Dixon’s Pest Control

We have been a commercial client for years that Ms. Dixon and staff are always knowledgeable and helpful. They are always professional and get the job done correctly for us.

My 14 condo building has has a great experience with Dixon’s. Their technicians were knowledgeable and efficient. We had both a mice and roach issue in several units and they were able to patch holes and virtually eliminate the problem. I highly recommended them and continue to use them for quarterly preventative exterminations.
Update–
Taking back a few stars because Dixon’s no-​showed on a job, and then had the nerve to tell me it was because they got a larger job at the airport. While things happen, I was shocked that no one even bothered to call to get my business back.

I have had good experiences with Dixon’s. I called them to deal with a bad carpet beetle problem a year ago. They sprayed after checking that the pests were indeed what we thought they were. The appointment came with a free follow-​up a few weeks later. Unfortunately, a year later, we noticed that not all of the beetles had been exterminated (these beetles are not easy to get rid of), we’ve called Dixon’s back for a second round of treatments. The staff have been helpful — their treatment is quick (perhaps too quick), but they’ve helped us deal with our unpleasant insect problem, and like others have mentioned, they are a local business.

I have used Dixon’s 3 times in three different residences (2 I lived in and one I managed). All times they were informative, thorough and effective. I recommend them to anyone and everyone.

Absolutely horrid experience. Mrs. Dixon runs the phones, and doesn’t care in the slightest that I made 3 appointments and no one showed up each time. The service, when someone finally did show up, was incompetent. As a previous reviewer mentioned, they used blocks I could use at Home Depot, and the rats did not eat them. When Dixon’s came back (after weeks of phone calls begging them to finish the job I had paid for) the guy had nothing to say about the uneaten blocks other than the aformentioned fried chicken solution.
My rat problem wasn’t solved, I wasted my money, and wasted hours of my time waiting for them to return to be told ‘I wasn’t scheduled for that day.” They were unprofessional, and at times, even lying,
NEVER use Dixon’s.

If I could give 0 stars to Dixon’s, I would. The services provided by Dixon’s were unhelpful at best, and the correspondence was slow and unreliable.
I contacted Dixon’s for help with a rat problem in my house. They sent out an un-​uniformed worker in his personal vehicle who came into my house and set out poison blocks, the same ones I’d purchased at the hardware store and used myself.
A few days later, he returned and noticed that the rats had not eaten the poison, so he replaced them. In their place, he created piles of poison dust and put pieces of fried chicken on top, telling me to call him when I «smelled something.»
A week or so later, with no noticeable smell, I called him back to determine what his next steps were, to which he responded that he didn’t have any other plans. I could remove the fried chicken and poison dust myself, and that was it. The end. As for the holes in my wall that he’d identified, I’d have to deal with those on my own.
Total bill? $ 200, basically for nothing. Stay away from Dixon’s if you can. The people are unprofessional and unhelpful.

A neighborhood blog asked about pest control services, and I posted about Dixon’s. We’ve had our annual inspection since my first review, and I was really impressed. Here’s the post:
When we bought our house, we inherited a warranty contract from Dixon’s Termite and Pest Control on Georgia Ave. When we found termites in an area of the basement that had leaked water, they came promptly, inspected it, and treated the area the next day for free, no questions asked. Later, when we renewed the warranty, the technician gave an incredibly thorough inspection. That man is a SCIENTIST: he taught me the warning signs to look for in the spring, measured and annotated each spot of damage, and insisted that we call them for free inspection and/​or treatment if we notice any bugs or growth of the damaged spots.
I can’t recommend Dixon’s highly enough, and since they’re a local company based in Shepherd Park, they know these old houses really well.
