I agree with the most recent reviews. This super eight is one of the nicest and cleanest I have seen. It is obvious that it was newly remodeled and done very nicely. I would recommend this hotel.

Newly renovated and an outstanding value. I can honestly say this was the nicest Super 8 I’ve stayed at. Most of the rooms have been remodeled, there’s a nice pool and plenty of parking. The room here was very modern with plenty of amenities, including a fridge and microwave. The king size bed was super comfortable and included a down comforter underneath the top blanket! Very cozy after a long day on the road. The wifi signal(no extra charge) was excellent as well. The woman at the front desk was so polite and helpful. She even came out to give me detailed information on where to park and how to get to my room. The check in and out process was quick and easy. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful with plenty to choose from, even after 9, when it was served from 6 – 10. Make your own waffles, breakfast, juice, fruit and much more. The only minor thing to note is that the indoor pool was chilly, but I know it costs a lot to heat a pool, so I can’t complain too much. I absolutely recommend this Super 8 for a pleasant and affordable stay.

Great hotel, just finishing up a remodel right now. Most of the rooms are updated. Friendly staff and plenty of parking. If you have a newer wifi device that supports 802.11ac, use Super 8 Walnut 5 for higher speeds. Love the new renovations, the new beds are awesome and there are power outlets right beside the bed on the lamps.

We are taking a cross country car trip and as such have stayed in many motels. I read some of the poor reviews of this Super 8 Motel in Walnut, Iowa and ALMOST kept going. Having decided to risk it I was extremely pleasantly surprised at this motel! Reasonably priced, with a huge room with all the amenities. A nice indoor pool and a free hot breakfast. BTW the best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had! Staff was over and above the call of duty. Curious about prior comments he told me he bought the place 3 years ago and is halfway thru a remodel! Well there it is there! All things are worthy of redemption!(Even Pete Rose.)

Horrible! To start called and made reservation though a call center where I could not understand the woman’s broken English. Arrived, no reservation in the system, lady at counter said if I did make one on the phone and she charged me I would be double charged. So, back on the phone to what country!!! Who knows, was on hold for awhile before a man answers in broken English, confirms no reservation. Ok, so confirmed I’m not going to be double charged. Get a room. Toilet backs up going #1. Sink backs up washing hands. When trying to change my phone all outlets except bathroom spark and charger falls out of wall! Very scary. Beds hard and old. Smells old, entire place. Would not recommend!!!

We booked this place as a stop over after an 8-hour drive. The 1 star is for the clerk, who was friendly. We were traveling with our dog, and I was initially pleased that pets were no extra charge. Oh, but there is a catch. There are designated pet rooms. We opened the door and it smelled like a kennel! On closer inspection, it appeared that where the vacuum bumps up against the baseboard is never cleaned. We opened the windows and turned on the fan to help with the smell. After leaving for an hour and a half, there was no change in smell. The shower screamed when it was used(my daughter asked if something was broken). There was mildew underneath the shower knobs, and the TV was really old and difficult to see, as the screen was dark. We had to ask for that 4th towel set, even though you fill out how many people are staying in the room when making an online reservation. Skip this place unless you get a rate of less than $ 40…then it would be worth it.

In the midst of a cross-country road trip, we found ourselves without a place to stay for the night as we approached Omaha from the west. The College World Series was in town, and the hotels in Omaha were either booked or triple their average nightly rate. Enter the Super 8 in Walnut, an hour east of Omaha, with an inexpensive rate and a few unbooked rooms. They also score some major bonus points for being located right off of I-80. We booked the room at around 8pm, and we were lucky that we did, since the place would end up fully booked by 10pm(I heard the front desk clerk tell a few people on the phone that there was only one room left, but it was a smoking room). Speaking of the front desk, Deb(who checked us in) was incredibly friendly and helpful. When you’re weary from a 600-mile day of driving, it’s nice to be greeted with a smile and genuine warmth. Once we were checked in, we went to our room, which was surprisingly big. The bathroom was nice, with a separate sink area just outside of it. Another nice perk: a laundry room adjacent to our room. Everything was very clean, though the bedspreads and carpeting were dated. On the whole, the place seems like it could use a remodel, which is the only reason I gave it 4 out of 5. The other negative is that the breakfast spread wasn’t very good — small and not a lot of variety. Despite the drawbacks, this is an excellent hotel for the money. It’s an especially solid choice for road trippers or those visiting Omaha during a particularly busy time.

Driving a U-HAUL truck with dolly from Pittsburgh, PA to California’s Bay Area in the middle of summer, we got to stay in a variety of places along the way. Super 8 Walnut, IA was by far the most pleasant experience we had. Friendly service, clean and reasonably priced rooms, family-friendly style, nice pool, and even home-cooked food. Did not find any of this anywhere else along our route. Can definitely recommend this place.

We were VERYDISAPPOINTED in this Super 8 Motel! I can’t imagine we will be back unless some real changes are made here! We travel from NE to MN and back very often as we have family in both locations, and are always looking for a great hotel to be our regular near Des Moines. This is not the one for us! On the plus side, the staff was very friendly. However, this was not enough to overcome the problems here. First, we called ahead to see if they had a room available, and asked about the pool. Yes, they told us, we have a room and a working pool. After we checked in, we headed to the pool, and found that the room was like a sauna! I came with an infant, and this was not appropriate for an infant. I wish I would have been told ahead of time there was a problem with the pool, so we could have made a better choice of where to stay. Next, we looked in the folder provided from the hotel on area sites, restarants, etc, and under the food section, there was one entry under delivery: pizza. So, we ordered a pizza to be delivered. After about 30 minutes, we got a call, they would not be able to deliver the pizza to our hotel, they only delivered to another Super 8 in the next city over. Why the hell was this pizza place listed under delivery in this motel’s provided local information folder if they don’t deliver here? Annoying! Next, we were in bed, and the lights kept flickering. Clearly an elctrical problem. And, last but not least, we found numerous bugs in our room! Crickets, beatles, and a rolly-polly. Unacceptable! Don’t imagine we will be back here!
