First visit here and I must say I’m disappointed… thought I’d try since it had good ratings. MAN, sure wish I’d taken more time to read the UPDATED reviews and negative comments. Ordered a meatball sub. Such a simple thing to make… how can you mess it up, right??? Oh, let me count the ways… 1. Sandwich was cold(I traveled approx. 2 blocks away to eat) 2. The clumps of provolone cheese were placed on the bread and the meatballs stacked on top. 3. Cheese wasn’t melted ATALL… I’m going to guess the meatballs were placed on the bread at room temperature(hints the cheese not melting) SMH…the guy whom I’m assuming runs the joint was extremely nice. When he said«Hope you enjoy your Meatball sub» I replied«Me too». Well let’s just say I won’t be going back(especially after reading about how they’ve apparently gone downhill)

Good cheap eats. Our sandwich artist(for lack of a better term) was very careful when constructing our sandwiches. There were lots of choices and everything going into the sandwiches seemed pretty fresh. This place isn’t about ambiance, but everything tasted quite good.

I’m so disappointed in Daily 14. It’s not the same place that it used to be a few years ago. I guess, from reading previous reviews, that they are under new management. I could sense that there was a change for a while, but was hoping that things would pick back up. Since my last review, they’ve been very understaffed, and there’s hardly any selection of chips and drinks. They even got rid of their entire candy selection. It’s very strange, and it makes me sad, because the people who I assume own the place are just so nice. My lunch-buddy and I think that they must have some competition with West Wing across the street — because it’s basically the same concept. For $ 6, I got a sad sandwich with barely any meat… not to mention about a 10 minute wait in a hot store on top of that. Unfortunately, I think today was my last visit for a while.

Good place to get an affordable, tasty breakfast or lunch on a work break! Great customer service as well.

I’ll give this place 2 stars because the employees were very nice and service was pretty fast. Other than that though, and despite the fact that this place uses Boars Head meats, which are usually delicious), the food was not at all tasty. I got the club as a wrap – didn’t exclude or add any ingredients. The wrap itself was grossly rubbery. I literally stretched a piece of it and had a hard time getting it to break at all. It had more properties related to a rubber band than a consumable food substance. And the inner parts of the sandwich were very bland.

It’s hard to not compare Daily 14 to the Daily 14 I first visited in 2011. There was a change in ownership that shifted everything about what used to be AMAZING about this lunchtime spot. It used to be high quality, value, and service; unfortunately now, it is mediocre through and through. It’s still the cheapest on the block, but it shows.

Update: This was a hot spot for our office on the block. Cheap, huge sandwiches, fresh ingredients. Then the ownership changed. The guy running the place is perplexing. He’s been outspoken that he’s saving the business money by slimming down portions. Walked in a couple weeks ago and it was probably 100 degrees in there. Asked him if the AC was broken, he said, nope — its running full blast. I guess that’s another cost-saver? What was once on the regular lunch rotation for our company has been demoted to the status of ‘only if you’re in a jam.’

Wow, my first review in so long. I guess I had to write about this place. Well to get to the point, I wasn’t sure of what to eat for lunch during work so I did a little research on the area and saw Daily 14, I kept reading to «try the meatball sub you can’t go wrong.» CLEARLY the people in this area have bland taste buds because I ordered one, tried it and wanted to give the uneaten part to the nearest trash receptacle. I was definitely fooled. It was a mediocre sub and the sauce was a little dry. Subway’s meatball sub had better seasoning on their meatballs. The only reason why I give it a 3 star is because they are homemade meatballs and the service was quick. Next time I’ll order a ham and cheese sandwich. I’m sure NOBODY can mess that up.

Very good local deli. Food was amazing. Definitely a spot to go. Prices were also appealing for the portions sizes. Quick service also.

I’ve been a regular at D14 for a few years now and I figure its time to write a review. The change in staff had a few bumps in the road, but the experience in my opinion is back to normal. Sure, you are going to wait during rush hour, but the value for the sandwich is the best I’ve found in the area. Patrick, the new manager, has always been friendly and attentive when I’ve been there. Plus, he’ll make practically any sandwich combination you ask for. I’d also recommended the bibimbap, but if you’re pressed for time avoid the noon rush.

