Just happened to wander in on a cold winter night. The menu offers a wide arrange of food: noodles, bento boxes, and sushi. I tried the chicken katsu bento box, which came with a very salty miso soup, salad, tempura, rice, and fried gyoza(I substituted my California rolls for more gyoza). The dumplings were a little mushy, and had a mystery filling. It was too much food, but made a good second meal the next day. The food was okay, but a little underwhelming. I probably won’t be back any time soon.

I am a bit confused to start, is this place Chopsticks or Hashi? Or is Hashi and Chopsticks the same? TWINS?! Anyways. Not the point. Let me set the mood: It’s a rainy, crisp Sunday morning, I want something hot and soupy. Udon. That’s my answer. I ordered their beef udon with vegetables, and was pleasantly surprised. For $ 14, which is a bit steep in my opinion, the soup base was nice as well as the ingredients. It came with a lot of noodles, and while the udon noodles weren’t the highest quality noodles(probably frozen), it was satisfying and filled me up! I also appreciated that they had complimentary green tea(don’t forget to get that!) The servers were also very nice, overall a nice experience though the store was a bit fishy smelling when I first entered. I would gladly return again the next time I’m craving udon. Also, from other reviewers, I would not recommend getting their ramen! As a person who is really super duper picky when it comes to ramen, I would hold off on that and get udon instead, as at this establishment they don’t seem to be a specialty ramen store. Save your dollas!

Food was great but unfortunately had an unwanted visitor(cockroach) fly onto my friends should towards the end of dining experience. Don’t think I’ll be going back anytime too soon.

The food was decent and the wait staff was great. Not the nicest establishment. The worn floors and nasty bathroom bring it down a couple stars.

this is not bad. food: if you love your sushi slathered in mayonnaise sauces, this is your place(and seek counseling, you weirdo). they have actual sushi too. you probably shouldn’t get the ramen, it’s weak. the korean-style barbecue is surprisingly strong. the place itself is cute, well-lit. don’t plan on parking. they handle large groups(mine was 11) pretty well. the bathroom isn’t insulated and is akin to peeing outside in the winter. you could do worse!

Small sushi restaurant with friendly service. Their fish is fresh but portions are a little skimppy. Also a little bit on the pricey side but it’s Georgetown so I understand. Their rolls are creative and tasty. Overall not a bad spot.

Took my students from New York here while we were on a class trip. They are middle school aged and NONE had ever had sushi before. They were skeptical and some were downright opposed to going for Japanese food. Thank you for making them believers! They LOVED the tempura shrimp and squid, the dumplings, and the spicy tuna roll. By the end, they all wanted to try OCTOPUS! From novice to sushi daredevils in one meal. I know it wasn’t an easy group, but I appreciate the staff accomodating them and providing great service.

Not bad at all, though not the best. We visited this Japanese restaurant often while shopping in Georgetown. It’s a friendly, no-frills place. I have always had their bento, edamame, udon, and miso soup. All pretty OK. I have never had sushi here so can’t comment on that

Not worth the money. It wasn’t a welcoming environment and a little bit too dirty, especially for being in Georgetown. There are better sushi places in DC!

1 star for not charging me to switch from miso soup to a salad in the $ 14 dollar sushi lunch special.(Which still says $ 10 on the website!) service was also nice. Been here before. It was fine but… Never again, not worth it. there are better options, this place doesn’t seem to be trying. The sushi was so thin and the salmon had the fat vein on it, see picture. The overall texture of the fish was not normal. The California roll had this funky town not good not ripened advocacy taste to it. How do you mess up a California roll? They did. Also chipped plates too. The sticky rice pastry thing has the best thing on the plate. It could have just been an off day but I’d pass this one by. Lastly. The smell in the air didn’t help all of this either.

I’m really picky when it comes to sushi, and really only eat a certain type of roll(volcano roll) that I love from a place in Virginia Beach called Volcano Sushi. I found Chopsticks through a Google search(«volcano roll DC») but was hesitant since Chopsticks only had 3 stars on Unilocal. I went on a rainy Saturday afternoon at a an off time(3:30PM) so the place was somewhat empty. Service was friendly, fast and accommodating. I asked if they could add some eel sauce to their volcano roll, and they had no problem doing so– they even added some extra! The roll was delicious and my boyfriend said his roll was great, too! My only issue was that they didn’t have fried rice. The waiter said their Japanese fried rice wasn’t very popular, as Japanese fried rice tends to be plain, so they took it off the menu. Personally, I would have rather him said they didn’t make it, but all in all it was a good experience.

I stopped by this place after an eventful day on the Georgetown harbor and was slightly shocked at how empty the upstairs dining room was. I also want to say that getting to the upstairs dining area was quite the feat as the stairs are narrow and short. But once we were seated I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed my meal. I’m not a big sushi fan but the California roll was as good as it is at any place. I also had the teriyaki chicken dinner which was tasty and plentiful. Service was pretty good but with only two tables of customers in the place it better be good!

