Okay food. Nothing to write home about. I had tofu Thai curry red. I’ve had better elsewhere. Service was good. Food was inexpensive. I wouldn’t make a point of going here, but if you’re in the area and stop by, it’ll be okay.

The food is serviceable at best! not authentic. On top of that they automatically charge 18% service charge(from total bill, not pretax). This is outrageous!!!

Bambu used to be our favorite go to restaurant in the DC area. We have gone 20 times over the years. We went today and pretty much everything was horrible. We were going to send many of the dishes back but we only complained about a few. We are so sad that this restaurant has deteriorated so much.

I decided to give this place another chance because the food really is good and with the exception to my first experience the place does look clean. I haven’t seen the other guy recently, and there seems to be some new staff and a few of them are pretty friendly. The restaurant also updated their specials, so I will have to try the new selections. Saki is still a bit expensive by the bottle, but the place is making some good changes.

I ordered food today, when my food arrived it was cold, i didn’t receive all my items to go with my food, and then the California rolls had what looked like mold on the avocado. I order all the time from Bamboo and i was very disappointed this time with the service.

Bambu is our neighborhood go to for takeout. The food is good, the menu offers lots of options, the staff is friendly and the food is prepared quickly(usually ready for pick up 10 – 15 mins after you call.) I like the sashimi entrees, the green curry, and the moo shu pork.

Stopped in here last night for the first time. I was so impressed! We were seated immediately. The décor was beautiful — there is a wall and multiple chandelier-esque lights meant to look like rice paper(at least, that’s what it seems like they were going for). The usage of light wood is extremely nice, and gives the place a very modern, refined looked. The lighting was dim and created a great atmosphere. As soon as we were seated, a waitress came up to take our drink orders. She was extremely polite and friendly. Our drinks came out almost immediately, and we were given a good amount of time to order. We ordered the Hot and Sour Soup to start. It came out within five minutes, and it was DELICIOUS! Definitely ranks in, like, the top two for hot and sour soups in the DC area. For an entrée, we ordered sushi. What impressed me the most was they give you the choice of substituting brown rice for white rice for the cheap price of .50 cents, which is a huge plus for the health conscious. Bambu is actually one of two sushi restaurants I’ve ever been to that advertise this option. They also give you the option of adding«spicy» or «crunchy» to any roll for the same price of .50. Definite plus. We ordered the Spicy Salmon Roll, the Crunchy Tuna Roll, the MacArthur Roll(fresh crab, avocado, and tobiko), all made with brown rice, and a custom roll, made with shrimp tempura, cream cheese, and avocado. The sushi came out quickly, and was given to us on a chic wooden platter with a hefty portion of ginger and wasabi. The presentation was beautiful — simple and modern. The rolls were all AMAZING! The brown rice made me feel a little less guilty for splurging on sushi(I know there’s not much of a difference, but still). The flavors were delicate and the sushi itself was incredibly filling. Not to mention, the price! It’s more than fair for the quality/portions that you are paying for. An appetizer and four sushi rolls, with add ons, came out to about $ 28. Definitely not bad as far as truly good sushi restaurants go. Needless to say, we were very impressed by Bambu and will definitely be back for more soon!

Good food, the people are super nice and I defiantly recommend the hot and sour soup, Its a personal favorite! It’s a great place to take kids for a nice lunch/dinner and if you live in the area, you’ll probably run into someone you know.

In regards to Thai food take-out, this place is simply average. Nothing special. The Pad Thai & Yellow Curry are not necessarily bad, however they just don’t live up to true Thai potential. Typically, once I start eating amazing Thai food, I can’t stop. It’s like crack, metaphorically speaking. If I was a crack addict, this place would be «eh, it gets the job done, but I want MORE baby!» I’m not sure about their Indian or Japanese food, but if you want absolutely delectable Thai cuisine, keep on looking.

I don’t think I’ve had the sushi… maybe I have but I don’t remember. Anyway, I’ve been coming here occasionally for a long time. Hadn’t been for a while but stopped for carryout on the way home from the cube farm last night. Had Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, Thai Fried Rice and some appetizers. Everything was very good. Great Pad See Ew. The pad thai was solid — certainly not the best I’ve ever had but I’ve had a hell of a lot worse. Good overall. The Thai Fried Rice was good but WAY heavy on the basil — that is all it tasted like and basil isn’t my most favorite spice ever. I’d order it again but would ask them to hold a good majority of the basil. Way overdone.

I went here for a late lunch after a nearby appointment and not only was the food delicious, but the service was also top notch. The french martini was delicious — great version of the classic, with a hint of pineapple. I ordered the lunch bento box with shrimp tempura(shrimp tempura, salad, hot and sour soup, california roll, and fried rice) all reasonably priced at $ 15. I wish I would have upgraded to the fresh crab meat in the california roll, but everything was fresh. The shrimp had a nice crunch batter instead of the standard fried batter I have seen so many other places. I also really enjoyed the ginger dressing on the salad which was fresh ginger instead of the orange dressing I usually come across at sushi restaurants(which I also like though)! If I am in the area again I will definitely stop back.

Washington DC. We had dinner here on the way to GWU Lisner Auditorium. A small and informal pan asian place. Very good food and service. For a light dinner for two, ordered only a crispy fish appetizer and entry size tom yum soup. The fish came with a very nice lemongrass salad and was absolutely delicious. The tom yum soup was very good too but could have had some lemongrass taste that is usual. We’re in a hurry but I am sure they would have accommodated us by bringing some on the side. Very good size portions. An excellent find. Will surely return.

