I don’t know what I was thinking, but I went back to this place again. I guess it’s because I enjoyed their food so much when I was little that I still have hope they will improve. Nope, not this time. Their food is even more bland now than it was before. I don’t think that was possible but it is. The broth for the wonton soup tasted like it was lightly salted water. The egg rolls are now even smaller than my last review and cost over $ 2 each. Who charges more than $ 2 for an egg roll? This time I’m done!

I’ll have to give this a qualified meh. The food is actually decent, and was generally well done and tasted fresh. My problems really revolved around portion size relative to cost. Essentially, while the food was good, the portions were smaller and more expensive than other options that taste as fresh and flavorful in the area, such as Fortune Cookie in Prince Frederick. I imagine the large overhead involved in the location may play a part, and I understand that, but the value was just a tad subpar compared to some other places. (Plus, the packaging was rushed and disappointing. Our dumplings were jammed into such a small package that they became mashed together, for example). Overall, while I enjoyed the food, the portions relative to cost, and the packaging, resulted in a poor overall experience. Our order: I had honey chicken with walnuts. This was very good. My wife had Singapore noodles. She said they were OK(her exact words) and lacked spice. The dumplings were good, although the packaging made them essentially one big dumpling.

We’ve lived in Southern Maryland now for over 10 years and had never heard of this place until a friend recommended them a few months ago. Definitely disappointed it took us so long to try them out! We’ve eaten here twice and the foods been excellent both times. The first time we dined was after catching a late movie(around 9:45 — 10 pm on a Saturday night) and it was pretty much empty(gotta say I was worried!) however the food came out fresh, piping hot, & tasty! The second time was again after a catching a movie but this time it was right around 8 pm… it was PACKED! We had to wait roughly 30 minutes to get a table… but it was worth it. We’re creatures of habit so we ordered the same items both times… Wonderful Chicken(the names not lying its absolutely wonderful) reminded me of a cross between a General Tso’s & Orange Chicken, Broccoli Beef(full of tender beef & crispy broccoli), Egg Rolls, Spring Rolls(the hot mustard that comes with the egg rolls & spring rolls is ahhhmazing! so spicy and intense!), Pork Lo Mein(WOW theirs is really really good!) & their PuPu Platter. I really wanted to give them 5 stars because the food is 5 star material… however the service both times has just been ok. When we dined I had to pretty much wave down our waiter/waitress to ask for another beer or another cocktail. Its like they take your order and then you never see them again until your food is ready. That being said I wouldn’t hesitate to eat their again… infact we’re taking the kids to the movies this weekend and we’ll be dining at Szechuan Gardens afterwards.

Such a disappointment. We were looking for a new«go to» sit down Chinese restaurant and had hoped this would be really good. The space is very nice and the service was good but not great. The real problem was the food. We had a group of 4 and we each ordered something different and they were all not good. We started with egg rolls. The egg rolls themselves were okay but the sauces they served with them were terrible. I had no idea what kind of sauce it was it was light red and tasted like a very watered down mambo sauce with a ketchup feel. I thought maybe this was a house sauce and requested some duck sauce and was informed this was duck sauce(yikes) so I asked for maybe a plum sauce or something and our server offered sweet & sour. I agreed that would be fine. I should have stuck with the other sauce. So we opted to eat our egg rolls without sauce. We did get an order of Crunchy Shrimp Roll sushi and it was really good. By far the best thing served that night. I ordered Hunan Shrimp and it was really not good. Very salty with a very odd tasting sauce. Definitely not Hunan. The other dishes were equally not good. I tasted them all and wouldn’t order any of them again and I really like Chinese food. The prices are really high. Especially for Chinese food and in Charles County. Our bill was $ 95 for 4 egg rolls 1 roll sushi and 4 dinners — Hunan Shrimp, Singapore Noodles, Double delight and Chicken with Black bean sauce. If everything had tasted good or even kind of good I probably wouldn’t even have written a review. But the food was really awful. :-(

Worst Chinese food Ive ever had. We had four people all with different stuff and only one of our meals was tolerable. Sushi was pretty good but anything with sauce was just plain not good. Also veryyyyy expensive. We’ll never return. Yeah no thanks.

This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant. After moving to the burbs from the city I was a bit pessimistic about finding good, quality places to eat, but was pleasantly surprised. The food is fresh and flavorful and obviously prepared by people who know what they’re doing and take pride in their work. I’ve never had to ask for a refill for my drinks. My glass was never less than half full. The staff is very attentive and relatively friendly. I’ve had about eight different dishes so far and they all have been delicious and filling. The portions are perfectly sized so that you leave full, not bloated like a fat cow. Looking forward to exploring more of their menu.

