This was a terrible waste of time. I use the word time because one of our meals was refunded. Now I must confess I am a bit of a BBQ snob. Probably because I grew up in Dallas TX. So I am no bbq newbee. First. Not much bbq on the menu. And I should have known something was up when I walked in the door and did not smell BBQ. Then we ordered two BBQ plates and were informed that out veggies of choice were out of stock. How do you run out of corn on The cob? So choose something else Then when the BBQ players came out the beef was fatty and was served with au jus. Au jus… what happened to BBQ sauce. No bbc sauce at all Then the second platter was pulled pork. It had more flavor. And some BBQ sauce but not enough matter. All in all. Not a good stop for us. Will not be back.

Stopped there on a whim on a Saturday night. It was not overly crowded… maybe two booths in the dining room were filled, one booth in the bar and about 10 people sitting at the bar. We waited at the hostess stand and no one came over so we figured we would just sit in the bar area in a booth. As we are sitting there, I start to realize the only person working in the entire restaurant is the bartender. She is taking care of all the bar patrons as well as the tables in the bar and the dining area. After sitting there for 10 – 15 minutes… with not so much as a glance from the sole employee, we decided to just get up and leave. We left wondering why there was only one person working the entire restaurant. I hope there were at least some people working in the kitchen… but I don’t think we will ever go back to find out.

Fried gator, the country Cuban, and brooklyn IPA. awesome meal all around! I have been meaning to stop here for a while now, and I’m really glad I finally did. Looking forward to hitting this place often after my initial experience.

The food was great. They give you cornbread to start and it was moist and good. I got the southern fried chicken dinner and it was very good, the potatoes were a little unseasoned, the collared greens were good. The service is where it was lacking for me. The waiter just seemed kinda overwhelmed and possibly inexperienced. However, I think I will go back when I need a fried chicken fix, as that was yummm.

Nah. I know usually it takes more than one word for a useful review… and normally I might have gone on and on about re-heated meat, BBQ sauce from a jar, and microwave then deep fried ribs on a Saturday afternoon visit. We had to see if a route five joint actually could get it right! But why bother with a longer review. Too bad, everyone there is so nice! So, it’s just.plain.nah.

Ok, this is suppose to be a BBQ but I’m expecting a southern BBQ joint in the north. They need to add to the menu sweet tea that’s the first step. That would make it that much better if I could enjoy a nice sweet tea with my pulled pork slider with hush puppies. I don’t know what kind of hush puppies they are going for but it’s unlike anything I’ve had(and not in a good way). These hush puppies had peppers in them(green and red). Why? I have no idea. They should have BBQ sauce and ketchup would be nice at every table. The pulled pork sliders were good but it took a while to have the BBQ sauce brought to our table. The BBQ sauce did make them a little better. I’d come back but I’d go try a new place first.

Had wanted to try this place for a couple months and finally stopped in yesterday. Was encouraged by the chalkboard sign out front that referenced fried chicken and catfish since I don’t see too many places up here that attempt southern home cooking. Place was clean and a little quieter than I would have expected for lunch time, but no wait so I wasn’t complaining. Met my buddy at the booth and our waitress came over directly to take my drink order. No problems at all with the service the entire visit. Like other reviews, menu seemed to have a bit of identity crisis. For an advertised BBQ place, it was a little light on those overall options. But the options available seem to be handled well. Was impressed with the options of in house sauce and their own homemade rubs. Buddy got the Brisket sandwich that looked phenomenal. It must have tasted as good as it looked because he housed that bad boy in a matter of minutes. Although I came here looking for BBQ, I just had to take a chance on some of the Southern options on the menu. When I saw Po’ Boy options for sandwiches I was surprised(never see those up here). And when I saw Gator as one of the options, had to take a chance. I’m glad I did. Big solid chunks of perfectly fried gator tail with little to no seasonings. It was topped off with a little multi-cheese melt and had a few roasted tomatoes on the bottom. The combo was pulled off well and was a good mix of flavors. It was also served on a big roll that was soft and facilitated easy devouring of this large proportioned offering. The sandwich was excellent. My only suggestion would be to drop the cheese and tomatoes and transition to a French type roll and top with some Rémolaude sauce for authenticity. Have to say the fries were epic as well. Not usually a fan of wedges, but these were cooked to perfection. Crisp outside with that true French fry consistency inside. Portions were extremely generous for the price($ 9 for my Po’ Boy and $ 11 for the Brisket), service was great and food arrived in quick and delicious fashion.

Found it when another Restaurant was closed because it was a Monday. Nice rustic ambience and greeted by a friendly face. Bar had a few customers and the restaurant did too. Friendly staff and clean. Ordered the Ribs and fries that came with a salad $ 18 great price for what you get and a Mac and cheese with pulled pork on top.:-[$ 13 overpriced for what you get. My husbands salad came first and it was more than I would expect from here and this type of restaurant. My husband thought the ribs were good and there were plenty of them. Fries were cooked to perfection. I tried two ribs I thought the ribs were lacking in some flavor and perhaps needed a rub or some spices before cooking. My mac and cheese was lame. Small lunch size plate… the taste was good but we both agreed it needed some crisp texture to it { cracker mixed in maybe two types of cheeses for depth} Something… i. had two small spoonfuls of pulled pork on top and one had a large piece of fat attatched. it came with nothing else but suggest some slaw on the side for flavor change. We combined the two and Took home for kids. May go back to try thr pulled brisket and wings but if the ribs are any indication… it will be sometime.

I visited this restaurant on a Friday afternoon with my wife and my parents. We were all very satisfied with pur food. The service was good. I loved the mac and cheese. Homemade for sure! The brisket sandwich was also good(according to my wife). I had two minor quirks. My wife ordered a blue moon, but they had no orange wedges. Also, the décor doesnt scream bbq. Overall i was satisfied and will definitly be returning!!! I gotta try the ribs, they looked good!

The food we had was decent. The two biggest problems I had with this place were the service and the menu. The waitresses here work on an alternating table system rather than using sections so although you may see three or four servers walking by your table you arent seeing yours to be able to place an order or get a drink. Also the menu here is not what you would expect by the name. The place has spurs, a cowboy boot and cowboy hat in their logo but only have brisket ribs and pulled pork as far as anything with a BBQ or southern flair. No fried chicken or southern sides at all so the name is quite confusing. I might give it another try but definitely unsure.