At some point in the last year or so there was a change in operation and service at the store. The staff here is dependable, fast, and know exactly how to make a solid lunch sandwich. Definitely 5 star unbeatable lunch spot in DC

A great sandwich and wrap place. Stop in and custom order on a slip of paper and hand off to have your meal prepared. It’s a little pricey, but I may not have been used to the city prices. Definitely a good amount of food. They have some delicious options. It’s definitely a solid lunch option for anyone working in the area for a quick bite to takeout.

This excellent little sandwich shop is a perfect pop-in for a mid-workday lunch. The food is delicious and they are not skimpy with the meat! The staff is also extremely friendly. The chicken pesto panini is highly recommended!

The food here was definitely good, but I question the five star average rating. I wouldn’t classify this as that stellar of a sandwich place… though they do serve Boar’s Head deli meat which(for you NJ/N Y transplants) is pretty great.

Poorly kept(signs falling down, grimy display shelves). Poorly stocked(refrigerators and shelves half-empty, popular products out at peak lunchtime). But you come for the sandwiches, right? I’d read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Went with(1) the Bulgogi sub with kimchi. Room temp beef and kimchi was the first major strike. Second strike, I asked if it was spicy and they assured me that it was… My taste buds completely disagree. Third strike was the amateur wrapping of the sandwich, which left a mess all over the cashier’s hands and my own. That said, on the positive side, the beef was well-seasoned and the roll was soft and flavorful(potato, I believe) and when it’s all said and done, I found the sandwich pretty enjoyable on a warm sunny day. The(2) Spicy Chipotle Chicken was just straight awful. Like something my 10-year old brother could’ve put together for his summer camp. Layer some cold cheese, chicken, and A LOT of lettuce, toss on some 8 hour old cold bacon, throw in some Newman’s Own chipotle salad dressing and the oil at the end of the Sriracha bottle and VOILA! The sandwich that my brother trades to a friend for his bag of carrots. The amateur wrapping on this was also pretty comical. If you want this sandwich, get it pressed if you can. At least that way you’ll feel significantly less ripped off. Good luck to the owners getting this place in order. It’ll take some real TLC for this spot to make it long term downtown.

Bit disappointed. Ordered a Mediterranean veggie sandwich. After all the reviews I expected something decent. The tortilla was half cooked and cold. The sandwich description said avocado, spinach, onions, feta, provolone, sprouts, tomato. They put like two pinches of alfalfa sprouts, two slices of tomato, one spoonful of hummus, one slice of provolone, and the rest filled up with lettuce. The whole wrap measured 3 inches by 6 inches, mostly filled with lettuce, which was not mentioned in the description. I would not call this a big or huge wrap by any means.

Great place to get a quick sandwich for lunch. I grabbed mine and headed over to Thomas Circle to sit in the sun and enjoy. All kinds of unique sandwich options, drinks and more.

I got the spicy chicken wrap(and yup, it’s spicy!) The staff is extremely friendly and patiently took my order. The sandwich comes with tons of meat and you won’t be hungry after. Very cheap, fast, clean and convenient. A++

This place is amazing! I just discovered it recently and am stopping in about once a week — it is just a block from my office. First, it is very clean and inviting. The awesome people who work there are so nice and always make sure to say hi and ask how you’re doing as soon as you walk in the door. I usually stop in between 12:30 and 1:30 and it is never crazy busy — but they are always very efficient. The food is so tasty as well. I have had a reuben, a tuna salad sandwich, and an italian sandwich there. The bread is very tasty and very fresh, and all the ingredients they put on the sandwich(lettuce, onions, cheese, meats) are high quality and fresh too. They will make pretty much anything you want and the sandwiches are enormous. Also, it is pretty cheap — especially for the area! You are getting a MUCH better sandwich than most of the places around — and in the city, honestly. I think it runs around $ 6 or so for most of the sandwiches there. The credit card minimum is $ 3…which I think is totally fine. Definitely recommend this place to everyone.
