Our first experience with this company was last summer when, after our A/C conked out completely and was working again, we were getting quotes to replace the system. Bert came out for free and instead of giving us a quote, made some adjustments to our dampers and told us he did not think the system warranted replacement. The house was cooler all summer. This winter we got fed up with keeping our main level warm and asked Bert if he could see where our problems were. He recommended some reasonable solutions and we scheduled the work. The crew was thorough, pleasant, diligent, and careful. We are now service plan customers with TLC.

After recommendation from a friend I decided to sign up for TLC’s service plan and have had nothing but a great experience.
My first encounter with them was when my water softener started having issues, I gave them a call and they had a tech out at my house the same day. He performed a thorough inspection of the equipment, walked me through what he was doing, and tested for water hardness, PH levels, and various other contaminants. Once the tech was done he gave me an estimate to fix the system(old) as well as other options to replace. There was zero pressure to make the purchase on the spot and the quoted prices were fair… also get 10% off as a preferred customer, that’s a win The second service performed by TLC was the winter cleaning and inspection of my Carrier Infinity HVAC system with dual fuel(heat pump/furnace). The tech completely disassembled the blower and thoroughly cleaned and tested/inspected all electrical connections in the furnace, made a few minor adjustments to the fuel mixture, and went outside to disassemble/clean the heat pump and inspect/test electrical connections. I highly recommend TLC’s service plan. No sales pressure either, they just present you with options and a few opinions then let you decide on your own terms.

I called over 1 month ago about issues that the job Bert Russell had started was not completed. He pushed my appointments, refused to answer my calls, and waited until 5 minutes before an appointment to LIE that the work I was claiming was not finished, was never part of the original job. I contacted a manager: Dean, who is standing by his plumber and claiming with the plumber’s notes, that re-attaching my shower handle in my shower that Bert took apart when he arrived to fix the leak in my home, was never part of the job. This is the worst customer service that I have ever received. I paid for a job that was unfinished. I paid for a preferred client agreement that is worthless in my opinion because there is no point to continue an agreement where the customer service on a job is pathetic. I am a REPEAT customer. I have worked with Kevin on a different property, and was VERY happy with the service of a sump pump installation that was installed in the past. The entire reason why I called TLC services to fix the leak in my new property was because I received such good service in the PAST. I guess that the future of TLC services is that their customer service is seriously LACKING when they claim that as a customer I am lying about the way that my shower existed in the first place. Don’t bother calling this company if you want the job to be finished.

I just had Appleton Campbell out for a diagnoses of my A/C problem, Turns out it low on Freon. The quote for 3 lbs of Freon was extremely steep so I decided to call around for other quotes. So when I called TLC and told them specifically what I wanted, I was told we don’t do quotes over the phone and when I tried to ask another question, they hung up on me. Kind of an unusual way to run your business wouldn’t you say? Apparently they really want the the service fee etc. Needless to say I won’t be calling them back.

Do not use unless you want to sell your first born, second born and possibly 3rd born child to pay the bill. Plumbers are expensive, we are all aware of this but this company is over the top. A simple clogged kitchen drain is over $ 500 to snake. 10 minutes of work to complete for $ 500! No special skills needed, and a tool that costs $ 50 at Lowes can do the job. If you are desperate and need work done quick they are able to come out fast but you will pay BIG for it. Do a little research and ask for a price list before you have them or anyone come out. I will not be using TLC again even if my house is flooded to the ceiling.

Worst service ever. Like a Jekyll and Hyde themed Rom-Com: all butterflies and rainbows during the selling process, and then the mask is removed once the money changes hands. Pretty sure they screwed up the installation of the wrong-sized boiler, which now not only does not heat our home, it also consumes twice the water our old one did. The money we were allegedly going to save in fuel efficiency is lost in highher water bills. We are more upside down than before. And Mr. Hyde is nowhere to be found. Worst service ever.

