Melissa – Studio 12

I am a massage therapist who recently acquired an esthetician license, and suddenly I need to care about my looks! I could no longer rock the no-​fuss, comfy millenial hippie look, I had to actually do something girly with myself :-/​. Melissa came into my spa on a Groupon and had such an effortlessly chic put-​together but not prissy fake look that I knew I needed her help. At my first appointment, she ragged on me a bit for my complete idiocy when it came to blowdryers and round brushes and then gave me the most gorgeous cut and subtle warm highlights. Knowing I was a beauty-​phobe, she kept it simple and I get (surprised!) compliments on my hair whenever I take the time to show it a curling iron. Thank you Melissa!!! You helped me make the jump from frumpy to… well…lets say more polished and prettier than I thought I could look without a team of experts :-)

Love Melissa! She’s been doing my hair for about a year. Found her through a Living Social deal or something, but have stayed with her ever since. Her shop is great. It’s just her. So no having to listen to other beauty salon drama. There is a lot of parking, though it can get packed. The shop is easy to access as it is in downtown WC. Also, I’ve never had a problem getting an appointment. Prices are reasonable, of course, all I ever get is a haircut. She’s turned me on to some great hair products too.

Melissa has been working with my hair for FIVE years now. My hair will follow her everywhere! {{Note, I am typing this review, but my hair is dictating all the content}} Melissa has worked with my hair’s many phases, the time I wanted to grow it out, the time I was in to short styles and she has always been there to offer my hair suggestions when it was indecisive.
Obviously this review is from the hair on my head, so if you are a guy looking for someone who understands that even men’s hair can make demands, Melissa is the one for you. She has this way to working with your hair’s ego, not too flattering, not too demanding, not too coy, just the right touch of sweetness yet firm direction.

I made a appointment with Melissa after I received a Trubates deal as a gift from a friend. I didn’t realize the Studio housed more than one stylist business, it was actually very smart the way it was partioned. I finally came around and found Melissa she was with someone, there was little cushioned seats in front of her area so I waited as she was with another client. She seemed very nice and had a lot in common with the person she was styling. I hoped that her and I would have things to talk about it.
When I was up I showed her my voucher and explained what I wanted, a trim, side swoop bangs as well as layers. She had a very welcoming smile that just made you comfortable and was very easy to talk to and we did end up having things in common which was nice. She also offered to lighten the load on my hair by thinning it out because my hair is super thick. I trusted her, she was great! I would definitely go back to her!

I paid a visit to Melissa because I had received a really good deal on Trubates. I entered the salon, and walked around to the different rooms where other stylists were working on their clients. As I approached Melissa’s room, I thought to myself what a fun and cozy room to be pampered in! Her smile and warm welcome confirmed my first instinct of the salon. She introduced herself to me and invited me to sit in the chair. She asked me what I was looking for and when I showed her a couple of pictures of what I wanted she got right to work…
We had really fun conversations and she was really nice to chat with. She was professional and had a REALLY good attitude. When her work was done and I looked at my hair I was blown away!!! She did EXACTLY what I asked and I appreciated that more than anything because sometimes I’ve had less than satisfying experiences at other salons.
I have recommended her to a friend of mine that wants to go and get her hair done too!
I cannot thank her enough for making my experience such a positive and fun one, although I don’t live close enough to her I will do my best to go back to her in the near future. Thank you SO much Melissa!
