This is a great addition to Moody Street. Great choice of draft beer, creative fancy drinks, innovative salads and very tasty pizza. The atmosphere is good, waitstaff professional and the décor attractive. The only thing I’d change is the numerous TV’s at the bar which are large and quite close to you. Half the TV’s had ads for the Valentine’s dinner special at the Bistro, so why not take half the TV’s down to give a visual break? My wife and I sat at the high tables instead of the bar partly to avoid the overpowering TV screens. Otherwise a winner restaurant– even has their own parking lot.

Would have been a 4 star review, but our waitress Cat brought it to a five. Extremely attentive, made us feel at home, service was top notch. My friend felt beautiful for the first time. Nachos were the size of my thigh. My thigh could crush you. My friend had stuffed mushroom casserole, it was yummy. Other friend had a burger. Couldn’t fit it in her mouth — she just had a baby so it’s been a while. In general, delightful food, solid ambience, and our waitress was the most excellent. We have to pee.

I’ve been here twice. I went first for brunch which I loved. Great drinks and great food. The breakfast burrito is amazing. I would eat two of those in a sitting. The pancakes were also good and they have this whipped vanilla butter that’s amazing. I would drink that. It’s one of the few brunch places on Moody Street but we were able to get a table quickly on a Sunday morning. We went back for dinner and I thought it wasn’t as good as brunch, but still good. The service was great. My husband actually loved the hot wings. The margherita pizza was just okay. And the southern fried chicken sandwich was a 4⁄5. Overall, very good. We’ll definitely be back and so grateful that they’ve recently opened. I hope they stay around for a long long time.

Tonight the noise level was high because of the Pats/Chiefs game, but other than that, the food was not bad. The portions were large. The service was above average. My friend had the shrimp and beef kebab and pronounced it delicious. My mother had the chicken Marsala. She liked the chicken but not the pasta. I had the southern chicken sandwich. It was ok. Next time, on a cold-ish day, we will ask to be seated closer to the back than to the front. Whenever the door opened a blast of cold would hit us. That encouraged us to finish quickly and leave. No worries, we were stuffed by the time we left. It is certainly worth returning to.

I loved the Sunday brunch.(thank you Lindsay M. For recommending it). My wife and I each had a breakfast pizza. Mine was delicious. First, mine was gluten free, which I need. And the eggs, avocado and cheese are in the right proportion. What I want to mention is that the gluten-free dough was tasty, which is rare. When the plate comes out, you won’t how you can possibly eat it all. But, you do. My wife had the normal crust, which she said was perfectly done.

3 stars for the drink selection, but 1 star for the food is why I rated this 2 stars. Diverse selection of quality drinks from New Zealand Sauvignon blanc, to rittenhouse rye, to Maine beer on tap. However, the food was uninspiring and inedible. The cheese and charcuterie plate had tiny portions and uninspiring varieties of meats and cheeses. My entrée was a scallops special on the menu and it was so heavily salted that it was inedible and I had to send it back. Even when I asked them to replace it with just three broiled scallops, the scallops were so salty that you tell this restaurant is buying cheap seafood that has been pumped full of saline solution — they definitely weren’t dry scallops. What they’re buying are called wet scallops — that are soaked in a sodium tripolyphosphate solution to let them last longer and maintain their moisture longer. And the hash that accompanied the scallops was also salted so heavily that it was inedible. I may go back for drinks, but I’ll never order food there again.

I play hard to get… And by that I mean it’s hard to get five stars from me. This new hot spot has it all including delicious food, a trendy atmosphere, and wonderful service. We chose Bistro 781 for our Girl’s Brunch today and certainly were not disappointed. Can we talk about the«Build Your Own Bloody Mary» menu? I don’t even drink Bloody Mary’s, but this concept is pretty impressive. Each place setting is supplied with a small pencil and a pad of paper for choosing and circling add-ons for your drink. My friends indulged in Bloody Marys including stuffed olives, pepperoni pizza crostini, and even strips of bacon. «It’s like a little snack before the meal» one of my friends said in reference to the garnishes atop her drink. I opted for my brunch favorite, the mimosa, which was very light on the orange juice with the perfect pour of champagne. The brunch menu has a lot of flexibility consisting of build-your-own omelets and eggs reflecting your style by choosing from a list of sides. There are a variety of breakfast sandwiches, flatbreads, and the amazing Eggs Benedict. This was my choice today and it was delish! This meal has the option to «go Irish» with added corn beef hash. Home fries, perfectly cooked home fries I must add, are served on the side. My friends enjoyed the Smoked Salmon sandwiches and the Morning Staple sandwich –everyone was commenting on how good their food was. This restaurant serves dinner as well. Our server, Marissa, was very friendly and attentive. We interacted with other servers as well who had assisted with bringing our meals to the table. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. Looks like we have a new hangout spot to add to our list of faves.

Great location, great atmosphere, really good food and drinks… Reasonably priced. The wait staff were here and miss… So mostly a good experience but close to knocking off a half of point.

I have to say, it took me longer than expected to finally make it in here to try their menu, but I am SO glad I did; it left me far from disappointed! On my first visit, I came with a friend for a few drinks. The bartenders and front staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and also made an AMAZING choco-espresso-mint martini that has become a favorite when I come here. On my second visit, I opted for the BBQ pulled pork flatbread. This was absolutely delicious. The pork was tender and held its own flavor up against the BBQ sauce. The sauce was a flavorful combination of sweet and smokey, which delicately glazed the flatbread without drenching it and making it soggy. On my third visit(and this is where it gets REALLY good) I ordered the chicken waffles with jalapeño maple syrup and the steak bomb egg rolls. The chicken waffles NEED to be added as a staple item to the menu. These waffles were infused with so much flavor, it had my tastebuds dancing. From the crispy exterior of the waffle, to its fluffy, chicken-filled inside, doused in a sweet and spicy jalapeño syrup, it was perfect from start to finish(not that it lasted long on my plate, haha). The syrup offered a sweet zing with pleasantly spicy kick at the end. The steak bomb egg rolls were also delicious, and not greasy like a lot of egg rolls can be. I rarely order different menu items from the same place because I can be a bit of a bore and like what I like, but I can honestly say, the menu here has yet to disappoint me. I can’t wait to try something new next time!

