Julie is very experienced and wonderful! She gave me exactly what I wanted and will definitely be going back to see her regularly. She is right in my neighborhood.

I’m new to California and was looking for a hair stylist who could perm, cut and style my fine, thin, hair as well as my long-​time stylist whom I left behind in another state. I was really nervous because I know my hair is difficult and it takes a really good haircut to make it look good.
Julie and I talked before I made the appointment and I showed her photos of how I wanted my hair to look. She assured me that she had done many perms, has lots of experience with hair like mine, and could give me a good haircut. She also said that she has her hair permed, which eased my anxiety a bit. So I nervously booked an appointment.
PROS:
Julie’s a really nice person and fun to talk to. Her salon is really cute and convenient with free parking. The price for a perm and cut was reasonable.
CONS:
I’ve had enough perms over the years to know how hair should be rolled and processed. Julie didn’t roll rods tight to my scalp but rather pulled the root to the side so the curl started about ¼ inch from the root and didn’t have the lift at the roots that I was expecting. The processing time was really short compared to other perms I have had over the last couple years from my long-​time stylist back East and the newly permed length became really limp and flat after a couple weeks, contrasting with the older permed ends from almost a year ago which are still really curly and bouncy. So now, 3 months later, my hair is pretty straight for about the first 3.5 inches from the root, then it’s pretty curly to the ends. It looks really weird.
The haircut did nothing for my hair. It is slightly layered around the crown, but almost all one length in the back, so with the weight in the back and the limp new perm, my hair is really flat on the back of my head.
Another thing I didn’t like was she couldn’t find her rattail comb (she only has one?) and her towels were all raggedy and stained with hair dye, although she assured me they were clean. Solution: Buy black towels that don’t show the dye stains and replace them when they get old and frayed.
CONCLUSION:
I’ve lived with my hair long enough to know that it takes a REALLY good stylist to deal with my hair. In Julie’s defense I will say that in the past it taken a few disappointments to find the right stylist. But once I find the right one, I will stick with them for many years. So my search continues for a new stylist in or near Walnut Creek.

Julie has been my stylist for almost a decade now and I would never go anywhere else because she does a remarkable job with color. I’ve had dark brown, light brown, auburn, red, blonde and platinum blonde and every time my hair looks fabulous! Thank you Julie for the wonderful job you do! xo

I’ve been going to Julie for over 20 years because she listens to what you want but will also make suggestions if you don’t know what you want! She does a great job with both color and cutting. She has recently given me helpful tips on how to handle my hair since I switched to a more curly style.
Her salon is very cute in a handy location right off 680 in Walnut Creek.

After having Julie cut, highlight my hair and then travel with me to my wedding location for an on site wedding day styling, let me just tell you that no one else will ever touch my hair.
My hair is curly and fine, and inexperienced stylists burn it or break it pretty easily. Not Julie! She knew all about it and gave me a bunch of tips on caring for it that I haven’t ever heard before… and all of them are working!
Her salon is beautifully decorated and very pleasant to be in. Julie is fast and brilliant and everything having to do with hair.
And the style! When my daughters are ready for prom, Julie is the one they will see. Her fancy up-​do was a standout at my wedding, and the little subtle touches she added made for an epic hairstyle that so many of my guests complimented me on.
Julie is amazing. I can’t say enough. Go to her and you will never use another stylist again.

Julie fit me in at a time that works well for me (late afternoon, mid week) and walked me through possibilities until I found one I really wanted and I am not used to going to a salon (I would cut my own hair… I know, don’t go there). I chose two overlapping colors close to my natural color and cut about 6 inches off. I really enjoyed her professional expertise, gentle nature and generous ear. When I am nervous, I chatter along. I loved the color and cut. and it’s now 2 months later and I am ready for even shorter! Price was right and atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxing. Thanks, Julie!

She took her time and made my visit enjoyable. My color looks great and the style was just what I wanted.
There is a lot of parking and a great selection of refreshments. Her semi-​private suite was quiet and upstairs away from the main salon.
