Went this weekend and loved the food. My husband and I had an excellent server(Kevin) who was delightful. Looking forward to a second visit.

The Cheese Plate is now on its third owner since first opening and has undergone quite a few changes since the beginning. The current owner also owns Tortilla Flats and has definitely given the place a bit more of an upscale feel. The prices reflect that as well. The menu has been expanded which is a welcome change. Some times you do want just a little more than wine and cheese. On our most recent visit I had both the Cabernet and the Toscana. Both were pretty good. We started with a small Italian plate of cheese and upgraded to the truffle pecorino. In addition to the cheese, the plate had dried apricots, honey, candied almonds, sliced pears and what tasted like a white grape spread. It was served with a basket of bread. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We also had an arugula salad with had grape tomatoes, apples, prosciutto, and goat cheese. This was very tasty. The sweet and salty flatbread was also delicious, although smaller than we expected. It had fig jam, spinach, prosciutto, pear and blue cheese. The dessert list was very tempting and we chose to get the dark chocolate and white chocolate mousse cake, but the real star was the pear tart served with nuts and blue cheese. That was simply amazing. It was an enjoyable meal and evening, I just find the prices to be a little high for what you get.

I HATE writing reviews like this. In fact, I’m not sure that I ever have. Unfortunately this was an extremely unpleasant experience for my girlfriends and I, and I’ll explain why. We walked in this afternoon shortly after the restaurant opened and no one was seated. We were offered any table we’d like, and after looking at the menu(and asking the advice of the server) all selected the same naan pizza. After 20 minutes(at least) and two more parties being seated, we had still not received our food. The other tables, however, had. So I called our server over to ask if he would check on our food since it was taking so long. Here’s where things got weird. He looked at me as if I asked him to swing by planet Mars for my food and said«Oh. It’ll be out shortly.» As if all food takes forever(we’re not in Europe) and did not apologize or provide any explanation. He proceeds to go into the kitchen and a woman brings out our pizzas less than 30 seconds later. As she serves us she says«The pizza does take a few minutes longer because we only have a small convection oven». Ok. Again, no apology or acknowledgement that it has taken this long to receive our food. Then we try our«pizzas» and unfortunately the naan is of pancake consistency. Super doughy and almost raw tasting. Strange. We all agreed, and agreed to keep our plates because we were three starving pregnant ladies. When the server stopped over to see how everything was, the woman who served us was behind him. I explained that our pizza was extremely doughy, and while it was flavorful, it was not pizza consistency(no crisp whatsoever). The woman(who I later found out was the manager) asked my friend if hers was doughy as well to which she replied«yes». Then what did they say to us? Nothing. Not a word. They looked at each other and walked away. It was bizarre. No apology, no acknowledgment, nothing. We all continued to eat and when the manager came over to clear our plates she simply said«There’s no charge for your meals today» and walked away. For some reason I was left with the impression that I should feel bad for not enjoying my pancake. There was no apology. There was an acknowledgement(no bill), but as customers we were left feeling awkward and almost pulled to apologize for the horrible service and food we received. I will not be revisiting this well-reviewed spot, and am thoroughly disappointed to say so.

Great menu, good atmosphere, nice décor, delicious food. With a friend we shared the«Classic Cow» cheese plate, a grilled fig and cheese sandwich and the most incredible almond, pear and blue cheese tart ever. The tart really set the experience apart, just absolutely sensational. Can’t wait to go again! Ideal for a date or an evening out with the girls or a place to bring your parents.(Not little kid friendly.)

Last night my wife and I dined at the Cheese Plate along with what seemed to be everyone else whose LivingSocial deal was expiring. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why we don’t dine here more often. It was a wine night for sure but there were decent draft choices too. I started with the Pergliamici Toscana and later opted for the Condesa Deleganza Crianza. I enjoy both but preferred the Toscana by far. We also chose the Italian Cheese Plate which was a nice offering of about 4 different cheeses, a fruit spread, almonds, pear slices, and dried apricot. All good stuff but the key for me was and always will be a good piave and I was not disappointed. We probably ordered more than we should have. We continued with the Arugala Salad which was great, and a Sweet and Salty Naan pizza — also good but a bit sweet with the fig sauce. Yes we did have dessert, sharing the Pear and Almond Tart(the clear winner) and the Chocolate Mouse cake. All in all a nice experience, which admittedly did come to a higher bill than expected, but was still quite enjoyable.

