If you are looking for good food from a black owned business on h street, this is where you need to go. danny todd, the proprietor has been at the location for nearly 4 years and shows up every single day he has been opened which is 6 days a week. i get antsy when i havent had a vacation in a few months, forget 4 years! show your respect by stopping in to say hi and enjoy the food. by the way, the smoked chicken sando with homemade bbq sauce was one of the best i have had. ever.

Came here after checking out a few bars on H St. I remember seeing a sign advertising friday fish dinners. So after enjoying a few libations I needed some food. I want to say I stopped by a little after midnight and asked if it was too late to order fish. To my surprise they made an exception and fried up some whiting for me and some catfish for my friend. I got a side of mac & cheese(always nervous about ordering mac & cheese never know if you’re going to get some boxed noodles w/powdered cheese) and was told it was fresh out the oven! They didn’t lie about that and it was actually good. Did need to add my own salt/pepper but otherwise decent macaroni and fried fish. Friendly service can’t wait to try the other menu items.

Food: I order the chicken and waffles for delivery every Saturday and Sunday morning because it’s amazing and addicting. However, I decided to try what their dinner was like and… Ah-mazing. I had the tilapia, baked beans, collard greens and corn bread; tasted just like good southern home cooking. Next, I will try the lunch. Service: Since I get my food delivered, I can only speak of phone and delivery experience. The people that answer the phone are very nice. You can tell they’re busy but they do a great job at making sure everything is accurate. Since I live fairly close, delivery is always within 30 minutes. On one occasion the drivers car broke down, so to make up for the delay, they gave me extra food(all delicious). I love this place. There’s not that many spots on H street that have breakfast and this is my favorite.

Delicious! I had the shrimp and grits that comes with a side of cornbread. My sisters had the chicken(huge wings seasoned well) and waffles with a side of collard greens! Delicious!

Don’t order for delivery. It will take two+ hours and the mediocre good will be cold. Be warned.

I usually do not Unilocal about bad food experience but this place is the WORST. It was more about not getting a lot of small things right. For example, the server was super awkward, the coffee was burnt, had no sugar available(only the calorie free kind), and had no milk or creamer of any sort available. When my order was completed, I took it home to realize that part of my order was wrong. Instead of a bacon and cheese omelet I had a veggie omelet. The worst part of the veggie omelet was that it had raw onions, spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, and one raw potato piece it in.(???) Also, I ordered takeout and in the 20 minutes it took for my food to be complete, the following happened: The server had to calculate my order total on a napkin. … Fellow Patron to Server: Could I have some side plates Server: Well, the sides you ordered will come out on plates. But yeah, I can do that. … Cook to server(motioning to the completed takeout orders on the counter): The delivery driver didn’t take these orders yet? What, is she taking one at a time? Server to Cook: No, two.

Inexpensive and good food and just a off of Hst. The guys here are nice and its a chilled spot for breakfast. I’ve been coming here for about a month now and it’s a gem.

We ordered delivery food and it took two hours to arrive, it was ice cold, and the driver was rude on the phone. Fries were soggy, rice and mac and cheese were flavorless, and our drink order was incorrect.

Visitors to NE Washington DC definitely want to take in the breakfast at this hidden gem. It is easily found at 13th and H. The food is outstanding and the service is warm and welcoming. Breakfast is served anytime. I went with the«Big Breakfast«and my wife had an omelette. Both were excellent. Highly recommended.

Was in town this past weekend for the 4th of July and my wife and I were walking down H Street where we smelled the most delicious chicken grilling on the BBQ outside Danny Todds Restaurant. We went in to check it out and were greeted warmly with a very friendly staff. I had the Chicken and Waffles and my wife had their Crab Cake Platter. WELOVEDIT! We even came back the next morning for a great breakfast and again they made us feel like family! We highly recommend trying out this great spot.

cute little place with lime green accents. great food — had the Big Breakfast platter –though perhaps slightly overpriced(12.99 for 10 «wingettes» which were delicious but very small!). surprisingly good coffee and a nice staff.

Ordered via Grubhub the other night. Ribs were ALL fat and gooey. Not tasty at all. I’m not someone who complains often, but for what I payed– this was absurd. The only reason they are getting 1 star is because the food was prompt. I wouldn’t recommend this place. There are plenty of other options on H street with better quality options.

Great little hole in the wall Danny Todd’s corner of H and 13th street NEDC. amazing soul food, breakfast all day!!! Seafood platter and sweet team! This place is awesome. Waitress made us feel like we came over to visit old friends for dinner. The owner was not afraid to bus tables. We will be back.

Never Again!!! The life size menu with pricing on the wall is not what you will actually pay for your selection. Ask for a menu with current pricing. My order, according to the menu on the wall was $ 5.99. After I finished my meal(breakfast), which by the way was not tasty, I was presented a bill for $ 9.88 and informed, «oh the prices on the the wall needs updating, you should’ve asked for a menu.» WTF… I really like patronizing minority own businesses, but end up getting screwed most times. I should’ve had a V-8! NEVERAGAIN!!!

Came here on Saturday, November 15th, 2014 for a simple brunch. Danny Todd’s is a sleepy little place with black and green décor with a big mural of train tracks on one of the walls. The breakfast menu had all of the staples and I decided to go for Danny Todd’s Big Breakfast their lead menu item. I wish I had taken a picture because the presentation was fairly impressive for such a small place. The food was good and the coffee was bottomless which was a plus. It was reasonably priced at about $ 20 a person(plus a good tip). Tonya our server was really nice, apparently while I was up getting another cup of coffee my bacon fell off my plate and she got me even more bacon even though I said it was okay. Clean and a clearly locally owned business on H Street that seems to be doing well. Give em a try.

1. Outside seating area is less than two feet away from a big trashcan overflowing with trash and swarming with bees and flies. Although it is a city trash can it is the restaurants duty to take care of this. We moved inside because of the bees.’ 2. Service. Slow and got orders wrong. How hard is a simple breakfast order? We used to go to the silver car diner on Bladensburg until it closed and they never got an order wrong or were slow. This is simple food we are talking about. We had 6 in our group and everyone got their food at different times. I was done when last plate was served. 3. Food was good, nothing special. Better than Tony’s definitely.

BREAKFASTALLDAY. BREAKFAST. ALL. DAY. I feel bad cheating on Tony’s Breakfast but this place is just so damn good. The first time I came here was(I guess?) their opening weekend the day after the H street festival. I ordered a crab cake sandwich and waited… and waited… and waited for a good 35 – 40 minutes despite there only being two other customers. The only waitress was super overwhelmed and their credit card machine had stopped working and apparently there were issues with the stove top, etc. I was increasingly hangry and cranky. Finally I received my food to go, despite having ordered to eat on the patio, because they were considering closing early due to all the issues they had. It was super annoying and I vowed to never go there again. So why am I reviewing them so highly? Because it was one of the best f-ing crab cakes I’ve ever had. Huge, no filler, tasty bun(although slightly too big), coleslaw on the side. My bf and I returned the next weekend for french toast platters to go. Amazing. I chose cheese grits and pork sausage as my sides, which has sort of become my go-to order. Overall their breakfast platters are a little more expensive than Tony’s but much better quality IMO, especially the home fries. I hate that they’re right across the street because good lord it is delicious and the people who work there are the nicest. I’m taking one star down because they should do something about the city garbage can that’s way too close to the patio seating(flies, gross) and because I can’t speak for their subs or bbq options. But do yourself a favor and stop by for some breakfast or seafood.
