This community gym is more like an athletic center. It is a good facility for volleyball and basketball and even aerobics. It is a large gym with enough capacity for four fully volleyball courts and extra room for spectators. The lobby area is nice with a large viewing window of the courts and gym.

The Tice Valley Community Gym looks new and modern. I went there for my little cousin’s bball game over the weekend. The facility is quite spacious. The lobby area has chairs and tables set up. The main gym has three bball courts that are sectioned off and are enclosed with floor to ceiling glass walls. There are several other smaller studios that are used for zumba and jazzercise classes. The premises are clean and well kept. Women’s restroom/locker room was decent. Vending machines and water fountains line the hallway. Parking is plenty as well.

One of the finer community centers in the Bay Area, the gym is especially well thought out. It’s drop-down panels allow the monstrous gymnasium to be divided into 3 courts. A typical window may have volleyball, basketball or even badminton in full swing. Bleacher and chair sitting options for the different areas of the court. We stop in at least once a week different times of day, so have the chance to see what it’s like under different conditions. Highly recommend the kid’s athletics offered through the community center. Glad to see they have a lot of sports options from toddlers through seniors. Sports drinks and snacks are available via vending machines. Bathrooms are locker room style without the showers(it’s a general community center not a health club or swim center). Dance studio, special rooms for other classes. Extensive sitting lounge in the center lobby. The training center for many of the area youth sports as well! Outdoor grounds and playground make it a popular stop for all ages. So yes, Good for Kids… of all ages.

I’ve been playing in the Sunday night league here for about a year now. Overall, the gym is fairly clean. They also have a lot of leagues and activities going on here which is great. The people who work here are nice and friendly. I have a few complaints though. First, the floors are generally slippery. Playing basketball on slippery floors is generally not a good combination. I wish they would sweep the floors a little more often. Second, the courts are high school sized courts and not the larger NBA/college courts. Third, the scoreboards have a lot of broken lights, which makes it hard to tell what the score it at times. If they could just do/fix some of these small things(outside of making the court bigger), this place would be a lot better.

I came here to play badminton in the morning since I work in Walnut Creek now. The gym is really clean and the staff is super nice. They have ample parking and it looks fairly new. Badminton schedule is from 10 to 12am on Mondays and Fridays. People there seem pretty nice as well. The fee to get in was also not that high. I think I paid $ 3. The only bad thing is that they don’t have a shower. I had to run to the 24 hour fitness in Concord to shower and then go to work. This made me a little late for work. However, the guy at the front desk said that having no shower is what keeps the costs down. But having to go to another gym to take a shower is just odd and a bit inconvenient. Which is why I gave it 3 stars. Other than that. I like the gym and I will go there again. I just have to make sure I make ample time to run out of there, to another gym to shower and get ready…
