They’re pizzas are good. The crust is specially tasty and crunchy. The service is friendly and the place is open and spacious. The value could be better.

Waited 25 minutes to get our drink orders taken, waited even longer to receive the drinks, appetizers came out at the same time as the entrée, entrees were not played well and were lukewarm at best. Had to ask for silverware for the table. Never got our drinks refilled. Food was just generally not good at all. Bill was messed up twice at the end of the night. We were here for almost two hours. Avoid this place.

I went into Bertucci’s this evening for dinner; a nice little hostess put me at a table, gave me a menu, and assured me that a server would be right with me. I read the menu from cover to cover, decided on what I’d like to eat, and waited for the server to arrive. And waited for the server to arrive. And waited for the server to arrive. I was sitting 20 feet from the hostess station, in clear view of it. There was always at least one and frequently as many as six servers clustered around the hostess station, chitty-chatting about this and that; one or two would leave and then return a minute or two later. The hostess and the servers knew I was at the table, waiting for someone to come take my order; one or another would look over at me idly and then go back to flapping their lips. I had been there between 5 and 10 minutes before I decided to time how long it took for a server to come over; after another 6 minutes of watching the servers gossip, I got fed up, asked for a manager, told her off, and stomped out as she gabbled. If you just want to get out of the weather, Bertucci’s will keep the rain off. If you’re interested in actually eating something, I recommend Circa at Foggy Bottom, a block or two down I Street. Good food and excellent service. Unlike Bertucci’s.

1.5 because their food is actually decent. The salad, bread, and pizza is good. I recommend ordering carry out, and call ahead. Do NOT sit and wait to get serviced. It was a Saturday around 6:30 p.m. when we came in, there were like 3 wine & painting events going on, and no one seemed to be serving any tables. Although it was busy, it wasn’t way to crowded. Our friend had made reservations and did a call-ahead. The food was supposed to be ready and then the waitress came back and said because our party wasn’t all here, they threw away the food. I’m very skeptical about that whole thing. Our waitress also never came to us on her own. I actually noticed this from other tables looking around. Their carry-out service was super busy so I’m assuming other people knew what I know now.

Came here on a whim with my girlfriend. The pizza was Okay/fairly satisfying. However, the service and dessert was abysmal. Our waitress took forever at each step: arriving to take our order, following up to ask how our food was, etc. We ended up waiting for ~30 minutes to receive the bill. The restaurant was almost empty and there was no reason for us being totally ignored. But that’s not the worst part. We ordered the brownie sundae for dessert. Big mistake. It tasted like it was flavored with onion or zuchinni or some weird vegetable. Totally disgusting. Our waitress didn’t ask us how our food was or why he hadn’t touched the desert or even make eye contact, and fled before we could even say anything or look at her. After waiting so long to receive the check we just left and moved on. AVOID.

I got married across the streeet at The Arts Club of Washington so this seemed like a very convenient, affordable place to host a large group of people for the rehearsal dinner. I called a week ahead to make the reservation and they were so nice and accommodating. We showed up over an hour late to our reservation and the manager was nothing but amazing! When my now husband and I arrived, the manager took us aside and asked us exactly what we wanted and literally started to take his shirt off(sounds weird but it was hilarious-especially given how stressed out we were coming from our rehearsal which was kind of a disaster and took forever to get through) to tell us that he would«give us the shirt off his back» to make us happy. He recommended what we should order and we just went with it. We ordered family-style salads for the table and they kept refilling them as we waited on our pizzas, which didn’t take very long at all. Our waiters were so amazing and really made the atmosphere light and fun! Everyone enjoyed the pizza, although my only complaint would be that they placed them out on trays with nothing to keep them warm so they got cold. Other than that though we had a great time at our dinner and everyone enjoyed themselves.

I enjoy the lunch specials. If your in the down town area located near this place they do have lunch cards. Get 5 meals the 6th one is free. Rolls with vinaigrette, salad and your main dish. I usually sit upstairs, the bartender is excellent. I’ve sat down stairs a few times with larger parties with so so hit and miss service but the experience is much better upstairs. I’m hooked on their chicken fettuccini

The Garlic Knots are really more like Garlic Pellets We ordered the Margherita Pizza and added Pepperoni and the Bruschetta pizza and the Bruschetta arrived at room temperature bordering on cold. Server was trite and spilled my dad’s coffee all over the saucer she brought it on and gave it to him and said she would be back with more coffee and napkins and that didn’t happen. The pizza(despite the cold temperature) wasn’t bad, but, wasn’t really anything to write home about. I can see why this place may appeal to GW students, pizza came out quickly and they have a large menu.