Contacted TLC Services for a quote to Aeroseal my duct work. My home was built in the late sixties with sheet metal ducts. From what I learned from company that installed by new furnace, systems are over-sized because building code allows for a certain about of leakage in the duct system. I do not like the idea of heating and cooling wall cavities, so I wanted all the leaks sealed. Quick Response — I contacted the seven contractors in the NOVA area and started to field quotes. TLC was the only company that actually gave me a quote after a phone interview. After quoting the service call, a followup email confirmed the cost and confirmed by service date. Within 6 hours of my initial inquiry, I was scheduled for air duct cleaning and Aeroseal. I opted to use TLC for Aeroseal and Sears for duct cleaning(big mistake, but that is another story for a different review). Best Price — TLC quoted the lowest price. They also offer a discount if you sign-up for their maintenance package. I did not need the service since my system is covered by the installer. I was offered a military discount since my spouse and I retired from the US Army. Really cool that TLC respect and honors military families. Training and certified technicians — Matt and Cam arrived on time and walked me through the Aeroseal process. They both maintain a certification and understand how to operate the equipment. Superior Service — The service took about 8 hours. Of the 8 hours, about 90 minutes was spent actually sealing leaks in the duct work. After the initial reading, my duct work leaked about 536CFM. Let’s just say that is equivalent to a 100 inch square hole. The leakage was reduced to 31CFM — 6 inch square hole. They estimate I gained about 27% airflow. Good Results — I have a 4 ton system, but only 3 tons of air may have exited the registers. I know we are experiencing warmer bedrooms and open spaces. Our home feels warmer while the heat is running. The rooms at the end of the duct run now receive warmer air, by about 9 degree. Cannot beat that.

I’d give no stars if it were possible. Do NOT use TLC Services. This has to be one of the worst-run businesses I have ever dealt with. As I type this, I currently have a major leak in my home. I noticed it this morning when I went to take my dog out before work. Water coming out of an unknown pipe, pouring out of my ceiling on my main floor. I called TLC Services immediately to schedule an appointment and was told they would be at my home any time between 1200 and 1600. I said that was fine and began to clean up. Since I work far away, I had to take the entire day off of work, but the representative assured me someone would be out today. 1200 rolls around… No one shows up. 1300… no one shows up… 1400… no one shows up… 1500 no one shows up… 1545, I get a message from Reece at TLC saying they’re running behind and that they would like to schedule me for another date and time. Um… No. I can’t take many days off. I stayed home and didn’t call any other plumber because YOURCOMPANY, TLCSERVICES, said you could do the job today. You’re running behind and your guy is tired? I don’t give a #@!. I’ve got a problem here that is already costing me a day’s pay, plus whatever you charge, and is destroying my home. It’s not as if I’m having a bathroom remodel done. If your job is running long, suck it up and fulfill your obligations for the day. Don’t make me wait all day, then call 15 minutes before you’re supposed to arrive to cancel. What a bunch of jerks. Anyway, I call Reece back and tell him that I can’t reschedule and that I need them to take care of this today. He says he’ll see what he can do… I hang up the phone and think to myself«if they’re this jacked up, and care this little about a customer with an emergency, then find someone else»… Which is what I did. They’ll be here shortly. Thanks for wasting my time TLC Services.

These people are pathetic. They are contracted with a home warranty company, and when they show up refuse to do the work. There are lots of companies that would like work… unthinkable that a provider like this would flat out refuse a job. Call somebody else.

Nope. Never again. They came out for $ 250 — no, $ 400 — no, $ 800 — tried to charge me $ 500OVER the retail cost of a furnace part PLUS labor. Tracked grease through the house and left oily debris by the furnace. BTW, no, did not actually fix the heater that stopped when it ran out of oil. You could do less damage CHEAPER if you buy the entire replacement burner on eBay or Amazon

I’ve used TLC twice now for HVAC work and both times I was very pleased with their service. The first time I used them was about a year ago when my AC died(of course in the middle of the summer heat wave!). They were able to come out quicky and the service technician assessed the issue, provided me with a price quote, and then quickly made the repair. I used them again recently for a routine/annual HVAC inspection and cleaning. Once again I was impressed with how quickly they were able to schedule me and with the work that was done. They provide you price quotes before any work is done, giving you an estimate of the best and worst case scenario for the repair(depending on what they find when they get in there, which of course can change things). Their prices were very reasonable and right within the quoted estimate range. Nice job guys, I’ll definitely be using them again.
