I called for a carry out at 9:47 pm. The lady that picked up the phone said we do not take anymore carry out orders after 9:45. I told her I was 2 miles away, if I was to walk in was I able to make a order she said «as long aa its before 10:00pm» i got there at 9:55 pm and the door was locked. I will be leaving bad reviews on Unilocal,yahoo, and also google. Thats not customer service. I also will be contacting the corporate office about this matter. Why did the girl tell me If I made it there by 10 I was able to order. She locked the door knowing I was only a few minutes away.

Chicken Shack has been a Detroit area institution for a reason. They have great food! Sometimes it’s extremely difficult to decide what you want to eat so you just buy a mess of everything and just chow. Obviously, chicken is king there. But don’t just think you can get chicken, the ribs and fish and chips are also some of the best in the area. Don’t just settle for their french fries, which by the way are very good, but get their broasted potatoes. Wow! Oh, don’t forget about coleslaw, it’s excellent. The only thing I wish they still had was the smelt. I used to get that all the time. Management, hint hint. If you need to cater a meal, you can’t do better than chicken, ribs, potatoes and coleslaw as the main-​courses of your dinner.

I have been patronizing this location since May 1994 I find the Ribs and Fish are outstanding. however the chicken is the worst no flavor very bland. the broasted potatoes are the best. I use the drive through window and I was served quickly and efficiently. Also the best Cole slaw in the business !!

A Friday fish carry out. Ordered for 4 people. I catfish dinner, 1 shrimp and 2 cod dinners. 2extra orders of some of best coleslaw I have ever had, along with semi greasy, but yet good breasted potatoes. Everything was quite good. Ended up with some leftovers. Bill came to $ 52. Been years since I have had chicken, or ribs from here, but they used to be good also.

Michigan original, started in the late 50’s. Broasted potatoes are the real deal. Chicken is OK, and made fresh. If you order chicken in person, expect to wait 10 – 15 minutes since it is cooked to order. Parking lot is way too small, so you may want to park in Oak Ridge’s parking lot and walk a few more steps if the lot is full.

I orderd $ 43 for 1 slab and 12 pieces of chicken. Why do I have to pay .70 extra for a packet of bbq sauce? Absurd!!!

Sometimes when I go to the assisted living place to visit an old old friend I will pick her up dinner from Chicken Shack because it is on the way to the HOME! She loves loves loves the cole slaw so I usually buy her a large cole slaw and just 2 pieces of chicken. The restaurant is a fast food chicken place, but it does have ribs and pork chops as well. One of these days I will order pork chops because she loves them, but I think the price for the pork chops is a little much. Went here yesterday and called beforehand and when I got there I drove up to the window and the food was ready. No complaints from my old old friend, so I guess the food is decent.

I wish I could say that the chicken is fantastic like everyone else does. It’s okay. My chicken was freshly fried and hot. The only seasoning I could taste was salt. Not too much salt, but just salt. I’m sad to say that KFC or certainly Popeye’s has tastier chicken. They seem to put other seasonings in the flour other than salt. The service was fine, the place was clean, I really wish I could say more about the chicken. I won’t return.

Been pressured to try chicken shack for a long time, and I know that I should not give in to pressure. Tried it, got sick, had to throw out a now grease bleached pair of pants, yet loved the potatoes. The chicken was awful but the potatoes were excellent. Will never return just because of the chicken.

We eat get carry out from here about once a month. The chicken is good & I love the potatoes. A shack pack is a pretty good deal for us as we usually end up with leftovers.

I love chicken shack. They have the only cole slaw that I like. I don’t know what it is, but its AMAZING.
Also their potatoes.
I’ve gone there and ordered only these two things and made a meal out of it.
The chicken is very good, but what gets me there is the battered cod. It was AMAZING.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Chicken Shack before now…
I am reviewing this location because it’s where I order from.
The only downer, and the reason for 4 and not 5 stars is THIS LOCATION DOES NOT DELIVER!!!
I know, right? Fucking bummer!
BUT, on the other hand, I will walk there if i’m craving their damn rib snack. Good God that sauce is incredible to me… I don’t know what it is about those ribs, but they never disappoint!
I also love the chicken, the fish, the potatoes the coleslaw, … so yeah,… fucking great stuff!
Um, I should probably mention that Chicken Shack catered my wedding.
Yeah, i’m redneck like that. It’s just how I roll.
