We were headed to Palace Dumplings, but found them closed on Tuesdays. Unilocal led us to Enso. What a happy surprise. The place is spotlessly clean, the food was delicious and beautifully presented and the service was prompt and friendly.

Sometimes when you try a new restaurant of a certain type of food, doesn’t it feel like you’re cheating on the one you go to most often? That’s how I felt tonight with Enso. For quite some time my wife and I have made another sushi spot down the road our«go to» location, but tonight we wanted to give another one a try. Enso only opened a few months back and they still have the«Grand opening» awning out front. They are located next to «Bagel World» on Route 9 with plenty of parking. It’s decorated nicely inside and has an inviting feel to it. My wife found her usual vegetarian rolls(sweet potato, etc.) which she was very happy with. I opted for a spicy trio — Spicy Salmon, Spicy Tuna and Spicy Yellow-tail rolls, and added a «special» rainbow roll. Everything was fresh and I felt that the rolls were more«full» than my «favorite» sushi place. Might there be a new challenger to that title? There just may be. They don’t offer a «all you can eat» menu and I think this makes a difference in the quality of their product. You definitely get more for what you pay for here Overall a great experience and will likely return. The food was fantastic and the service excellent.

Seems to be new, hopefully they improve. I was in on a weeknight but from 5:00 to 6:30 I was the only customer here. It strikes me that this establishment may not last long. Several thought: — I’m not sure what the«fusion» bit is, perhaps the lonely pad Thai on the menu or the fried rice, but all the dishes appeared to be standard Japanese fare. — I asked if the sushi chef would do an Omakase and neither the server nor the chef knew what it was. Not a good sign for a sushi restaurant. — they did not have the ubiquitous paper sushi menus to select from either which meant rattling off all the individual selections to the server. — sushi quality was OK but definitely not great. Maybe it’s the norm for this area of the country(I live on the ocean and could be slightly spoiled) but we live in an era when quality fish can be flown anywhere. — quantities were also disappointing. Cuts of sushi were not small but not generous and the menu items are single pieces rather than two. The rainbow roll was small by most standards, the size I would typically expect of a tuna cut roll for example whereas a rainbow is typically oversized. — speaking of the rainbow roll, it had just four cuts of fish(salmon, tuna, shrimp, hamachi) whereas I would typically expect a «rainbow» to have more color and variety. The filling was also just a solid fake crab stick. I’m fine with imitation crab but it is usually at least shredded and mixed with some condiment, that difference in texture is huge. — sushi was rather bland in preparation. Presentation was so-so and the use of ponzu or such was nonexistent. Tomago came as sushi rather than sashimi as I would expect. — they were completely out of Uni at the start of service. That’s just poor planning. I can understand running out during service but at 5:00 you knew you were out the previous night and should have placed the order. — I honestly don’t pay close attention to price but it strikes me that the one positive was it was economical. My meal with two beers was $ 76. I feel like sushi usually runs me $ 150+ — wine is cheap($ 21-$ 26/bottle) although very limited selection and nothing familiar to me. Even for a mediocre bottle that is a great price in a restaurant though. Two stars as it is not horrible but really has a lot of growing to do. Again maybe for the region(this is upstate New York and rather remote for this city dweller) this is the expected norm.

Astounded to find a sushi place like this in this area. Everything I ate was wonderful. Creative rolls, fish was fresh. It was a very nice experience. Service was beyond good. The décor was very nice and music was good too. I’ll go here again.

Surprisingly Nice white leather mod décor for this new Japanese restaurant set in a Route 9 mini-mall. Ordered Chirashi Dinner, which was unusually plated; I prefer a more traditional presentation. Gotta say: looked great, tasted okay. Salmon Teriyaki Bento Dinner got my son’s seal of approval. Large portions! Did not have delicacy of real Japanese style. More Chinese flash!

I really hate to be the first to give this place less than 5 starts, but I just don’t find it to be anything other than ordinary. I had been hesitant to try Enso since I already have a go-to for sushi but the previous reviews swayed me. We started with the kani salad, which we get almost everytime we get sushi. It was like fire with a distinct taste of of cayenne pepper. And, while I realize most ethnic food around isn’t necessary«authentic,» I’m pretty sure cayenne pepper in Japanese food is way off base. The menu also stated that the kani salad had caviar but we couldn’t find it. When we asked the waitress to confirm, she said«maybe it’s very, very, small?» Things that make you go hmmm… We then got a few special rolls and some standard ones. The rainbow roll was good, nothing wow, but it was good. The yummy roll had more of the fire crab on it and was almost too hot to eat more than a couple pieces. The Hawaii roll was definitely the best we had and was a nice flavor combination. As for the sweet potato roll, it was on the small side and filled with hard white sweet potato. The spicy tuna roll was pretty average. The interior and food presentation is beautiful and the happy hour and lunch specials seem great, unfortunately, the food just kind of fell flat. Especially when I consider the really great sushi just a few miles down the road.

I feel a bit late to the party but have to say I’m very impressed! Enso is only a mile from my house though I had never really thought to stop in. I don’t usually look at Unilocal in my own area as I just know where to go… apparently I need to keep up. I was craving something different and saw all of the great reviews so I gave it a shot. I only went for takeout but the bar and space inside are very nice so my next trip will definitely be for dinner at the bar. I ordered the Enso Roll and the House Special Yaki… both were exceptional. If you like Japanese definitely give it a shot… I know I have found a new regular place to go! Cheers.

