West 38 Family Dinning

We’ve eaten here many times and enjoyed it each time however, since the passing of the head chef we’ve noticed a marked difference with tonight, January 15, 2011 being possibly the last time we’ll eat here. However, Walton needs this restaurant and I hope you’ll take these comments in the spirit in which they are offered; a true desire to see West 38 succeed despite the tragedy suffered last year.
We were the only party in the restaurant tonight but the service was slow and unfriendly. Our server was dressed like a college student who’d just rolled out of bed for class as were all the other workers we could see. She didn’t smile or make us feel particualary welcomed. In fact, she seemed anoyed that we had brought such a large party (8 adults).
She didn’t let us know that veggies were served family style or how incredibly spicy the Seafood (22.95) was going to be.
Much of the food spent a lot of time in the microwave and other food wasn’t as warm as it should have been.
As for the restaurant it self, I counted at least three light bulbs out in each of the ceiling fans, it was very cold and music wasn’t turned on until we requested it.
Your wait staff needs to be trained to be more courteous, more professional and better in appearence.
You are in danger of loosing your restaurant. Perhaps you’re thinking it’s the cold that’s keeping people away but we were at Danny’s the night before and there was a waiting line to get in. They are friendly and happy to have us there. They’re prices are lower and, currently, the food is comprable.
Again, I hope you take these critisisms as thoughtfully given as we want you to succeed. We want to return here again and again but all of the points I’ve made are important. They make a difference and, in West 38’s case, I think it’s going to make the difference between staying opening or being closed by summer.

Saturday night at this lovely restaurant they have a wonderful pianist who plays a wide range of music and is a delight to listen to. It makes dining at West 38 in Walton a pleasure. We had the broiled sea food including salmon, shrimp and scallops — delicious! Definitely worth a visit.
