Just not good. The service is awful, the food that we ordered took forever to get. This is the third time coming in and trying the place so I can make an accurate review. Great selection of beer, but that’s about it.

Been here twice don’t really think I’ll be back for a 3rd time. This place is a lil rough around the edges. Grill cook(dirty blonde hair I think one of the owners) coming out of the kitchen yelling across the dining room to say hello people with clothes looking very greasy to the Hostess picking up someone’s child and walking around the dining room. Wife ordered fried scallops breading falling off tasted rubbery over cooked. I ordered a $ 20 Burger way too big for the bun ate half of it with fork and knife. Speaking of knives had a dirty knife told the waitress she took it over to the hand sink and rinsed it off !! This place hasn’t been open a year and already needs Bar Rescue or Restaurant Impossible.

First time coming to this restaurant; will not return as food tasted as if made by chain restaurant with copious amounts of salt. I asked waitress if it was a chain restaurant because steak and shrimp [daily special] tasted like something you’d get at Outback or 99 restaurant and not even as good. Atmosphere is terrible; I’m not sure how anyone could find this place inviting or the food good especially as it is overpriced. Service was slow; for the price of my meal [$ 34] could have gone to a much nicer restaurant in downtown Wallingford were I could be assured of quality. I should have returned the meal but did not want to offend however, now that I feel as if I have food poisoning, this restaurant is getting a bad review.

Went in last week for Ladies night w/my friend. Sat at the bar and ordered some apps. The chicken tenders(could have used a minute or two in the fryer, still good) and the nachos(good, loaded w/cheese and crispy). They had good drink specials at the bar for ladies night and apps that were featured were cheap as well. Nice place to go grab a drink and hang out. The steak’s that were being delivered to other diners looked fab and smelled great too. One thing I noticed is this place has a lot of blue… a lot. LOL. The owner was nice, spoke to us and said that next door they are expanding and opening up a bar/seating area and will be doing live music, trivia etc. Nice to see a local business here in Wallingford doing well! It is an easy place to drive right by, but just look for Rite-Aid and it is directly across the street in the strip mall. I will be back, and I will try some more items off the menu!!! :)

Our party of four dined here in the afternoon of April 24, Sunday. I will say this is a place that is new, but has a lot of promise. Let’s start with the appetizer, the colossal wings: nice crispy chicken wings of good quality and flavor. For main entrée, the flaming Jan was very tender, and I appreciate the pepper flavor in the Au Poivré preparation. The side salad that comes with the entrée was very colorful and tasty. Overall, a pretty good value at $ 24. The only dessert feature for the day were chocolate cake pops, but they were much better than the average cake pop for sure. I was also pleased to find Seahag as well as a host of other great local beers. Hats off to Nichole L., Who was our server, as she was very attentive and friendly. I give it four stars, with the potential for five. The atmosphere is probably the one opportunity for improvement. This place reads more like a sports bar than a steakhouse, I feel the mostly casual atmosphere is just a bit confusing for those accustomed to steakhouses. I will be back to this place, and I recommend grabbing up the Groupon, while it is still available, it is a fantastic deal.

On a whim we decided to give Brew and Steak a try. This was the best steak dinner I have had out in a very long time !! This is a excellent place. Great food, great service. If you want a great meal, eat here. Drinks are awesome too!

Food quality was low at best, service was horrible and extremely slow. Over priced and horrible quality food! We went on a Tuesday night and waited over an hour for the entrée. When it finally came none of the sides were brought out. Notified the waitress when she finally came back 10 minutes later, she apologized and said«Oh Yeah» but still never came back with them! Save your money and stay home!!! Amazed they are still.open.

Me and my bf went to dinner here on a Sunday after I purchased a groupon. I figured steak and beer, great combo! The first 45 mins of sitting there was not great, at all. In all that time all we received from the waitress was our drinks, and our salads. After 40 mins, I was told the plate I ordered, there is no more of. The tuna that I really wanted was also crossed off the menu. So… I had to choose from literally 5 other options. No joke. I picked the NY Strip. And didn’t want to pay that price really but had no choice. So after ordering our second round of drinks(still starving) I asked to see the manager. This is when things started looking up. We explained to him how long we were there, how my plate I ordered was not available and the waitress forgot to tell me until 40 mins after I ordered! He gave us an appetizer on the house. Calamari. It was sort of chewy, but we were very hungry and no bread on the table. He also comped our drinks and gave me the NY strip for the price of my original order. All in all, it was good good, great beer. No excuse for this waitress. Apparently her first night, but I coulda done better with no experience. I wish there was more on the menu. And thank you to the manager saving the night

This place is getting better and better every time I visit. Great food. great drinks. friendly staff. It’s refreshing to have a place in Wallingford I can go to get a very very good steak. Furthermore albeit the name is brew and steak kings but they also have a absolutely great seafood. My girlfriend has raved about the raw bar when available as well as the ability to make a great martini! Me personally, have just started to eat seafood and I think the ny style fried calamari is out of this world good! Bottom line is I will be going back again again and again!

