Valvoline Instant Oil Change

This is my other spot where I feel good about letting my car get work done. The service is friendly and professional, they get the job done right, and the price is wallet-​friendly, too. Now of course, we are taking into consideration that I know jack-​squat about car mechanics and depending on your level of feminism, I am a girl. These two things generally put me on a disadvantage when it comes car related things, but the guys here appear to be genuine and honest and trustworthy. They always explain everything to me, and when I tell them I have no clue what they’re talking about, they break it down. If you need an oil change, want your car checked out before a road trip, etc, then this is a good spot.

Took me right in. Its a drive in. You must stay in your vehicle. Very nice took my Unilocal code for $ 10 off. Would try again. Take turn at traffic light and enter rear of building. Good luck.

I regularly go to this Valvoline and consistently receive excellent service! I am not bothered by the «up sell» because I understand this is part of their training and they are expected to suggest additional products.
The employees are always very nice and I love that I can stop in between oil changes to have them add oil and top off other fluids.
I was prompted to finally write a review because of my experience this morning — When I turned on my car this freezing cold morning there was a message to check my coolant. Luckily I live close to this location so pulled in for them to check my coolant. I fully expected to pay for them to add coolant (especially because my last oil change was not from Valvoline and was clearly evident from the window sticker!)
The employee added coolant, had me turn on my car and heat, and then checked it again and added some more. When I asked what I owed he said, «Don’t worry about it just have a nice day!» How great was that???

I go to Valvoline because they perform a basic oil change that I don’t have to make an appointment for. My usual car-​service spot requires an appointment; it’s nice to be able to include «get oil changed» as part of around-​town errands. There is rarely a line at the Warwick Ave location, and you’ll be in and out within 10 minutes.
Go there once and leave your address, they’ll pepper your mailbox with $ 10 off coupons every week or so. Use them for all your vehicles then give the extra to friends. Wait, isn’t that what they want me to do?
The downside is that they attempt to up-​sell you on just about everything else for your car. «Your air filter is dirty, we can change it for you», «Your wipers are cracked, we can change them for you», «Your left brake light is out, we can change that for you» … and I have to tell them every time, «No, thank you» — because I do all that myself. They should note on the account that I don’t need or want the extra services.
Aside from that, a good experience.

Went in on a Friday night about 5:30 and they took me right in. They were finishing up another car in the other bay, and as soon as I Pulled in they started checking my lights, blinkers, all that stuff. As one kid got under the hood the other started explaining my options. He was bent on selling me the top grade oil change but I opted for the cheapest. Kept explaining how synthetic is best and there are detergents to clean the engine. That is wonderful, but I only can afford the low end change today. Sorry. Anyways, I then asked that the kid under the hood NOT remove the air filter since mine is difficult to put back, but I was told it is «policy». I understand you want to make more money off me, but it won’t be worth it when you can’t put it back. Of course he takes it out, I decline, and he can’t put it back. So the change is complete, they top off my washer fluid and coolant (suggesting a coolant flush, which I say I will have to come back for). Now about 20 minutes has gone by, and the kid under the hood still is having trouble, and the other kid goes over to see what is up. Some mumbling and banging around and it suddenly is put back. Or so I thought. I didn’t have a good feeling, so I popped the hood again, got out (against the advisory that it is against company policy), and saw they just plopped all the parts where the air filter should go and closed the hood! Not the end of the world, but if that engine blows because of that, it’s the end of my world. No car means no job, and before you know it I will be reviewing homeless shelters. I put it back together correctly and asked why they wouldn’t just ask me to help? Nothing, not even a sorry. Just opened the garage door for me. They do good work and for a reasonable price, and I will probably return to Valvoline Instant Oil Change, just not this one.
