I had the mixed rice bowl for lunch and it was very good, fresh, and came out fast on my lunch break. I will be back and would recommend to friends.

Healthy, fresh, tasty… well, at least two out of the three! We definitely enjoyed our dinner here a few days ago — it was a perfect quick stop and we appreciated that it was healthier than a lot of the fast food restaurants nearby(although our bowls still had a lot of teriyaki sauce for«healthy» plates!) I recommend ordering the steak as opposed to the chicken — the steak had a lot more flavor. I also recommend getting the bowl with veggies(I liked the cabbage; the carrots and broccoli seemed a little bland but I think that’s because they were steamed). The bowls are reasonably priced and we left full. I’m glad a place like this exists in Wallingford.

SERIOUSLY! This is a hidden gem. Fresh, healthy food that’s delicious, plentiful, and more than reasonably priced! What else do you want!!! Meats not fried, not greasy, delicious teriyaki, and the owner is so nice. Unfortunately, it’s in a location where people could easily miss it on Route 5, so I hope people start discovering it and get the word out, as I intend on being a regular! I had the steak and chicken plate, which came with rice, salad with sesame dressing, and fresh fruit… all for $ 10!!! I can’t say enough about this place. Go now!

Just found this place!!! I’ll give it a 4 cause the food is amazing and a great healthier alternative. The steak bowl is just like you would find at a Japanese gyu don. Very flavorful sauce over sticky rice. Mmmmmm. Delicious. Miso soup is good too. Good choice of sanpellegrino as well. Only problem is the atmosphere. It still feels like a fro yo spot. And although it’s BYOB, I doubt I’d ever come for dinner. It def feels like a lunch spot. And I will be coming here for lunch quite a bit.

My husband is all about healthy eating and eating foods with little to no oil. This place has allowed him to enjoy take out with all the extra greasiness that he hates! It’s very fresh. He loves that he can opt for brown rice instead of white. When I had this place the first time I got chicken and rice bowl. The second time I tried the steak and I would say that the steak is way better as far as taste than the chicken.

The food is cooked to order, the teriyaki sauce tastes amazing. This is one of my weekly«treats» to myself because I don’t ever get that awful feeling after eating at HFT. I usually go for the chicken & steak bowl with brown rice. I found that the bowls with veggies consisted more cabbage than I’d like. If you want just broccoli and not the cabbage, it’ll cost you a dollar extra. Overall a solid place to eat– I’ve brought a lot of coworkers here and they like it too. It’s a shame that there isn’t a rewards system in place for customers(buy x amount of meals, get 1 free, etc.)

The verdict is still out on HFT. I have eaten there a few times. I have been happy with everything I’ve had, but never really blown away. Keep in mind that they claim low calorie, low fat, no oil, and overall healthy. They have nutritional information available but only share it upon request. I thought this was odd since it’s a restaurant that prides itself on healthy eating. I think they would benefit from segmenting their menu out by calorie range. Also keep in mind that each menu item is available with brown rice or wheat wrap alternatives. Overall I would recommend HFT. It’s important to note that the flavor profile of the food will be limited due to the«healthier» angle they take.

HFT is a great find if you enjoy«fast» food that is tasty and healthy. I will admit that I drove by it several times before stopping simply because I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I decided one day to try it for lunch. And, now, I am hooked. The food is made to order and cooked without oil, which are two great bonuses in my opinion. I love the chicken, steak, and veggie bowl. They have brown rice as an option, which I prefer. Overall, a great, reasonably priced spot for some healthy food!

Good food for a fair price. Great steak!!! Need to cut the cabbage into smaller pieces. A little hard to eat.

I may be a bit biased because of my Asian heritage. But actually, this place is the bomb. It actually made me write a Unilocal review. When I first walked in, I noticed how clean and neat the place was. The portion was good and may even rank as the best teriyaki I had in awhile. The chicken teriyaki awesome plate is a must-try and my girlfriend had shrimp bowl and really enjoyed it as well. I am planning on brining my friends back here for lunch.

What an amazing find! I was visiting family and they informed me of a new joint that had opened up down the street and we decided to give it a go since we were in a rush. Service is fast and courteous and the food is even better! Upon entering you are greeted by an open space with a super sleek modern look but it still felt very warm and inviting. There was frozen yogurt on the left hand side which I was tempted to try but I was so hungry I was concentrating on my food order. I had trouble deciding so the cashier was intuitive enough to offer suggestions which I appreciated. So already first impressions off to a good start. Let me first note that the prices are unbeatable! Maybe it’s because I’m from NYC that the prices were such a shock but I felt like it was way below the standard price for food of this quality! Check it out if not for the flavors but for the affordability! I ended up ordering the steak and chicken bowl which was fantastic! The flavors were spot on — fully packed with savory elements and the best part was I felt great afterwards. I was satisfied beyond belief and actually felt healthy and fresh as they advertise themselves to be. It was also tasty so kudos to their motto because they hit all three marks on the head. Next time I visit family again I will be sure to stop by this hidden gem again! I definitely recommend all of you to try!

