To say I love it — is not enough!!!
Beautiful place, great neighborhood, amazing staff, super comfortable. I moved in here about 6 month ago, and I am in love. Everything is next to me, grocery stores, cvs, gym, restaurants, public transportation… The management of the building doing a great job, always on top! You have a problem they are always there to help. 5 stars to every person working at 14W!

This past weekend I got off the elevator and was greeted by a nice pile of vomit on the floor with an empty beer bottle next to it. I can’t call the police, or even building security, on something like that because I have no idea who did it.
If my next door neighbors are being extremely loud in their apartment, then that at least offers me a chance of talking to them and, if nothing changes, reporting them as management recommends. But that’s not the case. I have no idea whose guests are loudly roaming the hallways Friday and Saturday nights, nor do I want to know. It’s frankly not my duty to police every group of inconsiderate guests that enters the building.
I don’t think there’s anything the management can really do at this point, either. Everyone’s lease prohibits loud and obnoxious guests, but outside of having cameras in the hallways or a hall monitor on Friday and Saturday nights (neither of which are reasonable), there’s almost no way to enforce it when they’re in common areas.

Summary: Living here (almost 6 months now) has been like living in a dorm. Maybe I just live on the party floor, but it’s ridiculous. Some neighbors got really out of hand for a little while, and management, to their credit, took charge and things have definitely improved. But we have issues every single weekend with random drunken guests in the hallways, yelling and smoking late into the night.
Pros: Subtract the childish guests roaming the halls and it’s a pretty nice place. The management is very responsive. Deanna in particular is great. The appliances are very nice. The residents have been genuinely nice for the most part. The club room is amazing — I want to lock everyone out and just live in there. The location is hard to beat. Two blocks from the metro, within easy walking distance of so many things. I walk to everything, including work. The cost for the parking garage is not as much as some other places, and for the luxury the price is more affordable than similar places in the area.
Cons: Most of the people here are great, but a significant number of the residents have completely ruined the experience of living here. The walls are not thin (I’ve never had a problem with my immediate neighbors), but sounds resonate through the hallways and under the doors. The sounds I’m thinking of are usually drunk 22 year old girls standing outside my door who have no idea where they are and no sense of how loud they’re talking. Music got really out of hand for awhile but management handled that well. But literally every weekend it’s been something new. Just tonight 3 drunk people mistakenly knocked on my door after 11pm. I’m really fed up.
Random fire alarms seem to go off about 2 – 3 times a month these days. Sometimes more often. And when they do go off, it is often pretty late or pretty early. They are usually caused by false alarms from the commercial spaces on the first floor, but they affect us all.
I will add that our apartment seems to be somewhat unfortunately located for the partying problems. We are apparently on the rowdiest floor and close to the noisiest offenders. But we aren’t directly next to them — I would feel sorry for the poor souls who are, but they all moved out a couple months ago. Quite understandably.
As far as the actual apartment, the paint on the walls is unbelievably cheap. If you even rub against a wall, the paint starts to rub off. It’s just weird that some of the things are really nice (like the appliances and the plumbing) and some of the things are really cheap (the the drywall and the paint).
Our floor plan is very awkward and there is very little cabinet space. Our kitchen only has two small drawers. But there are many different floor plans so maybe the others aren’t as bad. A minor thing, but the window shades barely block the sun at all. They are mostly useless. Cell phone reception is god awful in the building (I have Verizon).
As I wrap this up, I sit enjoying the shrill yelling of a drunk girl somewhere in the hallway. I can’t wait to get out of here.

I’ve lived at 14W since mid-​March 2014. It has been great. I couldn’t have asked for more. At any past property where I’ve rented, I had low expectations and just hoped the management didn’t cause headaches for me or lie to me. The leasing office and management at 14W has been amazing. They set a high bar for any place I might live in the future. While other properties are nice to get you to sign the lease, then blow you off, the 14W team is not putting on a show. They are genuinely helpful and nice. They have gone above and beyond my expectations, and are very easy to work with. Maintenance is great so far too. Very prompt and helpful.
14W even went waaaay out of there way to put in a charging station for my electric car! I was there first to ask them about it, so they didn’t have plans for it initially. Having charging access was a necessity for me to move in here, and they worked aggressively to get it done so I could feel comfortable signing the lease. The assistant community manager even let me use her own parking space to have access to a wall outlet while awaiting the installation of the higher power hookup. Deanna rocks!
I agree with other reviews about the sense of community and the great location. My neighbors were nice about it when my music was carrying through the wall too much. We exchanged numbers and agreed to let the other know if there was a problem. Great access to pharmacy, multiple grocery stores, tons of food options, and easy routes to the whole city.
I also love all the sunlight in my apartment. I moved from Arizona, so I didn’t want a dark depressing place. The tradeoff is that there’s more road noise from the street below, but it’s as expected for the location in the city. It hasn’t been a disruption for me. The community fitness center has been totally sufficient so far for me, and eventually I’ll join the YMCA on the ground floor.
Verizon mobile reception has only been an issue in the community business center and less-​so in the lounge. Otherwise it’s been much better than my experience at other friend’s buildings in this same neighborhood. I get full bars in my apartment and the lobby. They don’t get any reception in their lobbies, and weak in their own homes and even weak on the roof. I miss calls in the elevators and garage, but that’s expected.
Our roof is huge compared to other properties I toured. Busy on weekends as expected. There’s been a few rebels ignoring the smoking ban, but most people are respectful of others.
That’s more than I planned to write, but honestly, this is the first place that hasn’t been a let-​down after moving in. No place is perfect, but this has been a great experience so far, and I always feel good arriving home.

very up and coming! nice gym and social lounge. went to a nice opening event + tour. friendly staff. reception just dies in the lobby though…