Sorry Unilocalers, gotta disagree with you on this one. We too love the Warren«restaurant row,» and while the food has some good aspects, the place is cute, and the staff are nice, it’s not to die for. My wife I tried 2 of the gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. The sourdough bread was your basic supermarket sourdough sliced loaf bread, with no appreciable sour tang. The cheeses were excellent though. My wife got«the goat,» which had nice arugula and balsamic glaze, but the strawberries were sweet, they were also slightly gray and bruised, this on a Friday at lunch time. I got«the house» which was very good, but the grapes were also a little old and bruised. The pickles and kalamata olives were a nice touch, providing a nice sour, vineagery contrast, but the charcuterie was mediocre at best. The sopresata and capicola were OK, but the prosciutto was downright disappointing, almost bland, with no appreciable saltiness or earthiness of good aged ham. The coffee was also mediocre. I think they’re more like 2 ½ stars, but gave them 3 stars because 2 stars would be too low, and there were some things that we liked…

Great cheese, but the service sucks. The day we went there was a blackboard outside advertising $ 5 off any cheese plate. When the bill came, they gave us a coupon for $ 5 off our next visit. Total false advertising.

I just love the ever growing foodie scene on the Warren waterfront and Cheese Plate only makes me like this stretch of Water Street even more. My fiancée and I stopped by here for a light lunch and were pleasantly surprised how good everything was. For starters, we came on a beautiful fall day, got a table outside and they let us tie up our pup to a nearby post so he could keep us company. My fiancée opted for a tea but I tried the farmhouse saison from CA — so F’in good, definitely try it if your a farmhouse saison fan! We ended up splitting the NE cheese plate, which smacked us in the face it was so good; an aged cheddar, a blue cheese, a goat cheese and a roquefort, with a really good fig spread and plenty of bread to eat it with. We both had a naan sandwich as well, I went with the Holiday and it was equal parts meaty, sweet and savory with turkey, swiss, arugula and cranberries, perfectly melted. One of the better sandwiches I had in recent memory! Service was great and not pushy at all. Prices were manageable. Pet friendly. Vibe and décor were chilled and laid back. I think building out the menu would take this place over the top i.e. maybe some entrees or a few heartier dishes? Otherwise, I’ll definitely stop by next time I need to get my cheese fix!

A great little spot in Warren if you want to get cozy with some girlfriends over a glass of vino, bread, and CHEESE. We got the classic cow and the italian plate(the 2 person plates) and they were both MORE than enough for the 4 of us. Each plate comes with a little bowl of dried fruit, preserves of some kind(tasty…tasty!) and these amazing caramelized almonds — and of course a basket of bread. YUM. Their bottle prices aren’t bad so go ahead and just order the whole thing for the table.

We stopped in to The Cheese Plate for a light supper and were glad we did. The restaurant itself was fairly small but inviting and well put-together. Our supper selection was quite lovely; the house salad was well-prepared and definitely big enough for two to share, the soup of the day(gazpacho) tasted freshly made, but, quite honestly, as the restaurant name would imply, the real stars of the evening were the cheeses(okay…the pâté, too…). They were well-selected, nicely ripened(i.e., they didn’t just take them out of the deli case and plate them), and the small plate was more than the two of us could get through. In my opinion, the weakest among our selections was the charcuterie plate, which just didn’t seem to be of the same quality as the cheeses and the pâté, but was still more than just okay. This place is a bit of a hidden gem and I hope it does well; we went ~ 6PM on a Friday evening and there were only two other tables there when we arrived. We’ll definitely go back!

I haven’t been here since before the place got it’s most recent manager/owner. Going to this restaurant isn’t the healthiest of options. I think the most cheese you’re supposed to eat is a few little squares, and here, you share 4 – 6 big pieces of cheese with a few people. Not to mention all of the drinks and meat you have if you get a meat plate. It has also gotten more expensive since cheese restaurants started showing up in the area. The cheese is delicious, especially when they let you choose the general types you want, and the dry fruits and nuts perfectly compliment the plate. I would recommend going once to try it but not visiting on a weekly basis.

I had a pretty nasty review of this place from 2010 but I felt like leaving it up wasn’t fair to the new owners who have turned this place around. We love coming here and trying new cheeses. Everyone is super friendly and very knowledgeable. If you’re not in the mood for cheese try their salad! It’s huge, affordable, and delicious! I’m a huge fan now and wish them many years of success.