Cozy place just off M Street towards the canal. Not fancy but not divey either. You see a lot of locals come in solo, grab a seat at the bar, and watch TV with a can of Sapporo beer and some sushi. Seating on the 1st level is at the sushi bar and then about 5 tables seating 2 to 4 each. There’s also a lot more seating on the 2nd level. The sushi’s not super expensive and is quite good. Entrée prices are typical for a Japanese restaurant but less than what I would expect for Georgetown. Ingredients are very fresh. Service is attentive.

First off, the place is impossible to find. If you look hard enough, youll find a small black flag with red letters, that I dont even believe says chopsticks, it says something else! But if you find that flag, youre in the right place. The wait staff are all really nice, but it didnt make up for the mediocre sashimi and rolls that they served us. We got salmon and tuna sashimi and it was decently fresh, but pretty thinly sliced and not as smooth and buttery as good sashimi. just ok. As for the rolls, I honestly dont remember which ones we got, but the only pretty good one was the crazy roll, which was only slightly bigger and tastier than the other«specialty» rolls we ordered. Other than one decent roll, the rest of the meal was forgettable and mediocre.

Went here because we had a Groupon. First off, it took us a while to find the spot because the name Chopsticks isn’t big, it has another name on the sign. However, the sushi was very good and there were a lot of selections. The submarine and the Crazy Rolls were my favorite that we ordered. It was a little pricey. The hot saki, I thought was a little more than wanted to pay for the small size(only size available). Would recommend.

When K and I decided to use up some of our deals, we decided to stop by Chopsticks(her deal) after seeing a movie. We arrived around 5 so it was pretty early and we were the first ones there before a plethora of diners showed up, which helped us score the window seat. Yea, people watching! We decided to keep it simple and just stick with sushi. The rolls are good in quality and taste, but nothing special. I thought they were a bit overpriced for the quality of the sushi. The atmosphere is nice and quiet and the staff is very friendly. I will say that the bathroom just plain smells and I found myself trying to hold my breath the 3 minutes I was in there. At least the rest of the(small) restaurant smelled nice, ha.

Late lunch sushi craving and Chopsticks fit the bill but short of amazing. The Sashimi Combo, at $ 35 was a value with big, thick cuts and a great assortment including sweet shrimp and spicy tuna. I’m a fan! The Rainbow roll however was a let down. Small, and thin. The roll looked cheap. I hope this is not how all Chopstick rolls are created. I don’t know all the sushi options in Georgetown but I’m sure there is something better than Chopsticks

What… I like this place! The bento boxes are well sized and their rolls are okay priced. I like that they have a ton of specialty rolls to choose from. We stumbled in around 3PM on a Monday and I ordered this roll(the name escapes me right now)…it was something like spicy tuna will avocado/salmon on top and this really delicious sesame sauce. I also got this crispy scallop(SCALLOPSSSSS) roll. Terrific! The rolls totaled around $ 18 bucks. My friend’s bento box had okay fried oysters and they let you upgrade the standard Cali rolls to spicy tuna for a little bit more. I approve. Y’all are tripping.

This is one of my favorite places. Even better when you have your favorite company along. On the white board were some new rolls so we sampled the Crystal roll and the Crunchy Rainbow roll. Both were sublime. That’s right, I said sublime.

Although I did some poking around on the internet to see if my sushi addiction was a legitimate illness, I was unable to prove this claim even via Wikipedia. Strange, since I have no other way to explain my sometimes spontaneous compulsion and fixation to eat sushi immediately no matter my location. This explains perfectly my visit to Chopsticks despite the wretched reviews on Unilocal. I had my mind on sushi for a day or so before I got my fix. I had a meeting today in Georgetown and wanted to make sure that I parked as close as possible. As soon as I stepped out of the Shoppes parking lot, I spot Chopsticks. It looks cute, cozy, small and most importantly, right in front of me. With less then half an hour to spare, I walk into the empty space a bit after 3pm to score some raw fish. I notice that they have a $ 10.95 special for 3 select rolls. You can choose which three from about a dozen rather simple rolls. I selected the shrimp roll, tuna roll and the spicy salmon roll. All of the sushi was fairly mediocre other than the spicy salmon roll. If I could have done it over again, I would have ordered three spicy salmon rolls. The salmon was perfectly fatty, tender, fresh and with just enough spice. The shrimp was was okay, but bland and the tuna roll tasted too fishy. In fact, fishy enough that I left two pieces on the plate and I rarely ever pull that move with sushi. Either way, my experience was still rather pleasant; I was in and out in 20 minutes, the server was attentive and polite, the atmosphere was quiet and cozy and the sushi was… good enough. Would I come back again and invite a crew? Probably not. However, if I needed a quick sushi fix in Georgetown for the right price, Chopsticks may suffice.
