I was in a bind and needed to get my roots done ASAP. This was the only salon that could fit me in on short notice and I was very pleased with the result! Helpful and polite staff. My stylist didn’t try to push any style on me and listened to what I wanted. I was just going home afterwards so I didn’t need a blowout, which they totally understood – a lot of other salons act judge-y when you don’t want to shell out $ 30+ for a blowdry. Highly recommend and will definitely go back.

I was a very loyal customer and had been going here for a haircut for 6 years. Per usual, I went here for a haircut and a blow out and mentioned that I was attending a wedding after the cut and they charged me an additional $ 70. And my hair looked awful. I am disappointed that this is how they treat their regular customers and will not be going back.

Adrienne is who you want to go to for a great wax. She is very good and makes it as pain-free as possible. Great listener and fun to talk to.

This is the ONLY place that I will let cut my hair. Mindy is an absolute rock star. She knows what she is doing, listens to what you want, and will not steer you wrong. Just trust her and your cut/style will be amazing. The place can sometimes be a little chaotic but the staff will 100% take care of you despite being busy. I don’t know what the folks leaving bad reviews are expecting but I am not offended by quick and courteous service; I am not there to take up their day talking, I am there for a hair cut and they are nice enough to serve as wait staff while doing the rest of their duties as well. How much time would you spend chatting up folks if you had to get them coffee and stay on a tight schedule? A salon cannot afford to run behind like a doctors office does, making folks wait. I have never been made to feel like my time didn’t matter, so kudos to these good folks for their hard work with a smile. I have not had any of the nail, wax, or massage services at this salon so I cannot speak to any of them.

I’ve been going here for years since I’ve always worked close by. Beyond being obsessed with the exposed brick/ambiance, the staff is always great about providing superb customer service. I’ve gotten facials here, which have always been solid. However, even more amazing than their facials are the haircuts! Especially with Ken! The man is an absolute master with the scissors! Best haircut I’ve ever gotten in my life(and I’ve been to my share of salons)!!! Ken is attentive and respectful of a client’s wishes(I have long hair and I’m super particular about keeping the length)! He’s absolutely awesome! You won’t regret going to him!

Needed a haircut terribly and last minute, so I gave this place a shot since it’s so close. Stephanie was fantastic. I’ve said so many times that I don’t want my hair cut too short, just enough to get the bad stuff off, but this is probably the first time someone actually listened! It was a great haircut, lots of layers just how I asked for, and it’s still a good length. She was also very nice and chatted with me, but didn’t push to be my new best friend, which I appreciated. The blowout was amazing too — I’ll definitely be going back for cuts and blowouts.

I love this salon. Andre and his team treat you like a celebrity as soon as you walk in the door. They offer you a free latte, soda, or water and cookies, have you put on a luxurious green robe. The cut is unparallelled. Andre is truly one of the most talented stylists I have ever visited. He does such a good job, that I only have to go back twice a year! To me, that’s well worth the high price tag. I have thick hair, so the last step requires him enlisting 3 different people to dry my hair simultaneously. I’ve never felt so important in a salon! Those of you griping about the price, there’s a reason it’s listed at «$$$.» It’s on K St! I pay $ 110 with tip for an amazing haircut. Thank you, Andre!

Referred by my hotel while in DC for business for mani/pedi on a Sunday. Nice tech but for $ 80 before tip I’d expect not to leave with a bleeding toe, and a dirty dreary pedicure area with dirty looking jet tub chairs: very disappointed and concerned since the upstairs did not seem clean and I realized after leaving I was bleeding. Not recommended. The star is for the tech who was prompt and friendly — I think the place is just really mediocre and it shows in many ways.

I’ve been going to Andre for years! Great color, great cuts, great styling, amazing blow outs! I get complimented on my hair pretty frequently and I think the price is worth it. I also had my wedding make-up and hair done here– Rodney is a genius! I can see why they’re top-rated on WeddingWire. The airbrush make-up stayed on all day and my hair was unbelievable. I’ve never been to their spa, so my review is strictly for hair and make-up.

Wax Queen, Adrienne, is DC’s best kept secret– She is the best! I needed a last minute appt on a Friday! I love the interior of the Chreky salon and the locale is perfect on K street — the circulator stops right in front, so thought I would take a chance. The front desk was very nice and fit me in to see Adrienne for a Brazilian. She is tiny, energetic and very easy to talk to — esp when it comes to talking about wax preferences. She is a true professional and offered lots of great advice and made me feel immediately comfortable. I had the best Brazilian wax ever and will be going here from now on(hope Fridays don’t book all the way up). Adrienne immediately put me at ease, told me not to get shy on her as she has done literally thousands of wax jobs and presto, she was done in a matter of minutes. Seriously NOPAIN — NOBUMPS — really an excellent job. It might not always be as easy as this but she is very thorough and fast with great results!

After reading the reviews below, it is apparent that many people walked blindly into the salon without setting their expectations. If you want the cheapest hair cut in town, you will be disappointed. If you want an incredible hair cut and are willing to pay, this is your spot. Andre, the salon owner, will give you a better hair cut than anyone else in the city. He spends time on the cut and always asks the client for direction before he starts. However, I recommend following his advice on length and shape around your face. Carla does my highlights and they are always perfection. Blonde’s: you will feel like an all-natural bombshell! They are able to fit you in their schedule with very short notice and open early on weekdays. You can even fit in an appointment before work. Cut and color are the two most important things to me when I choose my salon, and Andre Chreky far exceeds everywhere else I have gone. You will be amazed how many people compliment you and ask where you got your hair done!

NEVERBEENHAPPIER!!! I needed a cut really bad, after all the coloring its been through. Kin did wonders to my hair! He really gave me what I wanted and so much more. Would highly recommend getting a cut from him! I think i found my favorite new hair stylist! Will definitely be booking future appointments here with him.

