I took my family to eat lunch and I had salmon. My kids will eat anything and the mac + cheese and toasted cheese were both awful. I tried the mac + cheese and it had an off-taste like it was re=heated from the previous day. The macaroni was chewy and rubbery and very disgusting. The salmon was beyond well done and I enjoyed the 5 or 6 pieces of lettuce in my salad. After I paid the check, I asked the waitress for a few quarters to feed the meter and she told me she didn’t have any. I asked her to check with the cashier, or bartender, and she told me, «we don’t have any coins.» Nobody can possibly makes something like this up. I just wish I could have given District 2 zero stars.

I love this place, specially the D2 burger and tots. My friends and I come here at least once a month for a few years and I’ve always had great service and food. We recently started going to trivia on Wednesdays too, which is fun and well managed. Sad that they recently had a fire and hope it’s back up and running very soon. Oh, heads up the the pickle slices that come with the burgers are sweet… I’ve made that mistake a few times. Yikes!

I probably go here at least four times a week. Rob, the bartender is probably the person that I talk to the most in the DC area. Always great service and food. Such a welcoming place. I’m not sure the extent of the fire damage, but if they need any help getting things back up and running, I’d happily volunteer or donate to such a great bar. Get well soon, D2

Poor quality food. Greasy fare, pieces of rotten lettuce in the salad. Decent to good service. Plusses are location and venue for those seeking a sports bar.

Came for brunch with my one year old and it exceeded my expectations. They have clearly polished up the menu and quality. Bloody Mary was decent l, but the one from a couple years ago was epic. Crab Benedict was pretty good and the sweet potato pancakes were quite tasty. Solid for a corner bar option.

I live super close to this place and have come a few times — if you’re in the area, it’s a perfectly acceptable place to grab a drink and some dinner, but I wouldn’t come from far off to check it out… .there’s nothing wrong with it, but it’s a pretty typical American-fare bar and grill. I’m a vegan so I have very limited options here, but the sweet potato fries are good! They have the standard burgers, beers, et al on the menu. There’s indoor seating and an outside patio. UPDATE: They have a veggie burger which is quite good! Idk how I missed it before. They also have a few salads which are vegetarian and can be made vegan if you exclude the cheese. The staff is also really nice.

I was on my way to a dinner party and the bus brought me to this hood a little earlier than I needed to be. We didn’t want to order food, just some drinks, but the waitress kept giving us food menus. Felt a little pushy. We got our drinks just fine, but when we were ready to leave it was hard to track her down. Would stop in again if I’m in the area, but not something I’d plan on doing again.

This is a nice little neighborhood bar that serves decent food. I ate a shrimp salad the first time I came that was so good! I couldn’t believe it was prepared in a bar. The next time I ordered the fish and chips. Also pretty good. I will be back as there are a couple of other items on the menu that caught my eye.

We ended up checking this place out because we had passed it on our bike ride to the zoo. When we first walked on the music was insanely loud like I had just walked into a club and we were looking for more of a chill environment. Since we were tired from the day we sat down thinking we could handle it, well we couldn’t. I guess they had some karaōke party going on that night, but I still don’t get why the music was that horrible nor did we ever see this party come in while we were there. Anyway, our server was very nice and a accommodated us when we asked to move outside. He was also knowledgable about the menu and easy to talk to. We ended up ordering their sliders and steal nachos. Both were really good. The steak on the nachos was actual chunks of steak not the skimpy thin skirt steak and were delicious. The sliders were also great and the meat def wasn’t some frozen prepackaged patty. So with the service and the food being so good we’ll definitely go back!!!

I feel bad giving this place in my part of town such a low review but it’s tough love that hopefully will change this place to the better. We want to hang out here a lot more often as it has nice seating outside and ample seating outside, staff are super friendly and the problem is not with this place being a bar but the food, oh the terrible terrible food. I mean how could you get even hummus with bread wrong! Chicken sticks wrong! Or simple dishes but they do and we pass by the expensive French restaurant next door which is packed the Mexican restaurant in front which is full of families and children it’s also like Disney land and then there is the pizza Disney land before 9 pm don’t even try going there, and there is so much of that you can eat in a month, so we stroll with envy as all other places next to you are so packed and we wish we could eat at district 2 but our memory of stale food kicks in and yet again we pass this place with all it’s empty chairs in the summer outside which is where we want to be by and go else where, district 2 please revamp your Menu even bring bar food burgers and etc but make those simple dishes good and you can do so much better and be full or just don’t pretend to be a restaurant just be a bar,! Or hire a new chef. Hundreds are waiting for y to make this change clearly with a location like yours we so want to enjoy our neighborhood restaurants!

Ok, so I have to change my review about D2. I came in on a Tuesday night(karaōke night) and felt like I was in a scene in Cheers. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. I had such a good time that I came back with a friend on Saturday. I ordered the Beet salad with shrimp and she the Chili. My salad was amazing and she loved the chili. Drinks strong, crowd and staff again super friendly. I am so happy that I have a neighborhood place to go to now. I will for sure be back!

Came here on a Saturday around 8PM. It was raining outside, so it seemed there was no one out– especially here. My new coworkers who are all from out-of-town decided to have a drink or two before heading down to Adams Morgan for the night. It started raining too hard to hail a taxi so we kept coming in and out of the bar. Each time we did, we had another drink or shot. So pretty much a total of two times. One of the guys that worked there gave us a phone number for a taxi but we had no luck. He then waited outside with us a bit and suggested that we take the bus to Admo and he looked on his phone and told us which bus stop to take, and which bus number. I definitely think this was going over and beyond. The bathroom here is clean. The restaurant is clean. Staff were really nice and suggested other places to go during the night, which definitely was helpful. Thanks District 2 Bar!

