I’m not giving 5 stars because the food’s the best in town. I’m not giving it because the service is the best(though both rate plenty high). I’m giving 5 stars because Tommy’s has achieved greasy spoon perfection. This venerable Sunday morning destination sits at the ramshackle edge of the industrial district right between the highway and a power plant. Tommy’s is a testament to what breakfast and lunch diners offer. The obligatory farm workers chatting over coffee, the comfortable, casual cosmetic of the building and it’s servers, the seasoned tabletops laden with good sized portions, and the the simple menu(both in terms of options, aesthetic, and flavor) are all there. The prices sit squarely at something from 20 years ago and the recipes have been around at least twice that long. If you like this kind of place then you’ll be satisfied. If not, you won’t be missed.

Really torn between 4 and 5 stars here. This is an old«greasy spoon» diner with great service and friendly, hardworking staff. A couple of kids behind the counter are Junior ROTC and were on the ball. They were working hard and were super polite. The coffee was kept fresh and the food arrived quickly despite being busy. Everything I ordered was solid. The cheese and mushroom omelet had plenty of cheese and fresh mushrooms. The French Toast was spot on and just as good as some I had eaten at a fancy downtown breakfast spot the day before. Was it the absolute best dinning experience I have ever had? probably not. But the quality of the food along with great service at a reasonable price means I would not hesitate to go back.

Fast service. Food was below avg. I had bfast. The toast was stale and the side of sausage links overdone. Looked l like they were cooked in the microwave.

Best Chicken Fried Steak ever! We are from out of town and enjoyed the local flair. Coffee was great, thanks for keeping our cup full.

It’s a pretty standard little diner. Food is just as you would expect. The hashbrowns were definitely the group favorite. Very large portion sizes. The bacon we got was definitely undercooked. The main reason I’m giving them 3 stars is that it took us nearly an hour to get our food. We never got an apology or explanation so I’m assuming that’s a normal thing.

Remarkably friendly, attentive service despite it being unusually packed due to the Gentlemen of the Road — Walla Walla Stopover. We had to wait for 30 minutes but that was much more reasonable than the 2 hour wait at Maple Counter. This place is on the smaller side and doesn’t look like much from the outside but I like the home-y vibe on the inside. Add to that, the fact that there are regulars/old-timers that the staff greet by name makes for a very comfy, family/small-town orientated place. The food was reasonably priced and the portions were huge! Despite the crowd, it came out in decent time and everything tasted fresh and homemade. I even saw a woman hand peeling potatoes in the back. I had the biggest food coma after breakfast and I’m usually not a big breakfast fan. I’d definitely recommend here if you are looking for a simple, no-frills place with quality food and service.

Your quintessential small town diner. Family run, great service, real.good.food. Sit at the counter and enjoy the show. Short order cooks that know what they’re doing are fun to watch. A great place to get breakfast!

If I could give it 6 stars I would. Great breakfast! The chicken fried steak was the best I have ever had outside of Texas. The biscuits and gravy were very good and hash browns crispy.

Drove by not thinking to stop, had another place in mind … But my inner self said I needed to go and glad I did. This is the place you hear about and just need to make the effort to stop! Local favorite slinging some great breakfast and lunch. Lots to choose from … Giant Pancakes, Biscuits ‘n Gravy, Chicken Fried Steak, Slabs of Grilled Ham and eggs to your liking … all served in a cozy little spot just off the main highway. A definite must if you like hearty breakfast food heaped on a plate at a very reasonable price! Tables and counter service but be prepared to wait just a bit as they are very popular. I took a spot at the counter, my favorite chair for a breakfast meal and had the Chicken Fried Steak with Hash Browns and Eggs over easy. Everything was great! Definitely coming back.

Nice home style dinner. They have a big round table for old timers to gather at breakfast. Great food and company.
