Arthur’s is a Columbia Heights institution. It’s small and family run, which is why the men who work there have such integrity and are true to any suggestion they make, as well as honor any returns. The staff is friendly and helpful and they offer competitive pricing on all of their products. There is no such thing as a mark-up here. $ 5 credit card minimum is reasonable as most credit card companies really strangle small boutiques with their fees and make it hard to run a profitable business.

$ 1.50 ice cream cone!!! Compare this to $ 2.69 for Baskin Robbins. They also have beer and wine and are right across from Wonderland Ballroom. This is my new favorite corner store.

Being from Philadelphia I have experienced my fair share of corner stores and they are all very different, Arthur is no exception. The selection of snacks is pretty good and they do sell liters of soda. Funny enough though is that they have Giant Brand soda which points to the fact that they stock some of their products directly from the grocery store. They also sell lottery tickets here which is a plus. I didn’t explore too much more but if I am in the area and need to buy some snacks, soda, or juice I will certainly remember this place. There is a $ 5 minimum on credit cards just FYI.