Decent but certainly not the restaurant that it was years ago. As a long time Washingtonian, I used to love Bertucci’s. On this trip back to the District, I decided to try this old haunt for nostalgia’s sake. I sat in the bar, and although the place was a bit dirty, the service was fine. The server was kind, friendly and efficient. At the request of the server, I ordered the Caprese salad. It was quite delicious as you can tell by the photo. But frankly, this restaurant is best known for their bread(rolls). They used to be so incredible that I was looking forward to trying them again. What they brought to the table was cold, dry and unpleasant. Total fair. Kinda ruined the whole experience.

We had the spinach and artichoke dip to start, followed by the BBQ chicken pizza. We got our food to go. My husband is from the same town as the first Bertucci’s and we love it. This Bertucci’s was no different. Everything was great! We even got complimentary sourdough rolls with our order. It was great. The only thing missing: no olive in the center of our pizza!

So, I’ve been to this place twice, against my better judgement. Both times I’ve gotten pasta dishes that not only tasted bland and came straight from a freezer, but also way over priced for the quality. This most recent time I ordered the four cheese ravioli that was served with pomodoro sauce. The pomodoro seemed to just be canned diced tomatoes thrown onto the ravioli, but added some much needed flavor to the dish. There was a group of about ten of us, so we have a gratuity automatically added to the bill(we weren’t actually informed of this, or anything, but I’ve seen this done at other restaurants). It was an 18% gratuity, which to me would imply we would actually receive service. On the contrary: our waitress went missing for 20 minutes after we ordered. I was still waiting for the drink I ordered and our table hadn’t gotten any bread, even though we had been there for 40 minutes. Luckily, another waitress(who is the saving grace of this establishment and the reason why it’s getting two stars as opposed to one) came to the rescue. After she got us our bread, the food came with the original waitress. She stepped her game up a little, but it was still the bare minimum. For a plate of(unappetizing) cheese ravioli, a coke, and the gratuity, my personal total came to $ 19.87. The rest of the table spent about the same amount. I normally don’t have a problem tipping a waitress 20%, but this was just a blah experience. We were there for nearly three hours, and were some of the only customers in the restaurant, yet nearly every time someone at the table wanted something we had to either go find our waitress or wait for one of the rare occasions that she came around, in order to get anything. I thought giving the place a second chance might change my opinion of it, but it hasn’t. Bottom line– avoid this place, and go to any of the bountiful and similarly priced restaurants around Foggy Bottom.

I visited Bertucci’s for a pre-Paint Nite happy hour. Well, sort-of happy hour. When we called the day before, we were told that their happy hour included the weekends. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Bertucci’s happy hour specials sound decent, but are not available on Saturday. We got the Tuscan Chicken Wings, Caesar Salad, and Margherita Pizza. Upon attempting to order the pizza on multigrain dough we were told that it would be an extra 20 minute wait because they only had the regular dough prepared, so we settled for the regular crust. I wasn’t really impressed by any of the dishes and thought the wings were on the salty side, but the salad and pizza were alright for chain/bar food. You also get a basket of rolls with olive oil and spices, which wasn’t bad at all. Front end service was one of the better parts of the visit. Our bartender made sure that we had everything we needed and checked on us from time to time. To be fair, we were the only ones in the bar/lounge area so she didn’t have much else to do. Oh, and the other better part of the visit? Bertucci’s location. If you want dessert you can just head over to Captain Cookie right across the hall.

