My 5 year old daughter enjoyed Camp Galileo(Walnut Creek). I heard good feedback from other parents. The pricing is on higher side if you don’t attend more than one week compares to other camps; however, the camp leaders and directors are very energetic and passionate to make science & art both fun and educational. On Fridays, the children bring home their projects and art work. Optional lunch(partnered with Lunch Choice. All nut free!) was available for advanced purchase for entire week. It’s pricey $ 36 for whole week, but lunches/snacks were healthier than typical school lunches and customizable. My daughter is picky eater, but she enjoyed all the lunches.

This camp is purportedly all about helping your kids become innovators. My kids have never experienced anything like it, and it is in a class of it’s own. Best. Camp. Ever. Not only did my kids come home chanting, cheering, and talking about everything they did during the day, but they learned real life innovation skills. They learned how to collaborate with others, how to approach failure and use it as a tool to succeed, how to prototype a unique design and test it, improve it, and ultimately share it with their peers. When they got home each day, they rummaged through the recycle bin, fired up the hot glue gun, and went to work inventing all kinds of stuff. Even though they were exhausted from a day full of fulfilling and stimulating fun, they couldn’t shut their minds off — in a good way. Galileo is FUNFUNFUN. The staff is fabulous and knows how to work with kids to bring out their best. Galileo is not inexpensive at face value compared to other camps. But it’s not your park and rec, drop off whenever you want kids do whatever they want kind of camp. It’s highly organized, professional, serious learning with serious fun. We’re loyal fans and will always be!

Camp Galileo and Jeff, the camp director at Walnut Creek, really went beyond and above, and totally impressed our family – not only for wearing his chicken hat and banana costume in almost 100 degree heat but most importantly in the genuine enthusiasm he showed and inspired my kids in learning science. I enrolled two daughters this year at Galileo. One is on the autism spectrum(Asperger’s). Galileo’s very qualified and we’ll trained staff made her feel included, welcomed and excited about science and arts. I couldn’t have asked for more. P. s. We tried out another well established arts and science camp in the area this summer for a few weeks, and Galileo is, beyond comparison, better. We wished we had just gone to galileo the entire summer.
