When visiting family for the holidays, we spent three night(Christmas Eve, Christmas, and day after) at the Fairfield Inn in Niles. I always feel so badly about making people work around the holidays, but I was very thankful to have the accommodations, given that my parents were renovating their house, and no WAY am I sharing a bathroom with 5 other people! Here’s what I was really happy with: — Very friendly staff: Everyone we interacted with was professional, cheery, and responsive — Pricing: great value, especially around a major holiday. — Pillows: very comfy and enough of them — Cleanliness: pretty good. No bugs, and the bathroom was in great condition when we arrived — Breakfast: good variety on their breakfast bar, including a waffle iron and hot eats, as well as the usual fruit, yogurt, toast, and cereal choices — Housekeeping: even though we opted not to have the room cleaned, they slipped a note under the door each day so we knew they had stopped to check if we had changed our mind. As I mentioned above, the room was very clean when we arrived, and everything looked wonderful. What I wasn’t quite thrilled with: — When we arrived, my room smelled like food. I’m talking like when you fry food, leave the oil on the stove, then smell your kitchen after you’ve eaten and that greasy smell is lingering in the air. SOSTRANGE! But they brought me a bottle of air freshener to keep in the room, and that helped a bit. — Wear and tear: The bedding needed to be refreshed, as pillow cases had tears in the seams and some of the linens showed wear in the fabric. While it’s not the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in, and it was really one of few options available to us since we reserved our rooms last-minute, I wasn’t disappointed with the stay, and we would consider this if we had no option at our regular chain again. The staff were definitely the highlight of our stay, so kudos to the Fairfield team.

Stayed in room 120 Spacious, clean. Bathroom was larger and very well lit(I find it annoying when it’s dark in a bathroom). Cons: only one, too much air freshener. Once in the room you get used to it, but at first WOW is it strong. I have stayed at this Fairfield Inn in the past and would do so again in the future.
