It was bad enough to have a «rule» against vertical ID, but it’s down right embarrassing to reject the person with the valid one. What kind of patrons must this business think they serve? They rejected my would-be purchase of over $ 90.00. The cashier was rude, the deli staff was rude, the Trooper was creepy and this pathetic excuse for a business will never get my business again. Oh, and the sub was alright, bread was stale. Avoid this place at ALL costs.

Went there today 10 lbs pound chicken leg quarters 7.99, great for baking/grilling 2.29 for boneless skinless chicken breast that I will be using in lettuce wraps for Mondays dinner got that marinating now, 2.29 for 10 good size Roma type tomatoes in a pack, 21.99 jumbo lump crab meat, made crab cakes for dinner and .99 cents for my fancy blood orange sparkling soda. Clean store, diverse staff, nice check out personnel. I ball out on a budget so I was at my limit today. But next time I will go hard for a small prime rib roast. Was quite crowded already at 10am and I believe they open at 9. Some prices are comparative to grocery stores, some a little less, some a little more. I also will browse the wine section next time, I am not a drinker but enjoy those sparkling fruity white wines. It’s a girl thing I guess. So in a nut shell I like this place so far, even my significant other said he liked the store and you can’t pay him to go into a grocery store unless there is the promise of ice cream and cake or pie. Will try the deli counter next time if I can beat the crowd, I’ve heard there is some good roast beef over there.

Great butcher shop and more! This is the place where we buy all our meat and seafood. Good prices and great quality. Take a number; it’s worth the wait. Also, delicious subs, great wine and liquor selection, and excellent frozen foods. Try Nick’s meatballs or stuffed shells; they can’t be beat! Nick’s is awesome!

Every time I drive past here I stop to stock up on meats, mostly sausages. They have been great every time. I usually stick with the Polish Sausage but the last two times I stopped they were out. However, that allows me to try different kinds. The Louisiana Hot is great as well but spicy, more so than the Jalapeño Sausage which is surprisingly not spicy. It’s one of the only dedicated butcher’s in SOMD but it is first rate. The wait can be long but it is worth it. Since it was lunch time I decided to try a sub which I had heard great things about. It exceeded my expectations. The bread was perfect, the meat was good and the condiments were perfect. I would definitely rank it in the top three Italian Cold Cut subs I have ever had. Not to mention it was the special of the day so it was only $ 2.99. If you are ordering from both the Deli and the Butcher grab both tickets at the same time so you can cut down on your wait.

Oh how I miss thee Nicks! This has been my go to spot for the sandwiches since I was a wee Suitland Ram!!! There used to be three locations, but I guess this is the only one that continues to stand the test of time. It is located in a small shopping center off of I believe 228 after you cross over 301 going in the southern direction. I don’t believe that it is easy to notice from the road, and the parking IMO is slight. Some spots only allow for a mere 30 minutes. The store itself is like a plethora of all things good. You need liquor, BAM! go this way. Oh you wanted fresh meat? Bam! Head to the back. You want a bomb a sugah sugah sammich with a side of fries or potato salad? Bloop! Hit the side jack! Anything and everything you want is here. The prices are reasonable and the butchers know what they are doing. I only wish I were home more often to satiate my desire for thee botton popper. Try it. I dare ya!

stopped in specifically for the deli. Unilocal and others had said how great the sandwiches/subs are. I gotta say, I was disappointed. my beefeater sub was bland. the roll was fantastic, and probably had the most flavor over the rest of the sub. my wife pretty much felt the same with her crab cake sandwich, though the crab cake, itself, tasted great. now I know there is a lot more to Nicks than the deli, but I’m not so sure it bumps up the rating anymore in my book.

They would get 5 stars from me, except they don’t honor Military ID cards as a valid form of ID to purchase liquor. Our service men and women can go fight for your freedom, but you can’t honor their cards? When complaining to the manager, he flat our told me «If you don’t like it, go elsewhere. I really don’t care.» I really wish they didn’t have such dang good roast beef and sandwiches, because I would totally boycott them for being jerks.

Best deli in SOMD. Best meats also. Need a specialty cut, go to Nicks. This is one of the establishments that bind residents to Charles County. Today, there were free sample tastings on the deli counter of the new $ 6.99 steak and provolone cheese sub. I got one. Wow! On my 1st bite, I jettisoned my plan to buy a small container of healthier chicken salad. Instead of stopping by Safeway on the way home, I go directly home because I want to enjoy my sub while it was hot. On a warmer day you could buy a soda and eat your sub in the outdoor gazebo area. I have done that before. Wow! This is sinful. I pledge to myself that I will have a light dinner because the sub is really enough lunch for 2, so much steak. The bun was toasted and I added mayo, hot peppers, lettuce/tomatoes and sautéed onions. For the Philadelphia steak and cheese purist, I am pretty sure you could get another kind of cheese and change the stuff I added if it does not meet your PA standards. LOL We bough a Turducken(a LA thing; turkey, duck and chicken) in a box from Nick’s for Thanksgiving and our friend cooked it to perfection. Try it. The box is in the freezer near the front. Also try Nick’s MD stuffed ham if you like spicy. Order some from the deli first. If you fall in love with it, look for the family size frozen MD Stuffed ham near the Turducken. Don’t forget to buy extra stuffing(spicy greens). Eat the MD ham on a potato roll for the full experience. This ham is good cold. Also try the italian sausages(or any of the sausages) grilled. We have visiting family who take a box home with them when they leave. I could rattle on but will not.
