A Piece of Cake

Customer service was awful. Lady/​girl working. Hope she wasn’t owner she was so unpleasant! Dry $ 5 cookie also. Never again

Walked in here just before closing time (partially by accident). I just saw the spot at the strip mall on Airport Road x Post Rd and was intrigued by the name. How can you not go in to a place whose name is «A Piece of Cake»? Let’s begin with the ambiance. Cool surroundings (literally, AC is a welcome feeling coming in from an 86 °F humid weather outside), spartan yet tasteful furnishing, clean and oh-so-smelling-like-(the)-new place that it is, an amiable owner behind the counter. Free wifi. Some coffee on pods available if you feel like hanging out for a bit. Sadly, this day, I didn’t see any cake slices. Some cookies and dessert bars. Perhaps partially because it is closing time and it happens to be a Sunday (speculating here). They do have enough cupcake teasers, though. Loved the variety although they are the usual favorites– peanut butter, cookies and cream, chocolate, red velvet, yellow cake… you know. Well now, here’s where the taste will matter. I took a red velvet. Cost me $ 2.74, and packed in a nice, protective plastic dome. Help yourself to purple napkins, plastic forks and knives if you need them. After 10 minutes, I opened my dome with the treat. Taste test! Sliced into the cupcake… oh no, it was dry with not enough frosting for my taste. Sad face. I expected something more moist with a more luscious frosting. I am still giving this place 3 stars because I haven’t gone through all the varieties and cake slices yet. They are new and I see other reviews that say they are good. Creative looking goodies, though. But that’s my caveat emptor from experience: A-​Ok. Maybe I’ll see you there on my return…

My husband and I decided to find out the sex of our baby, with our family surrounding us. What better way with a gender reveal cake?! I had taken a blood test and asked the doctor to write the gender down on a piece of paper and seal it an envelope. I contacted Brittni as I had heard about and seen her amazing cupcakes and cakes through the Facebook page for «A Piece of Cake». She provided me with some ideas when I indicated I wasn’t sure what design I wanted as well as pricing.
My husband and I finally settled on a design and provided it to Brittni along with the envelope. I did ask that she open the envelope there to ensure it was legible to which she did and remained very professional and mum about what was on that paper!
My husband picked up the cake and I was so excited upon seeing it! It was exactly what we had wanted. He also picked up an array of delicious cupcakes for those with an extra sweet tooth and they all looked delicious. The cake gave away no signs of whether it was colored pink or blue on the inside. Once we cut into it, we were so surprised to see the pink! And to top it off, it was delicious — the cake itself was moist and the frosting was creamy and sweet and I’m not a huge frosting fan and usually eat around it.
I look forward to trying more cupcakes in the future as well as more fun cakes for future events!

I have been here several times and have not been disappointed one bit. The cupcakes are absolutely delicious and there is always a wide variety to choose from. They are ALL beautifuly decorated and the presentation is always great. They are a great size and are so moist and delicious it is my new go to spot when going to a friends house for dinner. Cannot say enough about this great new business and i highly recommend it.

Wonderful cupcakes! I always stop in to pick up a few cupcakes when visiting family and friends. I am the most welcome guest when I bring these treats. I have also ordered several cakes from Brittni, they are alway beautifully decorated and delicious.

Very dry cupcake. For a new business, I would have high expectations. The cupcake did taste good, but I felt like it was the weekends left over. Nice and clean inside