Bambu is a great little neighborhood place that friends are happy to travel to from farther afield, it’s that good. Very unpretentious, the service is usually good and the food is invariably fresh and tasty. Good lunch special offers plenty of choice. The waiters often remember what you like(I’ve gone several times over the years, and apparently I’m the only one who orders Tom Yum soup with no squid.) I love their avocado salad and mango sticky rice. It’s a really solid, low key and friendly place for a meal.

Food is super delicious and prices are absolutely okay! Best place to eat around palisades I would say! Enjoy the fortune cookies! Hahah has the same fortune every time I went! Maybe it’s a sign? Or most of the cookies say«you will have a pleasant trip». try it out ;D

We Ordered *Seafood Delight– scallop is over cooked seafood itself is NOTFRESH *String beans Pork Bento– its so greasy. Salad is not chop its like they only threw so in my plate out of the packet. California roll the avocado is turning brown its suppose to be green *fried rice is okay And I don’t like how the server kept rushing US and not being friendly, she don’t know how to say«EXCUSEME» when she’s passing out the food and saying«Thank you» and charge us for a $ 10.95 tip. I would will never ever coming back to this place. Food sucks People sucks!

I cannot bring myself to go back to this place for public health reasons. I thought the food was great, but the staff can be very inattentive. Still, it was a local place for me, so I kept going back. And then one day I witnessed a male employee sneeze in his hands and not wash them afterward! Gross! He started to touch everything! The fortune cookies, take out meals, etc. I said something to the manager and he asked the guy to get some gloves on, NOT to wash his hands. The manager did not have anything to really say about it. I would have been embarrased if I were him. The guy who did the act looked at me like I was crazy! Like I rat’ed him out or something. Whenever I think about ordering from this place, I picture yellow snoot on my food. Not a pleasant thought! Also, the parking situation is terrible.

Since the other restaurant was closed that day and we were hungry for sushi we decided to check it out. Of the years we lived in the neighborhood we did not visit Bambu. Once I read the menu I gathered it was more of a Thai restaurant with other Asian dishes and sushi. The restaurant was modern there were two bars(one for drink and other for sushi). A Caucasian man walked up to me from the bar and he was very friendly asked me what I would like to order. He helped me through the menu and found the sushi rolls I wanted. I also ordered a chirashi. The chirashi was reasonably priced and it had two uni! How awesome. Other than a restaurant near dupont that included uni in their chirashi, this was the second one I had come across. The other sashimi fish were also good. The only thing I did not like was the rice it probably was not the best grade — it was harder than usual and not sufficiently seasoned. The chirashi also lacked some pickled vegetables but they made up with a generous portion of seaweed salad. It was a satisfying meal with the right elements! I would go back again.

Bambu is a great neighborhood option with consistent food and service, I especially like the Pad Thai and sushi specials. They also deliver quickly which is really convenient in an area with few decent delivery options.

I use to come here all the time when I went to American University. I can’t say that I can recall a bad meal here. Service at times has been slow, but never rude. Probably not your first choice in Palisades for good food, but you can’t beat yummy food at a great price.

Bambu is my go-to for Asian foods of all kinds. It’s not exactly a fancy night out kind of place, but my boyfriend and I frequent Bambu for a casual dinner and also take out(they even deliver!). Their menu includes a great selection of sushi, nigiri, soups/salads, Thai, Chinese, and noodle dishes. Their sushi is always fresh, consistent, and very tasty! Plus, it’s a great value. I recommend the ‘Hot Mama’ roll– spicy tuna with fresh jalapeño in it. My absolute favorite Thai noodle dish in the world(and I actually don’t really like Thai food) is Pad Se Eu from Bambu. I don’t know how I randomly decided to order it one evening, but now I am Pad Se Eu regular and highly recommend you try it(I get it with Chicken most of the time, but the pork and beef are also both great). The service is always quick and the staff is very friendly. If you haven’t tried Bambu and you’re thinking about it… do it!

I’ve lived near Bambu for about two years, and between this and Chen’s Gourmet, they have me covered for all of my take out needs. Is Bambu the kind of place I would drag my friends out to the Palisades to try? No, probably not. But for takeout in under 20 minutes, I can’t complain. I’ve had the sushi and thai and have never been disappointed. The panag curry has been my go to more recently. No, it probably isn’t super authentic, but it definitely hits the spot. The once time I ate in the restaurant, I had a pleasant experience overall. Their lunch boxes are a good deal. If you find yourself in the area looking for some decent food, give Bambu a shot. They’ve been a reliable source for week-night take out for a number of years, and for that, I love them.

Fancy-looking pan-Asian place on a street corner in Palisades. They have parking; only a few spaces but they’re one of the few restaurants to have any at all if you’re trying to avoid DC parking zones during your meal. A large, ostentatious bar and an open kitchen, ambiance is a plus. Some decent vegetarian selections, but a lot of their menu isn’t. Prices not as cheap as Chen’s next door, but reasonable given the neighborhood, the portions, and the overall experience. Like most pan-Asian places, none of the dishes I’ve had were great, but if you’re in the neighborhood and have a need, it’ll do.

Four stars for sushi The men’s restroom is nasty Avoid at all costs Given the prices on everything in D.C., this place is a nice, affordable option for sushi. They also have Thai and Chinese cuisine. The pot stickers we had for appetizers were maybe the best I have ever had. Order your sushi on the checklist that they give you. Got two orders of nigiri salmon and unagi, the spicy crab and Alska rolls, and the specialty Rainbow and Dragon Rolls. All were fresh and tasty. Chased down with two Sapporo bombers. Knocking my rating down to three from the four that I otherwise would have given it based on the deplorable state of the bathrooms. The floor was filthy, sticky and littered. Had to pry each foot off of the floor with each step. Fingers-crossed that the kitchen was much more sanitary. No ill effects 24 hours after.