This place is good — albeit a bit expensive, but i’ve always consistently gotten a great haircut whenever i’ve gone here. There are a couple places around Laurel that I like, but i always prefer going to Andre Chreky and getting my haircut by Kin because i’ve always been really happy with his results. He’s consistently given me a good cut whether i’ve given him specific instructions or had him do something on his own. I haven’t really had experience with any of the other stylists, because I hate change and I’ve usually never been 100% satisfied with a lot of my haircuts. When I like something I tend to stick with it, and Kin has done a great job with me so far, so this review is mostly based on his service.

I go here when I get fed up with having bad haircuts or strange experiences elsewhere as I ALWAYS get a good hair cut here(Rodney is awesome) and have been going there off and on for over 15 years due to the generally friendly and professional services! I always call at the last minute and can generally get a mid-afternoon weekday appointment. I also got my nails done too by the amazing Josephine. It’s true it’s pricey but it’s worth it. There’s a parking lot across the street(also pricey but who wants a ticket?).

This place is pretty good, but extremely expensive. A haircut is going to set you back upwards of $ 100. Add any coloring or treatments and it can quickly top the $ 250 mark. Products are expensive. Waxing is expensive. That being said, if money isn’t an issue, I would recommend the salon. It’s very clean. Staff is courteous and friendly. The waiting area is comfortable. The bathrooms are clean and available to customers. I come here for facials – usually when there’s a special – and am always very satisfied.

Went here for a group pedi/mani party… parking is pretty much non-existent in this area, prices are sky high but they were able to accommodate a large party with reservations. Pedicure was way over priced at $ 55(mani was $ 25) and it was nothing special! I thought they made a mistake when I went to pay, but their prices were just ridiculously high! Never going back there again!

Yesterday morning, I Got Chreky. At least, I think I did. I don’t really know what that means. I had a Living Social deal to use, and I’d been unhappy with my hair for a few months, so I figured I’d make an appointment and try something new. I was scheduled to see Nancy. I didn’t know anything about her — or the other stylists — since I’d never been there. But, that’s who the cute receptionist put me down with. The receptionist showed me upstairs, and told me to change into a smock in this tiny room. Ummm … am I supposed to take my shirt off and just wear the smock?! What is the etiquette? Seriously, there should have been a sign with instructions. I am not fancy pants; I don’t know how to behave in nice places. I decided to go with the smock over my sweater, then realized as I walked out and Nancy put another cape on me, that that was probably wrong. Ah well. Nancy seemed nice. She was quiet, which is OK by me. She immediately led me to the washing station — without really talking to me about anything. She knew I wanted a haircut, but that was all she knew. Before I sat in the chair, I tried to talk to her about what I wanted — and even whipped out my phone to show her a picture — but I think she had already made up her mind. She kind of described what she was going to do, sat me down and started washing.(Also — isn’t there just something absolutely fabulous about getting your hair washed? Man, when I’m obnoxiously rich, I will hire someone to wash my hair.) When we got down to the cutting, the quiet continued. It was early, so I guess maybe she was just sleepy. I’m not a huge conversationalist, but total silence is a little awkward. When the cut was done, Nancy took the time to totally blow dry my hair — and dry it so it was straight! My hair is ridiculously thick and kind of wavy, so that’s no small task. However, the end result was a little too poofy for my tastes. Apparently, stylists look at me and see«bob» — with my hair curling under. I don’t know if I just look like a normal, boring girl. Or if I keep going to conservative stylists without meaning to. But, it happens a lot. Bob. Poofed out. Curled under. Maybe I need to wear goth attire next time I go to a stylist. I got home, played with it and ended up liking it more. It can be funked up a little, so that makes me happy. The overall experience was fine. But, I didn’t really end up with what I wanted. I like the cut, and it’ll work until I need another one, but I don’t LOVE it. Will I be back? I’m not sure. I think I’ll keep trying salons before settling on something I think is just«fine.»

I got the Groupon, so I went in for a brow wax & manicure. At first I was nervous/annoyed about having to provide a credit card to hold my appointment(they charge if you cancel at the last minute). Eyebrow wax was the best ever. I saw Liz, and she really took her time to look at my face, tell me where to grow out my brows, and worked with what I had to make them look good. Will definitely go back. The manicure lasted a week without chipping. Great job.

Andre Chreky is what I would consider an «upscale salon». I normally don’t go to «upscale salons» but as it was my 10 year HS reunion, I decided to give it a shot and treat myself. I was so excited for my first«upscale salon» experiece. Upon arrival for my appointment, I was very surprised that they didn’t offer me a drink while I waited. My stylist was over 30 mins late in getting to me. He had a shampoo assistant start by washing my hair, which was done in a blink of an eye. It was obvious they were rushing. The stylist finally came over to me and apologized for taking so long to get to me. I was annoyed but tried to brush it off. He then proceeded to cut my hair so quickly that he was literally done in about 10 mins(again he was obviously rushing). He then had someone else come blow dry my hair. The cut, was AVERAGE at best. The price of my total experience was almost 100 bucks. I felt so jipped, so I decided to complain to the front desk. I explained that this was not what I would expect from an «upscale salon» and that I was truly disappointed in my experience. I was not harsh, I was very nice. However they could’ve cared less. The fact that they didn’t offer to discount my service, or offer me some kinda compensation, didn’t sit well with me which is why I wouldn’t recommend this salon to anyone. Its one thing to have a bad experience somewhere and have the staff be attentive to your complaints, but to just brush it off made me feel like I wasn’t important enough to listen to. Bottom Line– Basically this is an over– pretentious, over priced salon. You could go elsewhere, get treated better and receive better service.
