My boyfriend and I decided to stop by Cravings Bakery after having lunch at the Waba Grill right by it. When we walked in the place was empty, and the place looked bare. However, they had slices of red velvet cake… and who can pass up red velvet cake? I asked for a slice along with a snickerdoodle cookie. When I handed the girl, working behind the counter, my debit card, she told me that there was a minimum purchase of $ 10 for credit card transactions. Okay, that’s understandable, and a common practice at many businesses. So I decided to purchase ANOTHER slice of red velvet cake, 2MORE snickerdoodle cookies, and a slice of Oreo cheesecake. She told me that would be $ 10.50. Excited to go home and devour my goodies, I handed her my card. She swiped it, and told me it was declined. Stupidly, I told her to swipe it again because I KNEW I had enough money in my bank account that it was ridiculous I was being denied a $ 10 purchase! She swiped. Said it was decline again. My boyfriend left his wallet at my house, so… embarrassed and cashless, we walked away. On the way home, I was checking my bank account on my phone trying to figure what went wrong. And surprise, surprise! I had TWO charges of $ 10.50 pending already! WTH?! We turned back around, I calmly showed the girl charges on my account and she gave me a cash refund of $ 21. However, my pride and ego were so wounded that I refused to buy anything after getting my money back. Lol. Clearly, Cravings Bakery needs to properly train their employees on how to used the register and credit/debit machines.

Cravings Bakery is on the side of the plaza and does not face Valley. I would have never noticed it had I not overshot Mayan Tacos and turned in here. Note to self: Must try random bakery. It’s 6:30pm at night, why is a bakery in the business district still open? Who knows, but I have dinner. I pick out a turkey and swiss sandwich on wheat from the fridge. Since it’s so late, they’re not making them fresh anymore. The sandwich was still quite tasty. The bread was sliced thick and still soft. The turkey wasn’t the processed kind but actually real pepper crusted turkey breast. Add swiss cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickle, onion and you’ve got quite a sandwich. At $ 4.50, it’s quite a steal. Now, I’ll actually have to try it when it’s made fresh. They also have a selection of pastries, coffees, smoothies, and such. If I’m craving a sandwich, I’ll have to go to Cravings Bakery for another go.
