Old School Neighborhood Breakfast/Lunch place. Cash Only. Informal friendly place, full of regulars that are addressed by name(its the«Cheers» of Waltham). I am not sure how many years they have been in business; but I remember visiting friends who lived in the ‘hood back in the ’90’s and going to breakfast here. «Awesome Waltham Waffles»(say that fast 5 times) was our mantra that weekend. 2 Decades later, I now live here; and on a recent visit, service and food are still decent. A basic breakfast served quick for under $ 6. You don’t find that everyday. I will be back.

It was solid. The home fries were a bit on the flavorless side and the omelet was nearly as thin as a crêpe, but for the price, you can’t go wrong.

Heidi’s is that local diner that opens doors at the crack of dawn during the week, and is open late night on the weekends. The service is standard, but when I say standard, I mean that it’s never hit or miss– they always treat you warmly and make sure you’re not missing anything from your meal. Cash only, but ATM inside. Just a testiment to the customer service, once I came to Heidi’s for an early breakfast and found out that the ATM was temporarily out of service. We only had enough cash for half of the meal, and I was going to find a nearby ATM to withdraw from, but George said half was enough and that maybe next time we could settle the check. Half a year later and we did!

I love this place. George and Ava(owners) are extremely welcoming. Anyone that walks in the door gets the same greeting whether it be their first time or they are a diehard regular. It’s like Cheers where everyone knows your name. At least Ava and George do. The blueberry pancakes are my favorite. Light and fluffy and lots of blueberries. The portions are large so I only order one. The home fries are the best around. We always order them crispy. The breakfast burrito is also very good. My friends love the omelettes as well. I will continue to come back as long as I live in the Boston area! Keep up the great work George and Ava!

My boyfriend and I come for breakfast pretty much every weekend. Food is good, consistent. Have alternative meats from pork like turkey bacon and chicken sausage. Definitely worth a try, it can get crowded however.

The owners are Armenian, while they have Greek décor. On top of that, they have plantains on the menu! Plus a star for that. Maybe I made a mistake by ordering an egg in hand, with a side of corned beef hash and plantains. Cleared my plate in short time and, was left unsatisfied. Someone else got waffles with strawberries and, another got an omelet. It all looked good. The owner came by and asked how it was. So, I explained and he offered seconds for no extra charge. Added a side of home fries even. That sure did me in. The others shared a round of plantains and Greek sausage. As for why they offer fried bananas, he explained that it’s due to local demand.

Love the fact that they are open all nite on Friday and Saturday. Would probably have only given 4 stars but for that, as sometimes the service is a little slow. But the coffee and George make up for that. The food is pretty good. It is the coffee and George’s service that we go here for.

How should I begin? Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Heidi’s! Here, you shall be greeted at the door with a smile and a welcoming nod by George, who is rad, within ATLEAST25 minutes. Unless George is somehow absent that day, and that nasty Greek? Russian? Serbian? lady is running things – in which case you shall stand awkwardly in the doorway staring at the local Walthamians at the counter talking about the Pats game as you contemplate leaving because all you have to look at now is the dirty ATM machine next to you and you realize it’s cash only and you only have a credit card. Now – it’s not so bad once you ask nasty lady if you can sit, and she will look you over and say, «yes,» and she will angrily point to the single non-dirty table in the center of the restaurant next to the single old lady with the greasy breakfast. Said old lady will smile at you as you and your friend wonder why you just didn’t go to Taqueria Mexico instead – (it’s really not that far down Moody street) – and sit down to enjoy Heidi’s’ promising eggs and toast! After maybe ten minutes, your friend will rise to visit the restroom, and in the meantime, the nasty lady(or George, hopefully, if he’s there that day) will place two beverage napkins brusquely before you in a manner which suggests«no time!». Your friend will emerge from the disgusting bathroom to inform Nasty Lady that there’s «no soap in the bathroom.» She will laugh, and tell him to use the women’s room, because, apparently, there’s soap in there. If you are lucky enough to have George as your caretaker, he will remember your face, your life story and your order. He’s pretty cool. Then he will bring your water with his finger in your glass and sweat in your greasy eggs. Yum! Ew. I still come here for some reason. I think it’s because I like George. I mean… really???