Good but not great. The mussels for 2 deal we had was not enough for 2 people, but it was tasty. We ordered the mushroom truffle mussels — really good but not enough to be a good deal if I had paid full price — $ 16. The house white wine went well with the mussels & they have a nice beer list. It’s a bit loud inside but not obnoxiously so — I could hear my dining companion. Inviting outdoor patio space with heaters. The service was fine, our waitress was friendly enough & fast.

My review of 4 stars is based on the totality of my experience with District 2. If I were to rate its food alone, I would give them a 3. If i were to rate their prices, it would be a 3 again. What makes District 2 shine, though, is their service and trivia night. The trivia people they hire is the best trivia I have been to in DC(I’ve tried more than a handful and it’s on Wednesdays). I’ve never had a bad experience with service and the majority of their servers appear to be clean and are mostly kind. Don’t expect an awesome meal, but just a solid effort.

After my last review, I STILL didn’t give up because they introduced karaōke nights with all-night happy hour, so I stuck to ordering fries and beer and sang on Tuesday nights. And it was awesome. Until they switched management yet AGAIN and proceeded to fire my favorite bartenders as well as the karaōke DJ. They just seem to keep shooting themselves in the foot.

I want to like this place ad occasionally I do. It’s pretty convenient and the service is generally great, especially all the bartenders. BUT the food –_– I mean it’s fine but it’s always 50⁄50. Their nachos are AMAZING… but they took them off the menu. –_– They’re trying to bring in a better clientele so they spruced up their menu. It’s relatively decent… on paper. I came in the other night, ordered 2 things for take-out: one being a simple green salad with whatever salad veggies they had and grilled chiken on top. No extra cheese, no extra meats, just a simple green salad with grilled chicken. The bartender, Matt, was very accomodating and asked me several questions about what was clearly an off the menu(but immensely simple) salad to make sure he ordered it correctly for me. When I got back my boyfriend opened his salad to find 4 – 5 whole romaine lettuce leaves, a few halved cherry tomatoes, maybe 3 slivers of a red onion, and cold refrigerated dilapidated chicken slices mushed into a corner of the box. SERIOUSLY, D2!!! it was one of the simplest things someone could order! A beer, friendly staff, and mediocre bar food is really what to expect from this place.

Went here for brunch Sunday and I am in no hurry to return. The food— Meh; The service– Meh; Ability to catch the football game during brunch is the only thing that redeems this place. If you’re close by, have 30 minutes to wait for eggs & potatoes, stop by. If you’re looking for a really good brunch in the area, keep it moving to the Café Deluxe next door.

I really love the vegetable flatbread, it’s unexpectedly really delicious and I even get cravings for it. The bread sticks & cheese fondue are also really good. I am disappointed though, that they changed the recipe for the mac & cheese – the original when they first opened was much better. And the brunch menu is disappointing. (On a side note, the trivia night is terrible – the questions are so hard that it feels like you’re on Jeopardy or something.)

The 6 of us came here after dinner for some more drinks. We sat down and our waitress took our dink orders as well as the fried pickles which I heard were also really great. Three of us had car bombs and then I had one of their beers. While the ladies got sangria as well as the shiraz which was on special that day and $ 1 went to Susan G. Komen. The pickles were okay-but I didn’t have much of it-I was so full from dinner and their beer selection was pretty good. The car bombs came out to $ 10 a pop-it’s been a while since my college days but I don’t remember it being that expensive, maybe I’m wrong and that’s the new standard. Our waitress too, seemed a little off. I think she could tell that we were nursing our drinks a bit and figured she wasn’t going to get much more than the 20% she already was getting. She stepped outside to take a smoke break right in front of us and didn’t come back for a while. I think it was probably a two smoke break followed by joking with the small pack of staff/friends that she walked out with. I figure there are other places out there with a better beer selection and better service.

3.5 Stars. Finally Upper NW residents no longer need to go down to Georgetown or up to Bethesda for Superbowl game or baseball playoffs. District 2 Bar & Grille(D2BG) wants to be the neighborhood low-key hangout spot. As soon as you walk in, you will get greetings from 4 big flat screen TVs hanging at the bar but it also has cozy dining area separated from the bar. Good HH for drinks. Weak on wine but who cares. Go for beer. Only one kind of Chardonnay but it was good, especially for $ 4HH price. Food seems to reflect simple casual bar concept. Multiple dishes incorporate one item in various way. So, look carefully what’s in each dish before you order. I made a mistake by ordering ‘Beer-cheese fondue’ and ‘Mac & cheese’. I got duplicate cheese sauce dish, one with bread and the other with pasta. If you are a fan of cheez-it(cracker), D2BG get your cheez-it fix. Get ONE of their cheese dishes like Mac & cheese, beer-cheese fondue or Nacho. All has one common item, beer-cheese sauce. Friendly service. I suggest you try their HH, 4−7pm. You won’t be disappointed. If something goes wrong, you still have one of DC’s best pizzeria, 2 Amy’s just cross the street. PS: DC police station in this neighborhood is called ‘District 2′.