This is such a fun, little spot! Atmosphere: It’s clean and has ample seating(inside as well as a few tables outside). The music is pop and uplifting and its bright and friendly. This is a place you can visit on your own but seems kid friendly as well. The food: This is like an Asian fusion with Korean twist meets bodacious burritos. Not many people are familiar with Korean food… to put it briefly imagine spicy, savory flavors and grilled meats. The meat is thinly sliced and marinated till it’s insanely tender and flavorful. I am a huge fan but I like spicy food. The menu is simple but has fun items. When they say spicy they mean it. It’s flavorful spicy, though, not just fire in your mouth. The food is freshly prepared and you can tell. It is lite because it’s not cooked with oils. The burritos are HUGE and delightful. I have also had their steak bowl, which was delicious. Hot sauce(sriracha) is available, which I’m a huge fan of though the food is usually spicy enough for me. Vegetarian options are available too. There is also frozen yogurt(8 fun flavors). The staff is friendly. I had the opportunity to talk to the owners and they were very gracious and appreciative of my business. I will be coming back here. I like supporting little mom & pop shops like this one. It’s quick, healthy and the food is darn tasty! One of my new favorite little spots in Wallingford!

Was a little disappointed with my last visit, unfortunately. The same steak+chicken veggie bowl had even more cabbage and seemingly more rice. Also, the salmon veggie bowl had some of the most over-cooked salmon I’ve ever had. Welp, you can’t win them all.

Great food and service here. As soon as I walked in the owner explained to us what was on the menu and even told us what was the popular items. Food tasted fresh. They don’t cook with oil only steam. They take cash and credit cards. As soon as we were done eating the owner gave us a 20% coupon to use on our next visit.

Previous review remains spot on; but I wanted to add there has been an extension to their simple menu which now includes fish, shrimp and mixed bowls.

Not bad, food as advertised good portions. Very simple menu but not a huge variety. Prices were also very reasonable. Cute outdoor seating area even though it’s not in the most picturesque spot. Can’t wait for froyo!

The concept is nice but perhaps the execution could be better. I think it’s terrific a little food joint opened up on Route 5 that’s unlike all the other fast food joints on that road. It’s different. It’s unique. It’s healthy. However both the menu and interior come across a little too sterile for me. There’s not much variety to the menu. They offer three items: teriyaki bowls, salads, and signature plates. That’s all. And there’s no difference between the bowls and signature plates except the signature plates provide a slightly bigger portion size. Regarding its interior, it’s designed just like every other Asian-owned fast food place… modern looking yet plain and austere. It needs a more homey touch. Maybe because there was no one else dining inside and maybe because there was no background music I therefore got a cold feeling from my visit. Background music goes a long way in setting the atmosphere for a place. Food was OK. The teriyaki sauce reminded me more of BBQ sauce than traditional teriyaki sauce, which was fine with me because I like BBQ sauce. In addition to my chicken, I received white rice, salad, and a few orange slices. It was perhaps the most healthy fast food meal I’ve had in a very long time. I say fast food because it probably took no more than 6 minutes to prepare.

I was looking to try HFT after reading the reviews on Unilocal.I knew roughly where it was, so I hopped in the car and headed over. HFT is located in the old D’Angelo’s spot. I spotted the place immediately. It has a very bright and trendy décor. I liked it right away. The pictures show more than I can explain, but it is clean. The menu is limited and on point for what they are trying to do. Basically, it is a teriyaki bowl restaurant. The food was indeed, healthy, fresh and tasty. A much better option than another burger with a kajillion additives in the buns etc,. It was reasonably priced. Service was fast(I was the only one there at 8:53PM), and everyone was courteous. It is the kind of food you can eat frequently and enjoy. I expect I will be back often. As others have noted, there is a TON of competition on the strip, so I hope they do well. I am quite happy with them as a replacement to D’Angelo’s. Not sure of the store hours. I think these are on the door, but not on the menu or website. They may be closed on Mondays(not sure), and close at 9PM during the week.

With so many choices for lunch in Wallingford, going to a place twice within a week for me, is on its own a ringing endorsement. I got the Chicken and Steak bowl with Vegetable, Brown Rice and Avocado the first time which was excellent. The vegetables, brown rice and avocado brought an $ 8 lunch up to a $ 12 lunch. The meats were well cooked and very well seasoned. The vegetables were cooked but still crunchy… which I think is perfect and the rice was hearty and flavorful. Their sauce is delicious and came perfectly proportioned with the rest of the bowl. The side of avocado was a freshly cut half of an avocado and was fresh. My second visit I went for the Chicken Bowl with Brown Rice and Vegetables. For $ 8 I found the second experience to be equal to the first… maybe should have gone for the avocado again because it was the perfect addition! I took everything to go, but the seating areas are bright, clean and inviting, both inside and out. Once the yogurt is flowing, I’ll be interested to see how things change. So far so good… see you next week.