I had to come in with an updated review for their Sunday brunch. The only negative I can say is that their brunch is only on Sunday’s…Please Bistro 781 make it on Saturday as well?! A few weeks ago I noticed a sign in front of Bistro 781 that said they had brunch on Sunday’s from 10:30am-2:30pm. I kept reminding myself that I needed to try it and last weekend we finally did. if you go down Moody St. there is only one breakfast place: In a Pickle. There are absolutely no alternatives(Technically there is Dunkin Donuts but it is not the same!) unless you go down Main St in Waltham. You can only imagine how happy I was to discover that Bistro 781 was now doing Brunch on Sundays! I am not a big fan of Bloody Mary’s but their«build your own Bloody Mary» order sheet was out of control. More than 70% of the people eating Sunday brunch had them, so they had to be good. In terms of brunch food they had a large variety of options to choose from. Anything from omelets, eggs benedict, pancakes, sandwiches and salads. Their hot coffee was very good and the servers were quick to give many refills. For food, our group got the following: Bacon omelet, Eggs Benedict and«The Morning Staple»(English muffin, eggs and bacon). All bacon is made in house and is incredibly awesome also all breakfast items came with Home Fries(or hash browns). All of the food was excellent, hot, fresh and priced just right! I think none of us talked for a good 10 minutes while devouring our food. I was very impressed with the meals and the experience we had for brunch. The only negative thing I can say is that they do not have wheat toast; only rye, white or English muffins. it’s not like I am going low calorie with my brunch, but I do like my whole wheat toast. If you are looking for a Sunday brunch alternative with great food and prices, stop in and try them out. I was a little hesitant to write this up as I have a feeling that this is going to be the place to get brunch and start watching the early Sunday NFL games!

Sunday Brunch was fabulous! We loved the make your own Bloody Mary bar– great options and quality ingredients. I had the eggs Benedict which were delicious. My boyfriend got two sunny side eggs with home fries and bacon– really good as well! Staff was super nice, attentive and friendly! We will def be back for sunday fun day!

The food is absolutely outstanding! Look for the specials. We had stuffed littleneck clams — a smaller tastier version of stuffed quahogs. We then split the salmon cabanera for dinner — so delicious and perfectly cooked! I’d highly recommend.

This place adorably tries too hard to be trendy, but so much so that it’s kind of funny and cute. It’s trying to be a chic gastro pub, and for the most part gets close so I won’t fault them too much. This is Waltham, after all ;) The bar is a little too sterile for my liking and I’d prefer they ditch the TVs, but the atmosphere is not uncomfortable at all and the staff were quite friendly and on point. The menu is *ALL* over the place. Chaotic, clashing, somewhat silly, mostly delightful. Everything we had was very tasty but it did lack light/reasonably priced options that appealed to me. If I were to guess, the head chef just likes to play around a lot and as a result we end up with this menu. Overall I’m happy this space joined the Moody St. scene and I look forward to seeing how it settles in.

I’m torn about Bistro781. I got a burger both times — both because I’m a burger junky and because the rest of the menu feels chaotic… I guess that is a «me thing» though. It’s a really good burger! And it better be for about $ 17 with charges for bacon(obviously), cheese(really?), and subbing a bun for an English muffin(come ON!). They also had a pretty expansive beer list, including one of my absolute favorites from IPA heaven(San Diego), the Grapefruit Sculpin. Cross-country shipping costs are passed on to customers, or at least it seems that way when you pay $ 10 for standard sized draught. This may sound overly negative, since the food/drink, service and atmosphere really are quite nice. But something just doesn’t work for me. I’m not one to get too bent out of shape about prices, but I was stunned by our bill both times I’ve been. My wife is a vegetarian and loves the place. Lots of good options for her. It has become one of her first suggestions when thinking about where to go out in the neighborhood. So I will certainly be back. And I’ll enjoy myself. And then I’ll get the bill and scratch my head a little.

The space is decorated well(modern, but not overwhelming). It is DARK at night, so as long as you are into that, its cool. Biggest bar I have ever seen, at least I think so. Very nice staff, no complaints there. I think part of the issue is they are a new restaurant and are not sure of how to market themselves. Their menu had sushi, burgers, and bananas foster so it was hard to tell what their«expertise» was. All of the food we had was«meh»(Spinach & Parsnip salad, Quinoa burger, Korean Short Ribs, and [sigh] the bananas). I would say I was pleased to see a few of my favorite beer selections there, but there was also the«college kid» choices too. I think this place could be good. They should focus their menu a little and really make some signature dishes, and the crowds will come. Its in a good spot for that kind of thing. Go for: After-work drinks Try: Something other than what I had? Avoid: … using this as your dinner spot… until the menu changes!

I had the pleasure of going to this establishment last night. The staff was beyond friendly and catered to us the whole time. Bistro 781 has a very sophisticated atmosphere, perfect for date nights and afterwork unwinding. We ordered both type of wings along with two different spring rolls, everything was perfect. I look forward to coming back and testing more of their menu. Sidenote: this place has charger outlets under the whole entire bar so you can charge you phone ! Such a modern touch.