I think Enso has become one of my favorite new go-to’s– they’re one of the only few places I know that serves AMAZING donburi. I checked out this place very reluctantly one winter night, and boy was I glad I did. I did take out, but the staff was super friendly and very helpful. I got the Oyako Don, remembering my first time trying a Don dish being with my father. I was not disappointed. Everything was great, and save for having a surprise serving of oshinko and mushrooms in the dish, I was pleased! Now any time I go I get either Oyako Don(chicken) or Gyo Don(beef) and ask for the mushrooms and oshinko to be taken out. Enso caters to what you want and I’d highly recommend this place if you love Asian and Japanese food!

I love their bento boxes, the food is so delicious and the price is also right. I been there two times. The people always are nice when you go there. The place doesn’t look like much from the outside but when you go in its a very beautiful place, the menu has a hard cover and its black. The floor has golden flowers and the bathrooms oh the women’s bathroom its so gorgeous outside the door has like a painting of a traditional japanesse clothing. Their takeout food trays are also cute. Overall its a nice place with awesome food, would recommend to everyone.

Just had an exquisite meal. Presentation was amazing. The sushi chef created such masterpieces I almost didn’t want to ruin their creations. The taste was out of this world. These dishes are comparable to the ones from Manhattan. For apps: try the BBQ beef ribs, nicely smoked pepper flavor. For the main, My favorite is the fireball, it’s a roll miso wrapped with spicy salmon crunch and seaweed salad inside. Another delicious roll is the red dragon roll: spicy tuna with crunch fresh tuna on top. If you’re into cooked foods, try the beef negimaki: scallion wrapped with beef or a Pad Thai. The service is excellent. Atmosphere is modern and chic, very pleasant dining experience. Best Japanese place in town!

Tried this restaurant only once. Haven’t tried the rest so I can’t say it’s the best but it was damn good especially the sweet potato roll which I’ve never had. Just the perfect combination of sweet and tart and the eel was fresh and the right combination with the sweet potato roll, just perfect! If you are ever in this neck of the woods and you want to be adventurous, give these guys a try… it’s worth it.

Outstanding from the appetizers, seaweed salad, bbq squid, shumai excellent, fresh! our sashimi was incredible from quail eggs, fluke, stripe bass, tuna, salmon belly, squid, uni and Let’s not forget the deliciously prepared giant clams all prepared in front of us. One word amazing. The wait staff is smiling alone with being professional. We have never and we dont expect to ever have a bad meal. This is the place for real sushi eaters go. In addition, they have a kitchen cooking outrageous dishes. We cannot wait to go again. Thank you enso for a fantastic Friday night!

I was heading to get some information about the opening of a golf course that I play during the summer and spotted a grand opening banner advertising sushi. I spoke with a guy that was just leaving and he said it was real good, so I decided to give Enso a try. As I entered this restaurant I was very surprised with the way it was decorated. I chose to sit at the sushi bar and watch the chef do his thing and he did it well. The sushi was very fresh and the presentation was amazing, he drew a picture of a tree with leaves on the plate out of the sauce that he put on the sushi. I can write about this place all day long but I’m not because they all ready know that I’ll be back. So if you are in the area you will not be disappointed, it’s the best sushi spot in town.

Since moving to the area I’ve been looking for a good sushi place locally. I’ve been to three others besides Enso but this is by far the best I’ve found. Sushi is fresh, delicious, and overall well priced. Inside is really nice as well as clean, it is a newer place after all which explains why it doesn’t appear to be getting the traffic it should be yet.

This place is not only the most gorgeous Japanese restaurant with the most city atmosphere but it is always delicious, never crowded, and the service is impeccable. I’m particular about food and they always accommodate my requests without skipping a beat. If you want great Japanese food with stunning presentation check this place out. You’ll never believe it’s in a small plaza. Spread the word about this place so they get a good start in their first year, check it out for yourself!

My sister suggested that we try Enso and I was abit apprehensive but I caved and boy thank goodness I did. The food was by far some of the best sushi I ever had. We ordered 4 rolls(dinosaur roll **my favorite **, tiger roll, summer roll and Enso roll) all were delicious. We happened to be the only ones dining and it was quite beautiful inside. This place I will definitely come back too.

Incredible what can I say Valentines dinner was a the best. They know how to treat their customers here. The food was so delectable incredibly sumptuous. The presentation so sexy on a plate you just couldn’t stop eating. With the exception of them not knowing how to make a vodka martini but they quickly learn how and was able to make it although we did wind up canceling it for a hot sake. I will most definitely be back to eat more of this incredible fusion food it made me so happy tonight.

My family and I have been to Enso many times and love it! The food is excellent(fantastic presentation!!), the prices are very reasonable, the service is wonderful(everyone is professional and friendly without being intrusive), and the décor is beautiful(clean, spacious bathrooms!). My young daughter loves salmon teriyaki and always asks to go here because she likes the food and has made friends with the waitresses and owner. The restaurant is family friendly and also a great choice if you want to have a night out with your wife /hubby or impress a date. There are few restaurants of this caliber in the area, I hope they do well.

Food– GREAT! I was around the area and saw a grand opening sign for this japanese fusion restaurant. I had to give it a try. The front of the store looked plain but on the inside, the décor was totally different. Clean, not too bright and not too dark. The music was subtle and wasnt annoyingly loud or awkwardly quiet. The servers were great and were attentive. The bar was completely stocked. There are 2 big flat screen tvs at the bar. Great for game days. There is a sushi bar where you can watch the chef work his magic and create some magnificent pieces of sushi that is worthy of putting on the wall for display The dining area is huge and can definitely accommodate parties from 2 to 15 people. There is also a private party room, great venue for company parties, meetings, birthdays, engagements and other celebrations. They have take out as well. Definitely worth a try.