Wow. is all I need to say. This place is a food and beer lovers dream. First the draft line selections are simply amazing. Stuff you cant find anywhere else. Lawsons, Alesmith, Clown Shoes just to name a few, then the food is also perfect. I had the 14oz Ny Strip in a brandy cream sauce. are you kidding me? Wallingford should consider itself lucky. You wont find anything like this in the area. Get there early on the weekends. it fills up quickly!

After reading several of the reviews I figured it was hit or miss coming to Brew and Steak Kings but figured I would give it a shot. SOGLAD I DID A brief history. My business brings me to all the finest places in the country so please accept what I’m saying as reasonable. If you’re expecting an «over the top» steakhouse(Peter Luger’s, Capital Grille, Flemings) don’t come here. If you want a 21 day dry aged steak, AMAZINGBEER, and good service then come to Brew and Steak Kings. It is exactly as advertised, brew(more beers on tap that I could even begin to describe) and great steaks at a reasonable price without the pretense of steakhouses that charge double the price. Nice décor not over the top. Don’t expect walnut walls and wine cubbies. Go for a beer or two or three and have a steak and you won’t regret it.

I didn’t read the reviews of this place before going to celebrate a friend’s birthday but now I wish I had so I would’ve known what to expect. Atmosphere: I’ve eaten in plenty of amazing restaurants that are located in strip malls so I never let the outside deter me from going in somewhere. With that being said it seemed like a typical«bar» atmosphere from the outside of the building. A sign touting a beer tap takeover this weekend was prominently displayed and while the place looked a little empty it was 7PM on a Wednesday. The inside of the bar left something to be desired. Stark walls and as one reviewer mentioned lots of «blue». The bar area seemed awkwardly setup with a partitioned wall blocking the rest of the restaurant. The bar seemed like it could get crowded especially on a Wednesday which is boasted as ladies night. Our group of around 12 was cramped into a corner and the waitstaff was very accommodating and was able to reconfigure some tables in the dining area and we were all able to sit comfortably. The waiter we had, Tyler, was very attentive and refilled my seltzer before I asked which was nice. The Formica(or what appeared to be Formica) tabletops felt a little off in what was supposed to be a steakhouse and the paper napkins certainly made it feel more bar than restaurant. A few booths flanked the side wall and the hallway down to what I assumed was the restrooms was lit by some harsh fluorescent lights. All in all the place itself felt cold and not warm and cozy. I think rich wood when I think steakhouse, this place didn’t have that feel. Menu: The beer menu was extensive with lots of local brews and a couple of hard to find on tap beers which for a beer girl like me is nice. Had it not been a time when I wasn’t drinking I probably would’ve sampled a flight of some of the taps. The drink menu was also extensive boasting signature cocktails and a long wine list. All good things for a… bar… but this is a steak house remember. Now onto the food. Six appetizers, well what would consider appetizers, and five of them seafood. I opted for the«colossal» wings($ 13) and got 10 average sized wings in a basic mild wing sauce. Nothing to write home about unfortunately. The wings were cooked properly which isn’t hard to do. My friend got the Caesar salad(on the appetizer menu) and added chicken. The salad which she said tasted good wasn’t necessarily worth the $ 16 price tag. Two sets of people at our table ordered chips and salsa, one with guacamole. Unfortunately only one set was brought out. It seemed like the food was being staggered for some reason. No one at the table was offered water and glasses weren’t even out that I could see. Small side plates were at everyone’s place but there were no rolls offered(typically at a steakhouse). The entrees when they came out looked okay, I had only been there for appetizers and a quick visit so I can’t speak to their quality. I think that this place is slightly confused about what they should be, if they’re going to be a steak place then they should bring the atmosphere and quality of service up to a level on point with other steakhouses. We saw a group of people wait for 10 minutes at the hostess stand before even being acknowledged. Had I not motioned to one of the workers that there were people waiting I feel they probably would’ve walked out and not returned. If they’re going to be a craft brew bar then they should do that and drop the steak façade. Long short while I wish Brew & Steak Kings well in their restaurant adventure I don’t know that I’d return. Nothing about my visit made me WANT to go back or bring anyone with me. Hopefully they can work out their kinks and be something great.

Brew and Steak Kings was Fantastic tonight!!! I know that it was a blizzard this evening but the bar/Tyler was great and the kitchen stayed open until our full party arrived!!! So beer knowledge, kitchen/dinner delivery and total experience was excellence in motion!!!

