I ordered takeout order of the Whole Fried Clams Platter. Fried clams were delicious as were the thick cut French fries. The Cole slaw was horrible and went in the garbage. One thing that bothered me while waiting for my takeout order… this is a 1950’s themed diner and the owner should have that Jukebox playing nonstop during busy was so quiet you could hear a pin drop and the diners sitting at tables looked like they were not going to pay .25 cents for 3 songs and I don’t blame them. To the owner: give a little and get a lot !

Great food and greater service! Ive had both seafood and their other menu items. Location is a little iff the beaten path if you don’t live in Wallingford but well worth the trip Ill comment on everything below. The Food — fried fish cant be beat, batter is light and crispy. I’m from down south, so a good fish sandwich is an awesome thing in my world! Burgers are great too, large portions the platters are served with fries and slaw. Slow tatstes homemade. They also make their own soda so many different combinations can be had. Maple Walnut ice cream shake is to die for. And its byob. Service — both dine in and take, very attentive on both sides of the coin and friendly to boot. Location– Not a bad location, I do think if it were downtown it would be a much busier place. Sits in a little strip mall plaza thing in the middle of a residential part of Wallingford, maybe 5 mins from downtown. Like I said, go a little further and you’re in for a treat.

We recently visited Rockin Robs for breakfast. The 5 of us arrived at 9:30 am and we were the only patrons. Service was extremely slow considering we all basically ordered the same thing — 2 eggs over easy with home fries and toast. Honestly it was the worst breakfast I have ever experienced. The eggs were either over hard or raw, home fries were cold and hard and the rye toast was moist and doughy. How can you mess up breakfast especially eggs? When we brought the issue to the waitress she said she would have them remake it but honestly after waiting a ½ hour initially we chose to forgo breakfast, pay and go on with our day. So disappointing since I had heard their lunch/dinner was good so we expected the breakfast to be as well.

I’ve heard great things about this place so I’ve been meaning to try it out. I was in the mood for breakfast and couldn’t wait to try their waffles. This is the first and last time I will ever go there. The service was extremely slow. The food was over priced and barely edible but the worst part was its was filthy. There were wrappers on my seat in the booth, the floor looked like it was never moped, the silverware looked like it was never rinsed off let alone washed and was stuck to the napkins, napkin holder was filthy, tables were wiped off but nothing was moved to clean underneath. It makes me very scared to see what the kitchen looked like.

The place looks really great inside, sort of a 80’s feel. They have a real jukebox with some 80’s rock tunes.

Went in not sure what to expect from the varied reviews from one star to five. I got the 57 Chevy burger platter with a side of onion rings and a chocolate shake. Burger was juicy, slightly pink in the middle. Very good. Fries were good, not as crunchy as I would have liked. The onion rings were great though, they actually cut the onions and make their own as opposed to the frozen soggy rings you get most places. Shake was good, not great. The place was clean, atmosphere was fun. I’d definitely go back and recommend to others. Nice place.

1st experience, last experience. Nothing was seasoned, no napkins, no fork for a to go order. Had to eat coleslaw with my fingers. Brought back memories of when I was an infant, so I guess that was OK, love licking my fingers

Came back to relive the memory on the first day I came in(first date with the Ms.) This place has definitely come around! It was great when they first opened, but it has gotten a lot better. New items on the menu, mostly from what I noticed, they now have chicken quesadillas on there now. I got a Milkshare and a burger. Milkshakes are out of this world as usual, but the burgers were not as greasy as my first few trips. The decorations barely changed, but I believe they did add one or two more neon signs on the wall. They also changed their sign outside from Rocking robs with a classic red guitar to Rockin Rob’s Seafood. Whether you are passing by on the highway(right off of 91), or a Meriden/Wallingford/Haven local you must try Rockin Rob’s at least once in your lifetime.

I know it’s mainly a seafood and burgers place but they have the BEST egg and cheese – especially when I wake up too late to get it at the bakery a few doors over! But every time I come in they’re super friendly and I love the entire rock n roll theme they have going on! Deff will try the lunch/dinner menu soon!

This place is a complete rip off of Dinos in north haven. This seafood isn’t fresh, you can tell that by the price. I would never eat this food and the place is absolutely filthy.

We ate here for lunch and the food was excellent — the best fried seafood that I’ve had in the area and generous portions. Would definitely return.

While passing through Wallingford, we were looking for a quick bite and were dismayed to find that nearly everything was closed or about to close for the night. Lucky for us, we found Rockin’ Robs(thanks to other Unilocalers). The menu is pretty much burgers, sandwiches and some seafood options. The fiancé and I were both looking at seafood options, so I suggested instead of ordering separately we should order«The King Elvis Presley Platter». It says it serves 2 to 3 people… It could have feed a family of 5! It came piled high with calamari, fish filets, clams(we upgraded to whole belly clams for just $ 3 more), scallops and fries. We both ate til we couldn’t eat anymore and we still took some home with us. The service was great and even as the clock approached closing time, some folks showed up and were greeted warmly, invited to sit and to be served.

If you live around Wallingford and are looking for fried seafood or a 50’s style lunch/dinner(burgers & fries) then this is the place! I stumbled across Rockin’ Robs as I was going to the vineyard nearby with my wife. We ordered the fried seafood combo for 2. It has fed us for 3 days now… it really is that big. The waitress was great and explained they pride themselves on never frozen seafood. I have to admit, the seafood was excellent. We got it with fries and onion rings(thin onion rings… which we LOVE) and ordered a side of sweet potato fries. Everything was very fresh and tender. This was the best fried seafood platter we’ve had in a long time. Also, they make their own sodas(like in the 50s) by mixing seltzer and various syrups. The sodas are excellent as are the milkshakes. One reviewer stated they don’t think this place would be around. The 50’s style décor(with working era jukebox) and good food & milkshakes, I definitely think they’ll be around and I hope they are.

When I heard there was a 50’s inspired diner in Wallingford I made it a point to stop by. The décor is beautiful but my first impression was to leave and go next door to get Chinese food… the place was completely empty at lunch time on a Saturday. I ordered an over-priced milkshake and I’m glad I did because that was the only decent part of my meal. The menu was really small, only a few burger choices and some fried seafood. I only eat seafood when it’s in season so I was left with a run of the mill burger. My friend and I also ordered fried mac and cheese wedges(for $ 7?!) and they were terrible. We had to blot off the oil and they were obviously some frozen pre-fab stuff. I didn’t hold out much hope for the burgers. Mine was supposed to be cooked medium-well but what I got was borderline rare. I didn’t put up a fuss because even though we were the only people there it still took quite a while to get our food and I had a movie to catch. I ate what I could of the burger but it was dripping with juice. The bun was soaked red and my little paper lined basket was full of liquid. I lost my appetite after that. We paid our bill and left before I had a chance to really look at the receipt and discovered they actually charged 50 cents to put cheese on the burger. I won’t be going back there, there are other places in town with much better burgers. I honestly don’t see this place surviving another year.