Well basically mediocre chain food at best, if int wasn’t that the kids were starving we would have keep looking for something better. Service was lackluster had to wait for a drink refills and reorders, it seems that they get a lot of the local university students in which it might be a place just to fill those bellys. Atmosphere was a 1980s style interior

My business often has meetings here. The bartender is pretty top-notch, if a bit timid. I always get the house wine – a sangiovese, which I love. Our boss always orders a round of menuccis and I’m always unimpressed with them, even for how cheap they are. Some slices end up just being dough and pizza sauce, and if I eat more than a slice or two, I always end up with a stomachache. I’ve had dinner here and was also unimpressed with the quality of my food. It seemed like something I could pick up in the frozen section of the supermarket. I liked their spinach and artichoke dip, though, but again… that’s kinda hard to mess up. Meh.

After a very cold, windy, and wet day in DC, all we needed was a hot meal, and Bertucci’s ended up being that place. I had a chicken sandwich that was pretty good, and my husband ate his entire pizza. My daughters each had pasta, ravioli and mac and cheese. The ravioli wasn’t much to talk about, but the mac and cheese was pretty great. The service was really good, and honestly we were just happy to be inside, eating food that didn’t make us feel like junk.

Not sure why the rating for this place is so low, the food isn’t that bad people, and neither was the service! When you first walk in is a bar area, but there are tables for seating as well, but we decided to go downstairs which was more«open». There were only us and 3 other tables in a big room. To start we got the spinach and artichoke dip, that was so good and creamy, came with some soft pita bread. Yum I got the Make Your Own Pizza. I added extra cheese and roasted button mushrooms. That was good! But I imagine had I not asked for extra cheese, it wouldnt be cheesy, as you can still see some sauce. My friend got a veggie calzone, but she said she had tried some better ones at our local take-out deli, so may not be the best place for calzones, it also is a little bit dough-y. The dessert was really good — we got the Cookie Sundae topped with ice cream to share(well, I had 98%, so may not exactly be sharing!) That was good, the cookie isn’t too thick though, not like a deep-dish, but still good with the ice cream and chocolate sauce. Service was pretty standard too, I am not sure what the other reviews are talking about. Maybe because it wasn’t too crowded?

Grad school is pretty lonely and sometimes you just want a piece of pizza or a glass of wine before a late evening class. Now I wouldn’t dine at Bertucci’s on any other occasion but when I’m on campus and hungry, this is one of my go to’s. If you sit at the bar they have incredible deals. $ 3 beers and $ 3 flatbread pizzas during HH. Sitting in the restaurant downstairs the prices aren’t as cheap but I had a fantastic waiter who brought me a huge basket of rolls all for myself and a pretty hefty glass of wine. GW Students get 15% off their bill so don’t forget to show them your ID colonials!

I stopped in three nights ago and found the bar area with dirty tables and the service less than helpful and very slow at the top speed. Second chance~ last chance. I am sitting at the bar and ordered a draught, ice water and menu. The beer is ok, the water came in a dirty glass and the menu has yet to be seen after 25 minutes. At least the bartender has managed to talk it up with the female patrons. Others are still waiting as well. The service is non-existent and one star for this place is one too many. Go elsewhere.

To those claiming terrible service… all I can say is this was NOT our experience at all! We were seated quickly and had a very attentive waitress. Being in a slight hurry, the four of us ordered from the $ 7.99 lunch menu which features sandwiches, menucci, and unlimited salad/bread. The bread/salad were served almost immediately and the entrees came out quickly. As others have noted, the bread was amazing… and served with an awesome spice-blend olive oil. I ordered the Roasted Eggplant Menucci, and it was delicious.

If you are craving some generic Italian food as some perverse alternative to suicide, this is your place. Otherwise, just go outside and walk a block in any direction and you’ll find a tastier, healthier, and more pleasant alternative. Bertucci’s is probably the most convenient place for me to grab lunch/dinner while working — too bad I find the place unappetizing. I’ve literally eaten CVS sandwiches rather than eat at Bertucci’s. First off, the food is unimpressive across the board. Bertucci’s food is Olive Garden-quality, albeit having a slightly heftier price tag. Their pizza is decent, but not amazing, and soundly trounced by the Domino’s a block away. Their ravioli dishes and similar offerings are also pretty bland. Mind you, nothing is affirmatively bad — it’s all just kind of boring in that uniquely family restaurant sort of way. As many reviews imply, Bertucci’s also has a bit of a service problem. I’ve had to stand and wait 30 minutes for a very simple take-out order — which I ordered an hour before — to be finished up. Please, please, just go somewhere else.