What a great gem on the Warren waterfront! Originally saw the video on Unilocal and thought the place looked pretty sweet. Stopped in for dinner and confirmed my initial impression. Walked into a a warm welcome and a familiar face. We ordered the Spanish plate and some charcuterie. It was delicious and, when combined with a salad for starters, made for the perfect amount of food for great night out. The wine selection was very complimentary to the food offerings. Also, save room for dessert, they’re delicious. A note for my fellow Providence folks: Warren is just down the road(or Trail). Don’t be shy. This area of Warren has a few great places that well worth visiting.

Had a wonderful evening here just the other week. The menu is well laid out and the sever explained everything. We started off with the pates, then ordered two cheese plates and a charcuterie plate. The server recommend a bottle of wine and hit a home run. The décor is upscale and comfortable, a great place to relax on a friday night. We never felt rushed and the food was served at just the right pace. The pates are homemade and were delicious. We ordered the Spanish and French cheese plates, both were a good size and the cheeses were top notch. The same goes for the charcuterie. Overall a great dinner and nice evening. I’m so happy to see another place in Warren that has opened in that last few year to vastly improve the food scene.

As that great philosopher Mickey Mouse once said: «Cheese Makes you Happy.» The assortment of cheeses at «The Cheese Plate» certainly did put a big smile on my face after a very long week. The big glass of wine helped too… I Stopped in for a cheese plate app while en route to another local restaurant it was a great way to kill the«wait» time. Spain was calling… so we ordered the plate filled with the best from Espana and it didn’t disappoint. It all comes accompanied with jams, candied nuts, pears, apricots, honey and lovely fresh warmed bread. If i didn’t already have a reservation somewhere else I would have stayed and checked out the rest of their menu because some of the specials that day sounded enticing. The ambiance is very quaint… a great spot to grab wine and apps with friends or go on a first date(when dinner is too much of a committment but you’re tired of doing plain old drinks or coffee) I will definitely be back.

I decided to the Cheese Plate another go, and ordered the exact same thing as the first visit except the 3 – 4 person plate. I must say this experience was much improved! I ordered the New England plate and received 4 good sized chunks of yummy cheese, a filled-to-the-brim container of apricots, wonderful fig jam, honey, a delicious nut mix and two loves of bread. Perhaps I caught them on a bad training day as they had only been opened for a few days. Hopefully our next experience is equally as good!

I’m impressed. I’m not really a cheese person, and I’d never even considered the idea of just cheese and wine for dinner. — My idea of dinner is usually a fat burger. soooo… When I arrived here, I looked at the menu and said. «Really? Just cheese?» HAHA, but once I started to read the descriptions and the«collections» I began to get excited. I went with my friend(and fellow Elite) Mark S. and I believe we had the french plate, and also ordered some prociutto and bread. It was plenty enough for 2 people, and I was full! It’s a bit on the fancier side, I could see coming here for wine with girl friends or a date –even«friend» dates… :D Good job! I want to come back!

I came in this past Friday night and had a great time. I would give it 5 stars but since Unilocal filters the majority of 5 star ratings I am putting 4. It’s very nice inside with lots of tables and plenty of natural lighting with all the windows. The service was great. I enjoy wine but don’t know a damn thing about it. Plus I always forget the names of wines I like. Steve the manager was very helpful and knowledgeable. He had suggestions and gave me a sample. Of course I can’t remember what it was but I liked it. We split the New England plate which had a good variety of cheeses — blue, goat, cheddar and a few others. They were all delicious. The plate also included sliced apples, dried apricots, fig spread, delicious honey, house made candied nuts and fresh baked bread. I am not sure why people are complaining about the prices. Our plate was $ 14 and filled the two of us up. I didn’t have room for desert but everything sounded delicious. I look forward to coming back!

Under the second owner, prices have greatly increased and the attention to service and quality has unfortunately decreased. I love stinky cheese, but when I’m getting served bad Morbier that tastes like blighted feet, you have to wonder how a place like this stays in business.

Cheese, meat, wine — enough said! There’s typically a LOOOONG wait, but it’s all part of the ambiance. Great for a Sunday afternoon, or day/night when you’re not in a rush.