Well… what can I say. There was a long thick black hair cooked into my omelet. The whole place is really gross. I could see the disheveled woman that the hair came from and it looked like she hadn’t bathed in a week… ya know when hair is really dirty and it starts to clump together from all the grease, yeah she had that goin on. It was incredibly disgusting. Considering the condition of the establishment I’m surprised the board of health hasn’t shut them down.

I’ve tried to like this place but every time I go in there are dirty dishes all over the counter. I’ve also seen the trashed being changed and then no hand washing! It does seem like a friendly place just not that clean so I’m all set.

Staff was friendly and the food was good. The breakfast sandwich was delicious, but the grits were not so good. It’s a nice neighborhood restaurant where the server knew almost everyone who came in. The prices were very reasonable compared to the other breakfast joints in the area– possibly the cheapest breakfast around. So I’d go there again… probably.

Gone here a few times, in the morning. If you like quaint bistro places, this isn’t it. They don’t take credit cards. They keep costs down. They have a counter and tables but George is very friendly and memorizes your order so he doesn’t bother with the whole paper check thing. Food was hot and good! Kind of a local joint, where people at the counter start talking to the other people at the counter because this is the atmosphere of the place. They’ve got some TVs going. They have an ATM machine and bathrooms.

The people at Heidi’s always screw-up the simplest of orders. Once I ordered takeout, and when I went to pick it up, they had no food for me or any recollection of the order!!! Pen and paper people — Its not that hard. I over looked the questionable cleanliness because I liked their egg and cheese sandwiches, but I can no longer endure their incompetence. Goodbye, Heidi’s

Greasy spoon, great french toast at 1 am after dancing the night away! Cheap eats, lots of college kids, and Heidi herself woman’s the kitchen. C– for cleanliness, A+ for a sweet staff, home made touch and cheap pricing.

Over the years I have fallen in love with Heidi’s. Not because they’re the only other place open than greasy Chinese, but because it’s amazing breakfast for cheap cheap cheap! And I absolutely love the staff there, mainly George, who’s pretty much the main man behind the operations. Occasionally, you’ll find Heidi, herself, behind the spatula and counter-top cooking your meal. This is one of those places where you get to know all the after-hours drinking crowd. And definitely a hot spot greasy spoon type diner. Tips: * Opens at midnight on Fridays & Saturday nights . * Slight wait for your food as the kitchen is small and usually pretty busy late at night. * CASHONLY!!!

The first time we went to Heidi’s we ended up walking out. The table we sat at was crammed in the corner near the restrooms. The smell and overall lack of cleanliness put us off. That was 8 months ago. We recently decided to give this little place another chance. After all, it is always full of locals so how bad can it be. I was shocked at how tasty the food was. The eggs were cooked well, tasted fresh and weren’t all covered in grease. The homefries were excellent. The coffee was average. The pancakes were good but the Belgium waffle was disappointing. They still need to clean this place up but if you can deal with it and don’t mind hobnobbing with some Moody st characters, its not bad. I’m giving them 3.5 stars, If they cleaned up the place I would give them 4 stars.

I am not sure everyone on here is hating Heidi’s it really is pretty good if you are looking for a cheap, greasy breakfast. First, they open at midnight so you can get that bacon, egg and cheese at 2:30AM. I have never been there at this hour though. My now fiancée used to live right down the street and since he does not cook he took me here for breakfast several times. They have good ice coffee, yes the guy manning the counter is big and greasy but he is super personable and it is the ladies out back who cook the yummy food. I really like their breakfast sandwiches and my fiancée likes the eggs. I would try it if you are in the mood for a greasy diner breakfast. You will not be let down. FYI: cash only.

We had high hopes for this place when we recently moved to Waltham and could walk here. These hopes were quickly dashed when we sat down at the crowded counter and waited at least 15 minutes to at least be recognized by the disgusting greasy waiter behind the counter. After finally ordering we had to endure 20 minutes of watching this man run his fingers through his sweaty hair while alternating between serving customers and popping tater tots into his mouth. The best decision we made was to leave before our food ever showed up.
