Dr. Young is hands down the most talented, considerate, kind, healer I have ever had the pleasure of having as a physician of any kind. Last august I had a seemingly easy surgical procedure that went awry, these things happen. But Dr. Steven young was the general surgeon called in to repair the damage of having my bowels actually nicked, and he literally saved my life. It was quite an ordeal, with infections, abscesses, pancreatic issues, and finally, a large and painful incisional hernia that couldn’t be operated on for four months after the infection ended.
Saying that I was scared going into the hernia repair surgery was an understatement. But Dr. Young is so confident, kind, and non stressed I knew I was in great hands. Because of all my previous abdominal surgeries and the emergency one I had last August, Dr. Young originally recommended I consult with a plastic surgeon about doing what’s called «components separation» in addition to a mesh to hold in the hernia. I had that consultation, but I decided that I wanted Dr. young to do that specialized surgery himself. At first he was humble and reluctant, but he agreed to do that procedure if it was indicated when he opened me up on March 25, my surgical date two weeks ago.
I marvel each day at how beautiful and sculpted my abs look now. I have a six pack, it’s really work of art, what he has done for me. And I know that’s just the icing on the cake, the internal mesh and hernia fix as well as the reconstruction of 4 to 5 layers of my muscle was a difficult task, but Dr Young did a great job.
I used to think I should only find arrogant, conceited, and cocky surgeons, because I heard if you had a surgeon with a good bedside manner and a kind demeanor, he wouldn’t be as good. That is completely untrue.
Dr Young also runs the John muir wound care clinic, he plays in his Church band, he is a dedicated father to his children and a loyal husband, he represents the best qualities out there. He is supremely confident, but never arrogant. He is patient, and explains things well. He even very subtly told me that losing weight would really help the abdominal hernia repair surgery, and I did, I lost 45 pounds in five months. :) Doctor’s orders were a huge motivator, and especially Dr. Young’s orders!
There was no way I could have gotten through all this over the last eight months without the superior surgical skill as well as the knowledge and experience that Dr. Steven Young has. I wish I could give him ten stars here