Decided to give this place a whirl as it had been open for a few weeks & figured most of the kinks had been worked out. My first impression is that the décor is not very«cozy» or upscale. Everything is blue. Feels like a guy decorated it. «My favorite color is blue so I want my restaurant to be blue.» The menu is pretty basic. Our waitress came over & immediately talked about the beers and cocktails. There is ¼ page of the menu devoted to cocktails, so that leaves a page and juuuuuust about ¾ of the 2nd page for food. This place was created for drinkers. Our waitress comes back and tells us they are out of: the Rosemary chicken special, the NY strip and the wagyu burger, the entrees we were going to order. This is on a Saturday night. No NY strip on a Saturday night? At a steak place? We totally left. How do you not have enough meat to make it through a weekend service? We walked out and some guy was huffin’ a cigarette outside the front door(classy) and my husband and I both said this place won’t make it. The location is crappy, the décor is awful and they don’t seem to know how to manage their menu. We totally won’t go back.

I went with 3 friends for our annual Christmas dinner. I had heard about this place from a friend. It was explained as a place that had a good selection of local craft beer and local food. I expected nothing. New restaurant, who knows. I took a chance. I was not disappointed. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. Our waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable about the drinks and the menu and was able to make some good recommendations. The mixed drink menu was excellent. Well made drinks. I did not look too closely at the beer menu as it is not my particular interest but it appeared varied with mostly local breweries. We had the wing as an appetizer. They were flavorful. We got about 10 wings in one serving. More than enough for 4 people who were excited about the main course. The menu was basic. Mostly steak, oh wait, that’s the name of the place. The salad was small and seemed skimpy. The steak was excellent. Seasoned and cooked well. The sides were good also. Very good mashed potatoes. I had the pork. It was tender and flavorful. I wouldn’t go here expecting a gourmet complex meal. Go here expecting good service, friendly atmosphere and really good steak. The service was really good, except at the end. We ordered dessert. It took 20 minutes for dessert and coffee to come. Apparently the computer went down and orders were lost. I thought the server would have realized something was up when the order wasn’t ready. Maybe they relied too much on software to keep their flow. Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend this place. I would go back again.

We stopped in for lunch and a beer. First, they have one of the best craft beer selections around. With 26 craft beers they have selections from Lawson’s, New England Brewing and Maine Brewing to name a few of my favorites. We had the steak sandwich and meatball sandwich. Both were really good. I will come back and try them again for dinner.

Decent beer selection. Good local brews. Had the ultimate surf & turf with a 12 oz strip. It was really good. Was cooked perfectly. Was here on a monday night and the place was empty. Staff was very friendly and bartender was knowledgable about the beers.

I visited this restaurant for the first time on Black Friday. Sufficient to say, I was grumpy and hungry after a chaotic day of shopping. I had been looking forward to coming to Brew and Steak Kings for a long while, and I’m am incredibly happy to say it did not disappoint. We ordered three appetizers for the table– calamari, wings, and the bacon wrapped scallops. The calamari was among the best I’ve ever had. Not the slightest bit greasy or rubbery. The wings were crispy and delivered the perfect amount of ‘mild’ heat(the rest of the group didn’t want to try ‘suicide’). The scallops were cooked to absolute perfection. I wasn’t a huge fan of the BBQ sauce it came with, as I thought it distracted from the freshness of the seafood but the rest of the group loved it so to each their own. For dinner, I ordered a 14oz. NY Strip, with garlic butter, Pittsburgh style. I’m usually very hesitant about ordering my steak Pittsburgh/black and blue, as it is not a very forgiving way to cook a steak. Either it’s perfect or it’s not. I’m glad to report that it was perfect. I don’t eat potatoes(I know), and the restaurant accommodated this easily. Instead, I received a double side of sauteed veggies which were delicious. An excellent meal. I can’t report on the dessert as I didn’t partake, but I will say that someone ordered two servings of ‘chocolate sin’, a cake topped with a light peanut butter ganache, and it was a favorite of the table. As for the service itself, I found the waitress to be attentive and lovely. We had a group of thirteen, and everyone was satisfied, something very rare when we get together. There’s always something to complain about. Well, thanks to the entire staff of Brew and Steak Kings, there were no complaints and I got to leave in a MUCH better mood than I went in with. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, not just those in the Wallingford area, to enjoy an incredible meal in a more relaxed setting. The food is comparable to J. Gilbert’s or Ruth Chris, but it doesn’t have the same stuffy atmosphere. Something about it being local, a theme the owners are very proud of, makes it seem more inviting in my opinion, and I’ll be glad to go back soon.

Service was slow, it took about 15 minutes for us to get our drinks, and about an hour for us to get our steaks. I got the New York strip, it was OK but not worth the money. The atmosphere is cold and dark, blue paint with blue lighting. It doesn’t feel warm and welcoming like most steak houses. We won’t be going back, I’d recommend finding another place if you’re in the mood for steaks. You can get better food and service for less money at other local places.