Love this place, the food is pricey but it good and the service is excellent. U don’t have to ask for anything. Like u do at other restaraunt, they work together and it works

The owners of this restaurant used to own a whole in the wall restaurant in a different shopping center of Waldorf over a decade ago when I was but a wee child. Our family remembers going and having their whole fish with spicy chilli sauce, and having it be quite the memorable family gathering whenever we did so. I think the majority of my dad’s coworkers had complained about high prices of this place. We came here after the holidays as a belated get together. We ordered the fish again, but it is probably 2⁄3 the size of the fish it once was. It was also probably 1⁄3 more expensive. We ordered other dishes, which still tasted great but yes, were kind of expensive for a restaurant out in the middle of Waldorf(says the person who has grown far too accustomed to DC prices). You know what though? Good Chinese food just doesn’t exist in Northern VA/DC, so I guess PG County knows they have something we don’t and will charge more. Not sure that locals will, though. This location is large and nice enough; you can find it right across the street from BJ’s and the mall.

My wife and I found several roaches in our Hunan Shrimp. Will never recommend or eat there ever again. Worst experience ever and I fed this to my children! I also posted pictures of our delivery.

This is my second visit for carry out food and I am very impressed with the freshness and quality of the food. The serve sushi also. My favorite roll is the Anny Roll. j have not eaten in the restaurant but is beautifully designed. I think this is the best Chinese food in the area!

So I just left here and am so disappointed. I used to love this place even back at its old location. I decided to try the sesame chicken today. It honestly was covered in sauce but had no flavor. When I cut inside, the chicken was dark gray. It kind of freaked me out and the chicken smelled like a wet dog. I needed to get to work so I made no fuss but was pretty disgusted. Overall pretty disappointed in a restaurant I used to love.

I came here a few years ago and from what I remembered it was pretty good! Yesterday, I came here with my boyfriend and I was not happy at all. The waiter was extremely rude and decided to pay more attention to a group that was dining in that must be regulars. Either way, that is rude. He never checked on us and only talked to us when our food was ready. About the food, I’m sure your local carry out or delivery Chinese restaurant is 100x better. The lo mein was very bland and the soup tasted like water. If you are going to charge me an arm and a leg for food, at least make it taste half decent! Also, the food made me feel sick after, so do your stomach and wallet a favor and don’t eat here! I will NOT be going here ever again and I recommend people not to go here either. It’s a nice looking restaurant, and that’s all that is good about this place. Bad service and overcharged food!

One sign of a good Chinese restaurant is they do not have the zodiac and/or animal of the year placemats, which this place had. The party that I was with ordered typical Chinese food. Shrimp and Scallop in Garlic Sauce — There was too much sauce compared to the shrimp and scallops. It tasted a little bland. Singapore Noodles — This dish was actually liked by all. They have more meat and vegetables then the noodles which is a good thing. Whole Fried Fish(Red Snapper) — I was pleasantly surprised with this dish. It was so crispy even the section of the fish that was drenched in sauce was crispy. The fish meat was tender, flaky, and flavorful. I tend to gravitate to authentic Chinese restaurants, which this place is not. In other words, I like the weird stuff. Since they had a Japanese section, I ordered a sashimi platter. Just as long the fish was fresh, what could go wrong? I was wrong. You could still taste frozen ice crystals in half of the sashimi. The platter was $ 28 for frozen sashimi. I can go get a fresh comparable sashimi platter at other places for $ 12 to $ 19. In all, there is nothing special with this place except for the service. They were very nice and accommodating. If you like Americanized Chinese food, then this place is for you.

Knowing the owners of a place can really make or break an experience. My girlfriends and I have been coming here for years since we lived in Waldorf. They have their faces plastered on the back of the bar from years of pageanting and being local celebs, and thus, we have been able to walk up to the bar, give Kiki hugs and chat like there’s no tomorrow. A few beers or Mai Tais(try them here!) and all is well. Almost all of us have moved out of the area now, but we all make an attempt to come back here now for a few drinks to say hi and catch up over a few rainbow rolls and some chicken and broccoli. I can’t comment on the sit down service because for the past 5 years all we have ever done is sit at the bar and have drinks and sushi rolls, but never have we had a bad experience here, and something caused us to start coming here in the first place to be considered«regulars». Now obviously less so, but it’s still a little bit of nostalgia when we’re all in the same state and we have to make a trip down to a tiny little Chinese/sushi place in Waldorf that we used to frequent.
