Best Cuts

The older barber on the left hand side of the shop in the middle chair cut all my edges off… the lady who twisted my hair seemed nice until my hairstyle fell down after two days and I reached out to come in… she responded saying I could come in but then disappeared… it’s been over a week and she hasn’t answered my calls or responded to my text messages.
To their credit I watched other barbers cut and they were really cool and did a nice job… I don’t know how I ended up with the two worst people in the shop.

Was looking for a barber shop in DC near Archives Metro and this was a perfect find after checking out a few others off Georgia Ave. If you are looking for a fade, shape up, or even trying to get your dreads retwisted this is the spot. As soon as you walk in they make sure you are taken care of. Check out Mo if you are lookin for a fresh shape up.

The relationship with my barber at Best Cuts is the longest running relationship I have ever had with any man — 12 years.
Federico Lindo owns the shop. He only takes appointments. Other barbers take walk-​ins. Rico’s chair is the first one as you walk in. That’s important because he keeps a close eye on what’s going on and is in total control of the space. Most of the clientele is Howard students and working professionals who live nearby. There’s a woman in the back who does locs exclusively. She’s amazingly talented.
Rico is licensed and understands that cutting women’s hair is not the same as cutting dudes. And it’s not just about the hair line. My hair is thinning but Rico has trained it to be fuller by cutting it in its natural wave pattern. Previously I was brushing it against the grain which made it appear thinner. He educated me and now I regularly receive compliments on my cut.
I’ll never leave Rico. I drive 40 minutes into the city to get my hair cut and would gladly drive longer. He’s professional (rarely runs late) and lets me practice my Spanish on him (he’s from Panama). When he’s going on vacation, I always try to get in so I won’t have to suffer while he’s away.

My search for a new barber shop has finally ended after moving from Maryland. Best Cuts Barber Shop is defiantly the place to go. If you’re looking for a good fade, straight shape up, and good cut, i highly recommend Best Cuts Barber Shop. The place was booming with business at 11am on a weekday. There are about 6 – 8 barbers cutting and each one of them can cut. I’m definitely a regular now.
